KoNA:Korean Nucleotide Archive as A New Data Repository for Nucleotide Sequence Data

During the last decade,the generation and accumulation of petabase-scale high-throughput sequencing data have resulted in great challenges,including access to human data,as well as transfer,storage,and sharing of enormous amounts of *** promote data-driven biological research,the Korean government announced that all biological data generated from government-funded research projects should be deposited at the Korea BioData Station(K-BDS),which consists of multiple databases for individual data ***,we introduce the Korean Nucleotide Archive(KoNA),a repository of nucleotide sequence *** of July 2022,the Korean Read Archive in KoNA has collected over 477 TB of raw next-generation sequencing data from national genome *** ensure data quality and prepare for international alignment,a standard operating procedure was adopted,which is similar to that of the International Nucleotide Sequence Database *** standard operating procedure includes quality control processes for submitted data and metadata using an automated pipeline,followed by manual *** ensure fast and stable data transfer,a high-speed transmission system called GBox is used in ***,the data uploaded to or downloaded from KoNA through GBox can be readily processed using a cloud computing service called *** seamless coupling of KoNA,GBox,and Bio-Express enhances the data experience,including submission,access,and analysis of raw nucleotide *** not only satisfies the unmet needs for a national sequence repository in Korea but also provides datasets to researchers globally and contributes to advances in *** KoNA is available at https://***/kona/.

Acetylacetone-TiO2 Promoted Large Area Compatible Cascade Electron Transport Bilayer for Efficient Perovskite Solar Cells

In designing efficient perovskite solar cells（PSCs）,the selection of suitable electron transport layers（ETLs） is critical to the final device performance as they determine the driving force for selective charge ***2nanoparticles（NPs） based ETLs have been a popular choice for PSCs due to superior electron mobility,but their relatively deep-lying conduction band energy levels(ECB) result in substantial potential ***,TiO2NPs establish favorable band alignment owing to shallower ECB,but their low intrinsic mobility and abundant surface trap sites impede the final *** this reason,constructing a cascaded bilayer ETL is highly desirable for efficient PSCs,as it can rearrange energy levels and exploit on advantages of an individual *** this study,we prepare SnO2NPs and acetylacetone-modified TiO2（Acac-TiO2） NPs and implement them as bilayer SnO2/Acac-TiO2（BST） ETL,to assemble cascaded energy band ***2contributes to rapid charge carrier transport from high electron mobility while Acac-TiO2minimizes band-offset and effectively suppresses interfacial ***,the optimized BST ETL generates synergistic influence and delivers power conversion efficiency（PCE） as high as 23.14% with open-circuit voltage(VOC) reaching 1.14 ***,the BST ETL is transferred to a large scale and the corresponding mini module demonstrates peak performance of 18.39% PCE from 25 cm2aperture ***,the BST-based mini module exhibit excellent stability,maintaining83.1% of its initial efficiency after 1000 h under simultaneous 1 Sun lightsoaking and damp heat（85℃/RH 85%） environment.

Achieving historically anticipated improvement in the performance of integrated circuits is challenging,due to the increasing cost and complexity of the required technologies with each new *** overcome this limitation,the exploration and development of novel interconnect materials and processes are highly desirable in the microelectronics ***(Mo)is attracting attention as an advanced interconnect material due to its small resistivity size effect and high cohesive energy;however,effective processing methods for such materials have not been widely ***,we investigate the electrochemical behavior of ions in the confined nanopores that affect the electrical properties and microstructures of nanoscale Mo and Mo-Co alloys prepared via template-assisted *** in an electrolyte allow the deposition of extremely pure metal materials,due to their interac-tion with metal ions and *** this study,boric acid and tetrabutylammonium bisulfate(TBA)were added to an acetate bath to inhibit the hydrogen evolution *** accelerated the reduction of Mo at the surface by inducing surface conduction on the *** Mo nanowires with a 130 nm diameter synthesized through high-aspect-ratio nanopore engineering exhibited a resistivity of(63.0±17.9)μΩ*** also evaluated the resistivities of Mo-Co alloy nanowires at various compo-sitions toward replacing irreducible conventional barrier/liner *** intermetallic compound formed at a Mo composition of 28.6 at%,the resistivity of the Mo-Co nanowire was(58.0±10.6)μΩcm,indicat-ing its superior electrical and adhesive properties in comparison with those of conventional barriers such as TaN and ***,density functional theory and non-equilibrium Green's function calcula-tions confirmed that the vertical resistance of the via structure constructed from Mo-based materials was 21%lower than that of a conventional Cu/Ta/TaN structure.

Photonic crystal(PhC)phosphor,in which the phosphor material is periodically modulated for an enhancement in color-conversion efficiency via resonant absorption of excitation photons,is a paradigm-shifting structural phosphor ***-dimensional(2D)square-lattice PhC phosphor is currently considered the most advanced platform because of not only its high efficiency,but also its immunity to excitation *** the present study,two major modifications are made to further improve the performance of the 2D PhC phosphor:increasing the refractive index contrast and planarizing the *** index contrast is improved by replacing the PhC backbone material with TiO_(2)whereas the surface planarization is achieved by removing excessive colloidal quantum dots from the *** comparison with the reference phosphor,the upgraded PhC phosphor exhibits~59 times enhanced absorption(in simulations)and~7 times enhanced emission(in experiments),both of which are unprecedentedly *** results not only brighten the viability and applicability of the PhC phosphor but also spur the phosphor development through structural engineering of phosphor materials.

