The energy storage properties of (1-x)Bi_(0.5)Na_(0.5)TiO_(3-x)BaTiO_(3)(0≤x≤0.08)(BNT-BT)ceramics obtained via sol-gel method are determined from the polarization versus electric field(P-E)loops at various *** energy storage densities are observed to increase with increase in temperature and this may be attributed to the presence of antiferroelectric(AFE)phase at higher temperature(≥120℃).Obvious changes are observed in the saturation polarization(P_(s)) and remnant polarization(P_(r)) with increasing *** maximum energy storage density of 0.6 J/cm^(3)is observed for x=0:06 in the AFE phase at 150℃for 90 kV/cm of applied electric ***-BT can be a promising candidate for energy storage devices to be used in above-roomtemperature environment.

The seasonal chronological events of the repreductive cycle in the male sheath-tailed bat T. longimanus and changes in structure and function of accessory sex organs were studied at Varanasi (latitude: 25° N, 83°E). The first peak of spermatogenesis was ob served in September with the appearance of spermatozoa. The spermatogenic arrest in win ter dormancy (December) was followed by a second peak of spermatogenesis in *** perbo coincides with ovulation in females. The third peak of spermatogenesis started after regression in late April, and completely regressed tubules were found after May. The cycle of accessory sex gland complex generally paralleled the testicular cycle, reaching maxi mum hypertrophy from September to January and again in late April. Thereafter, the ac cesory sex glands involuated. Spermatozoa were present in the cauda epididymidis through out the year. The reproductive cycle in family Emballonuridae varies with changes in lati tude, and this was so even in members of the same species. The presence of spermatozoa in the cauda epididymidis throughout the year is an interesting feature in the reproductive cy cle. The multiple molecular forms of cytoplasmic malate dehydrogenase (cMDH), mitochondrial malate dehydrogenase (mMDH ) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH ) were studied in the liver and skeletal muscle of the freshwater catfish, Clarias batrachus. There were two electrophoretically distinguishable bands (AA andBB) of cMDH and mMDH which suggests that they are apparently encoded at two gene loci (A and B) in both the ***, the presence of a single band (LDH-1 ) of LDH in liver and double bands (LDH-1and LDH-2) in skeletal muscle in which LDH-2 was predominant reflects the differential expression of LDH genes in different metabolic tissues to meet the requirement of energy production. The AA isoform (74 kd) of liver cMDH was smaller than those of the AA form (110 kd) of skeletal muscle. In contrast, the BB isoform of liver (42 kd) and skeletal muscle (54 kd) were more or less similar in size. Unlike the case of cMDH, the molecular weight of AA isoform (115 kd) of liver mMDH was higher than those of the AA form (87kd) of skeletal muscle. Whereas the molecular weight of BB isoform (58 kd) of liver was in proximity to the weight of BB form (44 kd) of skeletal muscle mMDH. The size of AA isoform (74 kd) of liver cMDH was smaller, while the AA isoform (110 kd) of skeletal muscle was larger as compared to AA form of mMDH in the liver (115 kd) and skeletal muscle (87 kd). But the size of BB isoform of both the isozymes was almost equal in these metabolic tissues. The molecular weight of liver LDH-1 (96 kd) was close to the weight of LDH-1 (82 kd) in skeletal muscle. The molecular weight of skeletal muscle LDH-2 was deduced as 37 kd which is much more lower than the weight of LDH-1 in liver and skeletal muscle. The smaller size of LDH-2 in skeletal muscle may be of a physiological significance in this anaerobic tissue

The low stress abrasion behaviours of heat treated mild, medium carbon and high C - low Cr steels, which are generally used in making farm implements, have been investigated. The simple heat treatment greatly improves the hardness, tensile strength and abrasion resistance of medium carbon and high C - low Cr steels. The results indicate that the material removal during abrasion is controlled by a number of factors, such as hardness, chemical composition, microstructure and heat treatment conditions. The conclusion is that the heat treated high C - low Cr steel and mild steel carburized by using coaltar pitch provide the best hardness and abrasion resistance and thus appear to be the most suitable materials for making agricultural tools.

Toxicity of 0.3 ppm (96 h LC50 value) and 0.03 ppm of mercuric chloride on the melanophores of the skin at different time intervals has been studied. Mercury treatment causes immediate increase in the number and size of the pigment cells. Subsequently these pigment cells form a dense matting of melanophore network with their cell processes intellacing with those of their neighbours. These cells later show degeneration and lysis releasing large quantity of pigment granules into the intercellular spaces in the *** the pigment cells regenerate several times each followed by degeneration in a cyclic manner. Prolonged treatment with subletha. concentration of mercuric chloride does not show significant alteration in the melanophore density and size. Statistical analysis and wide spread destruction of melanophores observed during 4-6 days of exPosure might help in testing water samples contaminated with lethal concentration of heavy metal salts

As a repository of REE,the Paleoproterozoic phosphorite of the Aravalli Basin in India is explored time to *** phosphorite deposits of the Sallopat sub-basin Banswara district of the Aravalli Supergroup show moderate REE concentrations much lower than that of average marine *** ratios and PAAS-normalized REE distribution patterns reflect MREE enrichment over LREE and HREE in these *** enrichment confirmed by(Sm/Yb)Nversus(Sm/Pr)Nrelationship and attributed to the selective uptake by cyanobacteria and mixing of riverine inputs.Y/Ho,La/Ce and Er/Nd ratios confirm that the REE in Sallopat phosphorites might have been affected by the argillaceous terrigenous and plagioclase-rich sediments probably derived from Banded Gneissic *** modeling indicates that REE were concentrated during early diagenetic processes with limited weathering *** negative to low Ce anomaly depicts oxic to sub-oxic conditions of seawater due to oxidation of Ce^(3+)to Ce^(4+)whereas Eu^(3+)reduced to Eu^(2+)indicating positive Euanomaly and reducing conditions as well during the *** anomalies may be due to the stratified restricted marine environment of upwelling and mingling of organic-rich anoxic deep water with oxic upper seawater prior to the formation of phosphorite deposits in the *** of REE in Sallopat phosphorite relies on various physico-chemical *** phosphorites may have been formed in restricted marine water which was influenced by extra clastic sediment input carried out by fluvial systems.

Finite deformation analysis of crack tip fields in plastically compressible hardening–softening–hardening solids

Crack tip fields are calculated under plane strain small scale yielding conditions. The material is characterized by a finite strain elastic-viscoplastic constitutive relation with various hardening-softening-hardening hardness functions. Both plastically compressible and plastically incompressible solids are considered. Displacements corresponding to the isotropic linear elastic mode I crack field are prescribed on a remote boundary. The initial crack is taken to be a semi-circular notch and symmetry about the crack plane is imposed. Plastic compressibility is found to give an increased crack opening displacement for a given value of the applied loading. The plastic zone size and shape are found to depend on the plastic compressibility, but not much on whether material softening occurs near the crack tip. On the other hand, the near crack tip stress and deformation fields depend sensitively on whether or not material softening occurs. The combination of plastic compressibility and softening (or softening-hardening) has a particularly strong effect on the near crack tip stress and deformation fields.

In the present work a thermodynamic model is presented for the nucleation of metastable Ag3Ge phase from the undercooled melt in Ag-Ge alloy system. It is shown that under kinetically induced favourable condition, nucleation of a single phase compound with an approximate stoichiometry Ag3Ge has greater affinity for nucleation over Ag and Ge based phases requiring diffusion in the liquid.
