Copolymer-assisted Polypropylene Separator for Fast and Uniform Lithium Ion Transport in Lithium-ion Batteries

In lithium-ion batteries(LIBs),separators play a vital role in lithium-ion(Li+)transport,and thus affect rate performance,battery life,and ***,a new kind of multifunctional copolymer poly(acrylonitrile-co-lithium acrylate-co-butyl acrylate)(PAAB-Li)is synthesized through soap-free emulsion polymerization,and is used to form homogeneous-covered separator based on PP matrix by a simple dip-annealing *** to the bare PP separator,the modified separators with PAAB-Li enable higher ionic conductivity,higher lithium ion transference number(increased from 0.360 to 0.525),and lower interface impedance(reduced from 155Ω to 34Ω).It has been indicated that PAAB-Li functional layer significantly promotes the fast transport of Li+and improves the compatibility of the separator/electrolyte-electrode *** LiCo02/graphite cells with the PAAB-Li-assisted separator demonstrate excellent cycle stability and rate *** addition,the Li symmetric cells with the modified separator stably cycle over 800 h,indicating the functional layer effectively suppresses the lithium dendrite *** facile strategy can be easily applied to LIBs requiring high safety and even be scalable to Li metal ***,the possible mechanism of the PAAB-Li functional layer promoting fast and uniform Li+transport is discussed in this paper.

Plateau pikas near roads are bold and silent when facing a potential predator

Human disturbance,particularly road traffic,is one of the greatest threats to *** the association between alerting behavior and the survival of animals,it is important to study the effects of road traffic on alerting behavior of *** studies assessing the shortterm impact of road traffic on alerting behavior of wildlife have focused on vigilance ***,studies on the use of alarm calls are scarce,and it is unclear whether such behavioral responses change after repeated exposure to road *** assessed the alerting behavior of plateau pikas(Ochotona curzoniae)who were near or far from roads when facing a potential *** found that pikas near roads exhibited shorter vigilance and tolerance distances,and produced fewer alarm calls than those relatively far away from ***,both vigilance and tolerance distances of plateau pikas were significantly positively correlated with the distance from the burrow to the *** traffic reduced antipredator responses and shaped alerting behavior;that is,pikas near roads were bolder and more silent compared to those far away from *** findings suggest that increasing urbanization will have corresponding effects on animal behavior,which may have significant fitness effects in the future.

An exploratory study of three-dimensional MP-PIC-based simulation of bubbling fluidized beds with and without baffles

In this study, the flow characteristics of Geldart A particles in a bobbling fluidized bed with and without perforated plates were simulated by the multiphase particle-in-cell （MP-PlC）-based Eolerian-Lagrangian method. A modified structure-based drag model was developed based on our previous work. Other drag models including the Parker and Wen-Yo-Ergon drag models were also employed to investigate the effects of drag models on the simulation results. Although the modified structure-based drag model better predicts the gas-solid flow dynamics of a baffle-free bubbling fluidized bed in comparison with the experimental data, none of these drag models predict the gas-solid flow in a baffled bobbling floidized bed sufficiently well because of the treatment of baffles in the Barracuda software. To improve the simulation accuracy, future versions of Barracuda should address the challenges of incorporating the bed height and the baffles.

Aequorin-Based Luminescence Imaging Reveals Stimulus-and Tissue-Specific Ca^2＋ Dynamics in Arabidonsis Plants

Calcium ion is a versatile second messenger for diverse cell signaling in response to developmental and environmental cues. The specificity of Ca^2＋-mediated signaling is defined by stimulus-elicited Ca^2＋ signature and down-stream decoding processes. Here, an Aequorin-based luminescence recording system was developed for monitoring Ca^2＋ in response to various stimuli in Arabidopsis. With the simple, highly sensitive, and robust Ca^2＋ recording, this system revealed stimulus-and tissue-specific Ca^2＋ signatures in seedlings. Cellular Ca^2＋ dynamics and relationship to Aequorin-based Ca^2＋ recording were explored using a GFP-based Ca^2＋ indicator, which suggested that a synchronous cellular Ca^2＋ signal is responsible for cold-induced Ca^2＋ response in seedlings, whereas asynchronous Ca^2＋ oscillation contributes to osmotic stress-induced Ca^2＋ increase in seedlings. The optimized recording system would be a powerful tool for the iden-tification and characterization of novel components in Ca^2＋ -mediated stress-signaling pathways,

