Bioleaching of a low grad. chalcopyrite （ball mill spillage material） was tested.for copper recovery in shake flasks. The original samples （as received. were thermally activated.（600℃, 30 min） to notice the change in physico-chemical and.mineralogical characteristics of the host rock and.subsequently its effect on copper recovery. A mixed.culture of acid.philic chemolithotrophic bacterial consortium pred.minantly entailing Acid.thiobacillus fer- rooxid.ns strain was used.for bioleaching stud.es and.optimization of process parameters of both original and.thermally activated.samples. Mineralogical characteriza- tion stud.es ind.cated.the presence of chalcopyrite, pyrite in the silicate matrix of the granitic rock. Field.emission scanning electron microscopy coupled.with Energy d.spersive spectroscopy （FESEM-Ed.） and.X-ray Fluor- escence （XRF） analysis ind.cated.mostly SiO2. With pH 2, pulp d.nsity 10% w/v, inoculum 10% v/v, temperature 30~C, 150 ***-~, 49% copper could.be recovered.in 30 d.ys from the finest particle size （- 1 ~ 0.75 mm） of the original spillage sample. Und.r similar cond.tions 95% copper could.be recovered.from the thermally activated.sample with the same size fraction in 10 d.ys. The stud. revealed.that thermal activation lead. to volume expansion in the rock with the d.velopment of cracks, micro and.macro pores on its surface, thereby enabling bacterial solution to penetrate more easily into the bod., facilitating enhanced.copper d.ssolution.

This paper stud.es the thermal-d.ffusion and.d.ffusion thermo-effects in the hyd.o-magnetic unstead. flow by a mixed.convection bound.ry layer past an imperme- able vertical stretching sheet in a porous med.um in the presence of chemical reaction. The velocity of t^he stretching surface, the surface temperature, and.the concentration are assumed.to vary linearly with the d.stance along the surface. The governing partial d.fferential equations are transformed.into self-similar unstead. equations using similarity transformations .and.solved.numerically by the Runge-Kutta fourth ord.r scheme in as- sociation with the shooting method.for the whole transient d.main from the initial state to the final stead. state flow. Numerical results for the velocity, the temperature, the concentration, the skin friction, and.the Nusselt and.Sherwood.numbers are shown graph- ically for various flow parameters. The results reveal that there is a smooth transition of flow from unstead. state to the final stead. state. A special case of our results is in good.agreement with an earlier published.work.

Efficacy of Bacterial Ad.ptation on Copper Biod.ssolution from a Low Grad. Chalcopyrite Ore by A. ferrooxid.ns

A low-grad. ore containing ~0.3% Cu, remains unutilized.for want of a viable process at Malanjkhand.Copper Project (MCP), Ind.a in which copper is present as chalcopyrite associated.with pyrite in quartz veins and.granitic rocks. In ord.r to extract copper from this material, bioleaching has been attempted.on bench scale using Acid.thiobacillus fer-rooxid.ns (A. ferrooxid.ns) isolated.from the native mine water. The enriched.culture containing A. ferrooxid.ns when ad.pted.to the ore and.employed.for the bioleaching at 5% (w/v) pulp d.nsity, pH 2.0 and.25°C with three particle sizes viz.150 -76 μm, 76 - 50 μm and.SCE) from 530 to 654 mV in 35 d.ys. Und.r similar cond.tions, the unad.pted.strains gave a recovery of 44.0% for SCE from 525 to 650 mV. On using unad.pted.bacte-rial culture d.rectly in shake flask at pH 2.0 and.35°C temperature and.5% (w/v) pulp d.nsity (Pd. for 9 cells/mL in 35 d.ys. The higher bio-recovery of copper with the ad.pted.bacterial culture may be attributed.to the improved.iron oxid.tion (Fe2+ to Fe3+) exhibiting higher ESCE as compared.to that of unad.pted.strains.

Efforts have been mad. to prepare nanocomposites of a-Fe2O3-ZnO by wet chemical route with varying concentrations of the *** microstructural properties of the samples are investigated.by powd.r X-ray d.ffractometry（PXRd. and.Transmission electron *** concentration of Zn ions（up to 20 at%） lead. to the formation of nanocomposites of a-Fe2O3 and.*** of ZnFe2O4 phase is d.tected.by the substitution of higher concentration of Zn2？（30 at%） in the *** average size of the nanoparticles remains in the range of 22–27 nm as obtained.from XRd.*** results obtained.from electron microscopic stud.es are also close to these *** measurement shows the excitonic peak of ZnO around.390 nm which gets strengthened.with Zn *** spectra show the metal–oxygen band.below 700 *** temperature Mssbauer stud.es of the samples show the transition of iron oxid. form antiferromagnetic state to paramagnetic state with increasing concentration of Zn2？.Sharp quenching of hyperfine field.with Zn concentration is observed.as the Hintvalue red.ced.to zero from 51 T.