Biclustering of ARMA time series

Biclustering is a method of grouping objects and attributes simultaneously in order to find multiple hidden *** dealing with a long time series,there is a low possibility of finding meaningful clusters of whole time ***,we may find more significant clusters containing partial time sequence by applying a biclustering *** paper proposed a new biclustering algorithm for time series data following an autoregressive moving average (ARMA) *** assumed the plaid model but modified the algorithm to incorporate the sequential nature of time series *** maximum likelihood estimation (MLE) method was used to estimate coefficients of ARMA in each *** applied the proposed method to several synthetic data which were generated from different ARMA *** from the experiments showed that the proposed method compares favorably with other biclustering methods for time series data.

Introducing Ni in Ru oxide is a promising approach to enhance the catalytic activity for the oxygen evolution reaction(OER).However,the role of Ni(which has a poor intrinsic activity)is not fully ***,a Ru NiO_(x)electrode fabricated via a modified dip coating method exhibited excellent OER performance in acidic media,and neutral media for CO_(2)reduction *** combined in-situ/operando X-ray absorption near-edge structure and on-line inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry studies to unveil the role of the Ni introduced in the Ru *** propose that the Ni not only transforms the electronic structure of the Ru oxide,but also produces a large number of oxygen vacancies by distorting the oxygen lattice structure at low overpotentials,increasing the participation of lattice oxygen for *** work demonstrates the real behavior of bimetallic oxide materials under applied potentials and provides new insights into the development of efficient electrocatalysts.

Fabrication of sintering-free flexible copper nanowire/ polymer composite transparent electrodes with enhanced chemical and mechanical stability

The thermal decomposition synthesis of long copper nanowires （CuNWs） was achieved by controlling the synthesis parameters. A detailed study was performed to determine the effect of the molar ratio of copper chloride to nickel acetylacetonate, temperature, and stirring rate on the final shape of the products. Transparent electrodes （TEs） were fabricated by wet treatment with acetic acid （AA）, without using a sintering process. The low oxidation stability and high surface roughness are the main disadvantages of the CuNW TEs, which limit their applications. In order to overcome these issues, we prepared CuNW/polymer composite TEs by partial embedding of the CuNWs into poly（methyl methacrylate）（PMMA） on poly（ethylene terephthalate）（PET） substrates. The CuNW/PMMA composite TEs exhibit excellent optoelectronic performance （91.3% at 100.7 ff2/sq）, low surface roughness （4.6 nm in height）, and good mechanical and chemical stability as compared with CuNW TEs. On the basis of these properties, we believe that CuNW-based composite TEs could serve as low-cost materials for a wide range of new optoelectronic devices.

The variation of the three-dimensional(3D)structure of the membrane electrode of a fuel cell during proton exchange cycling involves the corrosion/compaction of the carbon *** increasing degradation of the carbon structure continuously reduces the electrocatalytic performance of proton exchange membrane fuel cells(PEM-FCs).This phenomenon can be explained by performing 3D tomographic analysis at the ***,conventional tomographic approaches which present limited experimental feasibility,cannot perform such evaluation and have not provided sufficient structural information with statistical significance thus ***,a reliable methodology is required for the 3D geometrical evaluation of the carbon ***,we propose a segmented tomographic approach which employs pore network analysis that enables the visualization of the geometrical parameters corresponding to the porous carbon structure at a high *** approach can be utilized to evaluate the 3D structural degradation of the porous carbon structure after cycling in terms of local surface area,pore size distribution,and their 3D *** geometrical parameters of the carbon body were demonstrated to be substantially reduced owing to the cycling-induced *** information enables a deeper understanding of the degradation phenomenon of carbon supports and can contribute to the development of stable PEM-FC electrodes.

Gastric cancer remains a significant global health concern and its surgical management approaches have undergone significant changes in South Korea and worldwide. Subtotal or total gastrectomy with D2 lymph node dissection is well established as a standard surgical procedure for gastric cancer. With the active implementation of cancer screening in South Korea, the proportion of early gastric cancer cases has significantly increased over the past few decades, leading to a steady increase in the survival rate among patients. Furthermore, recent advances in surgical instruments and techniques have made minimally invasive surgery increasingly prevalent, not only for early but also for advanced gastric cancer. We aim to provide a comprehensive overview of the evolution and current status of gastric cancer surgery in South Korea.

BACKGROUND The clinical trend and characteristics of peptic ulcer disease(PUD)have not fully been investigated in the past *** To evaluate the changing trends and characteristics of PUD according to age and METHODS We analyzed seven hospital databases converted into the Observational Medical Outcomes Partnership-Common Data Model between 2010 and *** classified patients with PUD who underwent rapid urease tests or Helicobacter pylori(***)serology into three groups:***-related,drug[nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs(NSAIDs)or aspirin]-related,and idiopathic(***/NSAID/aspirin-negative)PUD and compared the yearly trends and characteristics among the three *** We included 26785 patients in 7 databases,and the proportion of old age(≥65 years)was 38.8%.The overall number of PUD exhibited no decrease,whereas PUD in old age revealed an increasing trend(P=0.01 for trend).Of the 19601 patients,41.8%had ***-related,36.1%had drug-related,and 22.1%had idiopathic *** PUD exhibited a decreasing trend after 2014(P=0.01),drug-related PUD demonstrated an increasing trend(P=0.04),and idiopathic PUD showed an increasing trend in the old-age group(P=0.01)during 10 *** with drug-related PUD had significantly more comorbidities and concomitant ulcerogenic *** idiopathic PUD group had a significantly higher number of patients with chronic liver *** With the aging population increase,the effects of concomitant ulcerogenic drugs and preventive strategies should be investigated in drug-induced *** studies are required to clarify the relationship between idiopathic PUD and chronic liver disease.