Zinc finger factor ZNF121 is a MYC-interacting protein functionally affecting MYC and cell proliferation in epithelial cells

MYC is a potent oncoprotein that modulates multiple cellular processes including proliferation,apoptosis, differentiation, stemness, senescence, and migration. Functioning primarily as a transcriptional factor, MYC interacts with a large number of proteins, and identification and characterization of MYC-interacting proteins are important for understanding how MYC functions. In this study, we used different systems to demonstrate that a novel zinc finger transcription factor, ZNF121, physically interacted with MYC, and the interaction involved their N-terminal regions. Overexpression of ZNF121 increased, while its knockdown decreased, the expression of MYC in multiple epithelial cell lines, and MYC had similar effects on ZNF121 expression. An expression correlation was also detectable in a panel of epithelial cell lines and a cohort of human breast cancer tissues. Functionally, knockdown of ZNF121 in several breast epithelial cell lines attenuated the expressions of MYC and its target genes（e.g., EGR1,CDC2, and nucleolin） and slowed cell proliferation, accompanied by cell cycle arrest in the G1 phase and expression alteration of cell cycle regulators（cyclin D1, p14 and p21）. Analysis of publically available databases showed that ZNF121 expression is up-regulated in human breast cancer, and the up-regulation significantly associates with worse patient survival in the luminal A subtype of breast cancer. These findings establish ZNF121 as a MYC-interacting protein with functional effects on MYC and cell proliferation.

Molecularly imprinted polymer(MIP)beads imprinted with vitamin E(V_(E))were synthesized via a two-step swelling polymerization method,using methacrylic acid(MAA)and other functional monomers together with polystyrene(PS)microspheres as the *** initial trials,different functional monomers were assessed,along with a variety of solvents and imprinting *** MIP_(MAA) sample exhibited the highest performance and was characterized and also assessed with regard to V_(E) adsorption under various experimental *** material exhibited reasonably good sphericity,porosity and stability,along with an excellent adsorption capacity of 46 mg/*** was much higher than the value for the corresponding non-imprinted polymer made with the same monomer,and 20%higher than that for an acrylamide-based MIP synthesized using a precipitation polymerization *** core-shell structured MIP_(MAA) also demonstrated fast adsorption kinetics,a low pressure drop and good reusability in fixed bed *** V_(E) adsorption equilibrium,selectivity,kinetics,thermodynamics and regeneration capacity of this material were also examined and are reported herein.

Hemorrhagic transformation after acute ischemic stroke caused by polycythemia vera:Report of two case

BACKGROUNDPolycythemia vera (PV) is a chronic myeloproliferative disorder characterized byan increase in red blood cells in the peripheral blood. Previous work has reportedthe occurrence of thrombosis or hemorrhage arising in the cerebral vasculaturesecondary to PV. However, hemorrhagic transformation after PV-associated acuteischemic stroke has not been previously *** SUMMARYWe herein present two cases of PV where hemorrhagic transformation occurredafter an acute ischemic stroke. Case 1 was a 57-year-old woman with a history ofhypertension who was admitted for left-sided weakness. Case 2 was a 68-year-oldman who was admitted for a 10-d sudden left arm weakness. Imaging examinationsfor the two patients revealed hemorrhagic transformation after acuteischemic stroke. Both patients had JAK-2-V617F mutation and receivedantiplatelet therapy. Both of them had a good prognosis during the *** report suggested that hemorrhagic transformation may occur in acuteischemic stroke caused by PV. Antiplatelet drugs do not seem to influence thelong-term outcomes in such patients. Future research should focus on establishinga standard antiplatelet treatment strategy for this condition.

A series of quinolino[3,4-b]quinoxalin-6（5H）-ones have been synthesized using an Ugi/deprotection/cyclization（UDC） strategy, followed by a nucleophilic aromatic substitution reaction. This facile microwave-assisted method provided good yields and could potentially be used for the construction of a diverse library of quinolino[3,4-b]quinoxalin-6（5H）-ones for high-throughput screening in medicinal chemistry.
