A simulation method for measurement of the cross-section of the^(14)N(n,a)^(11)B reaction with gas and solid samples using a gridded ionization chamber(GIC)has been *** the simulation,the experimental spectra of both^(14)N(n,a)^(11)B events and background from other reactions can be predicted,and the experimental scheme can be *** to the simulation results,the optimal experimental parameters,including the pressure of the working gas and the compositions of the working gas and the sample,can be *** addition,the simulation results can be used to determine the valid event area and calculate the detection efficiency for valid events.A measurement of the cross-sections of the^(14)N(n,a)^(11)B reaction at E_(n)=4.25,4.50,4.75,5.00,5.25,and 5.50 MeV,based on the 4.5-MV Van de Graff accelerator at Peking University(PKU)using a GIC as the detector for the outgoing a particles,has been *** good agreement of the spectra from the simulation and experiment demonstrated the universality of this simulation method,which can be used to accurately measure neutroninduced light-charged particle emission reactions.

Objective PERK/elF2/CHOP is a major signaling pathway mediating endoplasmic reticulum （ER） stress related with atherosclerosis. Oxidized LDL （ox-LDL） also induces endothelial apoptosis and plays a vital role in the initiation and progression of atherosclerosis. The present study was conducted to explore the regulatory effect of ox-LDL on PERK/elF2a/CHOP signaling pathway in vascular endothelial cells. Methods The effects of ox-LDL on PERK and p-elF2a protein expression of primary human umbilical vein endothelial cells （HUVECs） were investigated by Western blot analysis. PERK gene silencing and selective elF2a phosphatase inhibitor, salubrinal were used to inhibit the process of ox-LDL induced endothelial cell apoptosis, caspase-3 activity, and CHOP mRNA level. Results Ox-LDL treatment significantly increased the expression of PERK, PERK-mediated inactivation of elF2a phosphorylation, and the expression of CHOP, as well as the caspase-3 activity and apoptosis. The effects of ox-LDL were markedly decreased by knocking down PERK with stable transduction of lentiviral shRNA or by selective elF2a phosphatase inhibitor, salubrinal. Conclusion This study provides the first evidence that ox-LDL induces apoptosis in vascular endothelial cells mediated largely via the PERK/elF2a/CHOP ER-stress pathway. It adds new insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying the pathogenesis and progression of atherosclerosis.

Amino acid methyl ester phosphates were synthesized and determined by using positive-ion mode dectrospmy ionization mass spectrometry（ESIMS） in combination with multistage tandem mass spectrometry. The fragmentation pathways were investigated, and it was observed that most fragment ions contained the phosphoryl group. It was interesting to observe that the fragmentation pathways of the protonated molecule show some differences when compared with those of the sodium ion adduct. The methoxy group of amino acid methyl ester can migrate from the carbonyl group to the phosphoryl group in the sodium ion adduct.

Background:Previous studies presented controversies in impact of body mass index(BMI)on perioper-ative complications in pancreatectomy,and mainly focused on Western *** study aimed to explore the impact of BMI on perioperative outcomes in Chinese patients undergoing ***:Seven hundred and seven adult patients undergoing open pancreaticoduodenectomy between January 2005 and December 2016 at Ruijin Hospital were studied retrospectively and categorized as obese(BMI≥25 kg/m^2),overweight(BMI≥23 kg/m^2 and<25 kg/m^2),or normal weight(BMI≥18.5 kg/m^2 and<23 kg/m^2).Associations of these BMI groups with perioperative outcomes were ***:The overweight and obese groups experienced higher risk of clinically related postoperative pan-creatic fistula(CR-POPF)(7.6%vs.9.9%vs.17.6%,P=0.002)and re-operation(1.1%vs.2.5%vs.5.1%,P=0.017),and longer systemic inflammation response syndrome(SIRS)duration[2(1–9)d vs.2(1–7)d vs.3(1–10)d,P=0.003]and postoperative hospital stay[19(2–84)d vs.19(7–158)d vs.23(8–121)d,P=0.023]than the normal weight group *** multiple logistic regression models showed obese as an independent risk factor for CR-POPF(P=0.013).The multiple linear regression analysis confirmed BMI as a predictor for prolonged postoperative hospital stay(P=0.005).Conclusions:Higher BMI results in higher morbidity of Chinese patients undergoing open *** is still a safe surgery procedure for overweight and obese patients,with intensive perioperative management.

