IgG4 and IgE co-positive group found in idiopathic orbital inflammatory disease

AIM： To reveal the cytokines involved in idiopathic orbital inflammatory disease（IOID） and the relationship between Th17 cells, IgE and IOID ***： Whole blood samples were processed immediately after collection and serological IgG4, IgG, and IgE antibodies were tested using ELISA. IOID and orbital cavernous hemangioma（CH） tissue samples underwent Bio-Plex multiplex cytokine detection. Hematoxylin-Eosin（HE） staining of all paraffin samples suggested the histological features of IOIDs, and expressions of IgG4 and IL-17 A in affected tissues were detected by immunohistochemistry. RESULTS： Among 40 IOID plasma samples, 52.5%（21/40） were positive for IgG4 and 25%（10/40） were positive for IgE. Overlapped IgG4 or IgE positive samples accounted for 22.5%（9/40）. Therefore, IOID samples were separated into three groups. The IgE＋/IgG4＋ group had a relevantly lower level of pro-inflammatory cytokine expression. IL-4（Th2 cell related）, IL-10 and TGF-β1（Treg cell immunity related） were elevated in all three groups. Some of the Th17 cell related cytokines（i.e. IL-17 A/F, IL-25, IL-23, and IL-33） displayed higher expression levels in the IgE-/IgG4-group compared to the other two ***： We discovered an IgG4-IgE co-positive group as well as Th17 cell immune involvement in IgG4-IgE co-negative subgtroup in IOID for the first time. The pathogenesis of IOID could differ from different subgroups according to the IgG4 and IgE detection. Therefore, we recommend that, Treatment stratagy should be made according to the clinical assessment of IgG4-IgE and Th17 profile detection.

One-pot and One-step Cu(0)-mediated Reversible-Deactivation Radical Polymerization of N-Isopropylacrylamide(NIPAM) in Water

Copper(0)-mediated reversible-deactivation radical polymerization(Cu(0)-mediated RDRP) of the water-soluble monomer Nisopropylacrylamide(NIPAM) has been challenging with the problems of high dispersity, poor control over the molecular weights(MWs) or complex or multi reaction steps, etc. In this work, we report the well-controlled polymerization of NIPAM in water via a facile one-pot and one-step Cu(0)-mediated RDRP. The results of this approach show that the key for kicking off the Cu(0)-mediated NIPAM RDRPs is to ensure sufficient Cu~I at the very beginning, and the key to achieve a well-controlled chain growth is to provide adequate deactivation strength during the polymerization process. For NIPAM, which has a high propagation rate constant, the deactivation control can be effectively enhanced by extra adding deactivator(i.e., Cu~II) to the system. Moreover, a low reaction temperature(4 ℃) is necessary in the controlled synthesis of higher MW poly(Nisopropylacrylamide)(PNIPAM) to avoid the compromise in control caused by the phase transition from its lower critical solution temperature(LCST). Through this new kinetically controlled strategy, PNIPAMs with well-defined structure, narrow molecular weight distributions(MWDs) and varied MWs were successfully achieved.

Colorectal cancer has a high incidence and mortality rate in China, with the majority of cases being middle and low rectal cancer. Surgical intervention is currently the main treatment modality for locally advanced rectal cancer, with the common goal of improving oncological outcomes while preserving function. The controversy regarding the circumferential resection margin distance in rectal cancer surgery has been resolved. With the promotion of neoadjuvant therapy concepts and advancements in technology, treatment strategies have become more *** tumor downstaging, there is an increasing trend towards extending the safe distance of distal rectal margin. This provides more opportunities for patients with low rectal cancer to preserve their anal ***, there is currently no consensus on the specific distance of distal resection margin.

Ultrasound sensors play an important role in biomedical imaging,industrial nondestructive inspection,*** ultrasound sensors that use piezoelectric transducers face limitations in sensitivity and spatial resolution when miniaturized,with typical sizes at the millimeter to centimeter *** overcome these challenges,optical ultrasound sensors have emerged as a promising alternative,offering both high sensitivity and spatial *** particular,ultrasound sensors utilizing high-quality factor(Q)optical microcavities have achieved unprecedented performance in terms of sensitivity and bandwidth,while also enabling mass production on silicon *** this review,we focus on recent advances in ultrasound sensing applications using three types of optical microcavities:Fabry-Perot cavities,π-phase-shifted Bragg gratings,and whispering gallery mode *** provide an overview of the ultrasound sensing mechanisms employed by these microcavities and discuss the key parameters for optimizing ultrasound ***,we survey recent advances in ultrasound sensing using these microcavity-based approaches,highlighting their applications in diverse detection scenarios,such as photoacoustic imaging,ranging,and particle *** goal of this review is to provide a comprehensive understanding of the latest advances in ultrasound sensing with optical microcavities and their potential for future development in high-performance ultrasound imaging and sensing technologies.

Immersive visualization of 3D subsurface ground model developed from sparse boreholes using virtual reality(VR)

Analytics and visualization of multi-dimensional and complex geo-data,such as three-dimensional(3D)subsurface ground models,is critical for development of underground space and design and construction of underground structures(e.g.,tunnels,dams,and slopes)in engineering *** complicated 3D subsurface ground models now can be developed from site investigation data(e.g.,boreholes)which is often sparse in practice,it remains a great challenge to visualize a 3D subsurface ground model with sophisticated stratigraphic variations by conventional two-dimensional(2D)geological *** reality(VR)technology,which has an attractive capability of constructing a virtual environment that links to the physical world,has been rapidly developed and applied to visualization in various disciplines *** on the rapid development of VR,this study proposes a framework for immersive visualization of 3D subsurface ground models in geo-applications using VR *** 3D subsurface model is first developed from limited borehole data in a data-driven ***,a VR system is developed using related software and hardware devices currently available in the markets for immersive visualization and interaction with the developed 3D subsurface ground *** results demonstrate that VR visualization of the 3D subsurface ground model in an immersive environment has great potential in revolutionizing the geo-practices from 2D cross-sections to a 3D immersive virtual environment in digital era,particularly for the emerging digital twins.

The popularity of the Internet of Things(IoT)has enabled a large number of vulnerable devices to connect to the Internet,bringing huge security *** a network-level security authentication method,device fingerprint based on machine learning has attracted considerable attention because it can detect vulnerable devices in complex and heterogeneous access ***,flexible and diversified IoT devices with limited resources increase dif-ficulty of the device fingerprint authentication method executed in IoT,because it needs to retrain the model network to deal with incremental features or *** address this problem,a device fingerprinting mechanism based on a Broad Learning System(BLS)is proposed in this *** mechanism firstly characterizes IoT devices by traffic analysis based on the identifiable differences of the traffic data of IoT devices,and extracts feature parameters of the traffic packets.A hierarchical hybrid sampling method is designed at the preprocessing phase to improve the imbalanced data distribution and reconstruct the fingerprint *** complexity of the dataset is reduced using Principal Component Analysis(PCA)and the device type is identified by training weights using *** experimental results show that the proposed method can achieve state-of-the-art accuracy and spend less training time than other existing methods.