Membrane d.mage is one of the important consequence of chromium, an environmental toxicant, to prod.ce cytotoxicity. α-tocopherol, a membrane protectant can be used.to red.ce the chromium-ind.ced.membrane d.mage. In the present stud., the impact of chromium in presence and.absence of α-tocopherol was stud.ed.on plasma membrane of liver and.kid.ey in male Wistar rats (80—100 g bod. weight). Significant increase in membrane cholesterol level as well as significant d.crease in membrane phospholipid.level in chromium exposed.( 0.8 mg /100 g bod. weight/d. i.p., for 4 weeks) animals suggest structural alteration of both liver and.kid.ey plasma memebrane. The alkaline phosphatase, total ATPase and.Na +-K +-ATPase activities of plasma membrane were significantly d.creased.in both liver and.kid.ey after chromium treatment. However, α-tocopherol (30 mg/100 g d.et) supplementation can restrict the changes in these membrane-bound.enzyme activities. Thus, the usefulness of d.etary supplementation of α-tocopherol to restrain the chromium-ind.ced.membrane d.mage is suggested.

Hearing loss(HL)is a kind.of common illness,which can significantly red.ce the quality of *** example,HL often results in mishearing,misund.rstand.ng,and.communication ***,it is necessary to provid. early d.agnosis and.timely treatment for *** stud. investigated.the ad.antages and.d.sad.antages of three classical machine learning method.:multilayer perceptron(MLP),support vector machine(SVM),and.least-square support vector machine(LS-SVM)approach and.ad. a further optimization of the LS-SVM mod.l via wavelet *** investigation illustrated.that themultilayer perceptron is a shallowneural network,while the least square support vector machine uses hinge loss function and.least-square ***,a wavelet selection method.was proposed.and.we found.d.4 can achieve the best *** experiments showed.that the LS-SVM method.can id.ntify the hearing loss d.sease with an overall accuracy of three classes as 84.89±1.77,which is superior to SVM *** results show that the least-square support vector machine is effective in hearing loss id.ntification.

Background.Rice is a major cereal crop and.staple food.of eastern Ind.a,and.most farmers d.pend.solely on rice for their *** farming provid.s both tangible and.non-tangible benefits to ecosystems which need.to be maintained.and.*** benefits are provid.d.through ecosystem services(ES)that includ. both marketable and.***:In this stud.,the rice farms in eastern Ind.a were valued.by quantifying the economic value of the services und.r conventional method.of rice cultivation and.the gap of ecosystem services value and.farm income per unit area were assessed.A stratified.rand.m sampling technique was used.in this stud. for selection of agro-climatic zones,d.stricts,blocks,gram panchayat,and.stud. units(household.).Soil sampling was also performed.for assessing the regulating services(biocontrol of pests,carbon flow,soil erosion,nitrogen fixation),provisioning services(food.and.by-prod.cts),and.supporting services(soil fertility,hyd.ological flow,nutrient cycling,and.soil formation).Results:The results ind.cated.that the total economic value of ecosystem services ranged.from US$1238 to 1688 ha−1 year−*** marketed.primary prod.ction)and.non-marketed.ecosystem services values ranged.from 66–89 to 11–34%of the total,*** of some of the ecosystem services such as cultural services,biod.versity,and.gas regulation,which may play a significant role in total ecosystem services,has not been mad. d.e to non-availability of d.ta and.appropriate method.logy for rice *** values of parameters can explain the variability in ecosystem services among the agro-climatic zones in eastern *** of locations based.on variability of ecosystem services helps in id.ntifying intervention points for sustaining and.improving ecosystem services,while permitting sustainable agro-ecological *** highest total economic gap between ES value and.farm income was found.in the north central plateau zone(US$

Structural Tuning of Low Band.Gap Intermolecular Push/Pull Sid.-chain Polymers for Organic Photovoltaic Applications

A series of novel low band.gap d.nor-acceptor （d.A） type organic co-polymers （BT-F-TPA, BT-CZ-TPA and.BT-SI-TPA） consisting of electron-d.ficient acceptor blocks both in main chains （M1） and.at the pend.nt （M2） were polymerized.with d.fferent electron rich d.nor （M3-M5） blocks, i.e., 9,9-d.hexyl-9H-fluorene, N-alkyl-2,7-carbazole, and.2,6-d.thinosilole, respectively, via Suzuki method. These polymers exhibited.relatively low band.gaps （1.65-1.88 eV） and.broad.absorption ranges （680-740 nm）. Bulk heterojunction （BHJ） solar cells incorporating these polymers as electron d.nors, blend.d.with [6,6]-phenyl-C61-butyric acid.methyl ester （PC61BM） or [6,6]-phenyl-Cvl-butyric acid.methyl ester （PC71BM） as electron-acceptors in d.fferent weight ratios were fabricated.and.tested.und.r 100 mW/cm2 of AM 1.5 with white-light illumination. The photovoltaic d.vice containing d.nor BT-SI-TPA and.acceptor PC71BM in 1：2 weight ratio showed.the best power conversion efficiency （PCE） value of 1.88%, with open circuit voltage （Voc） = 0.75 V, short circuit current d.nsity （Jsc） = 7.60 mA/cm2, and.fill factor （FF） = 33.0%.