AIM: To study the feasibility and safety of middle segmental pancreatectomy (MSP) compared with pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD) and extended distal pancreatectomy (EDP). METHODS: We studied retrospectively 36 cases that underwent MSP, 44 patients who underwent PD, and 26 who underwent EDP with benign or low-grade malignant lesions in the mid-portion of the pancreas, between April 2003 and December 2009 in Ruijin Hospital. The perioperative outcomes and long-term outcomes of MSP were compared with those of EDP and PD. Periop-erative outcomes included operative time, intraoperative hemorrhage, transfusion, pancreatic fistula, intraabdominal abscess/infection, postoperative bleeding, reoperation, mortality, and postoperative hospital time. Long-term outcomes, including tumor recurrence, newonset diabetes mellitus (DM), and pancreatic exocrine insufficiency, were evaluated. RESULTS: Intraoperative hemorrhage was 316.1 ± 309.6, 852.2 ± 877.8 and 526.9 ± 414.5 mL for the MSP, PD and EDP groups, respectively (P < 0.05). The mean postoperative daily fasting blood glucose level was significantly lower in the MSP group than in the EDP group (6.3 ± 1.5 mmol/L vs 7.3 ± 1.5 mmol/L, P < 0.05). The rate of pancreatic fistula was higher in the MSP group than in the PD group (42% vs 20.5%, P = 0.039), all of the fistulas after MSP corresponded to grade A (9/15) or B (6/15) and were sealed following conservative treatment. There was no significant difference in the mean postoperative hospital stay between the MSP group and the other two groups. After a mean follow-up of 44 mo, no tumor recurrences were found, only one patient (2.8%) in the MSP group vs five (21.7%) in the EDP group developed new-onset insulin-dependent DM postoperatively (P = 0.029). Moreover, significantly fewer patients in the MSP group than in the PD (0% vs 33.3%, P < 0.001) and EDP (0% vs 21.7%, P = 0.007) required enzyme substitution. A Fourier transform spectrometer(FTS)has been used to observe solar activities due to its ultra-high spectral ***,the FTS in-band spectra are usually distorted and some artifacts appear in out-of-band regions due to nonlinear ***,the FTS nonlinear problem must be *** this study,we proposed a novel method to correct the nonlinear effects using simulated *** simulated several nonlinear spectra to evaluate the performance of our *** calculated quadratic coefficients are extremely close to the given values,demonstrating that the method is effective and *** proposed method is further used to correct the blackbody and solar spectra with nonlinearity obtained by Bruker IFS-125HR installed at the Huairou Solar Observing Station,which is a pathfinder for the accurate infrared magnetic field measurements of the Sun *** the blackbody spectra,the nonlinearity in low-and high-frequency regions are corrected by 89.09%and 60.84%.The nonlinear correction of the solar spectra in the low-and high-frequency regions have reached 65.34%and 81.04%,*** results prove that our method can correct the nonlinear problem to improve the data accuracy.

Segmentation and density statistics of mariculture cages from remote sensing images using mask R-CNN

The normal growth of fishes is closely relevant to the density of mariculture. It is of greatsignificance to accurately calculate the breeding area of specific sea area from satelliteremote sensing images. However, there are no reports about cage segmentation and den-sity detection based on remote sensing images so far. And the accurate segmentation ofcages faces challenges from very large high-resolution images. Firstly, a new public mari-culture cage data set is built. Secondly, the training set is augmented via sample variationsto improve the robustness of the model. Then, for cage segmentation and density statistics,a new methodology based on Mask R-CNN is proposed. Using dividing and stitching tech-nologies, the entire remote sensing test images of the cage can be accurately ***, using the trained model, the object detection features and segmentation character-istics can be obtained at the same time. Considering only the area within the target detec-tion frame, the proposed method can count the pixels in the segmented area, which canobtain accurate area and density while reducing time-consuming. Experimental resultsdemonstrate that, compared with traditional contour extraction method and U-Net basedscheme, the proposed scheme can significantly improve segmentation precision and mod-el’s robustness. The relative error of the actual area is only 1.3%.

The application of a double-face reinforced retaining wall during road construction can reduce engineering costs, speed road paving and have a good influence on environment. An ABAQUS numerical model of a double-face reinforced retaining wall was built. The influence of surface subsidence induced by mining was considered. A physical model test was also performed in the laboratory on a reinforced retaining wall. The influence of subsidence induced by mining was observed. The numerical results match measurements in the laboratory very well. The vertical pressure on the base of the retaining wall, the horizontal displacement of the wall and the horizontal soil pressure acting on the wall were analyzed. The differential settlement of the reinforced belt and axial forces in the wall were also studied.

Objective Current clinical evidence on the effects of home blood pressure telemonitoring(HBPT)on improving blood pressure control comes entirely from developed ***,we performed this randomized controlled trial to evaluate whether HBPT plus support(patient education and clinician remote hypertension management)improves blood pressure control more than usual care(UC)in the Chinese *** This single-center,randomized controlled study was conducted in Beijing,*** aged 30-75 years were eligible for enrolment if they had blood pressure[systolic(SBP)≥140 mmHg and/or diastolic(DBP)≥90 mmHg;or SBP≥130 mmHg and/or DBP≥80 mmHg with diabetes].We recruited 190 patients randomized to either the HBPT or the UC groups for 12 *** primary endpoints were blood pressure reduction and the proportion of patients achieving the target blood *** Totally,172 patients completed the study,the HBPT plus support group(n=84),and the UC group(n=88).Patients in the plus support group showed a greater reduction in mean ambulatory blood pressure than those in the UC *** plus support group had a significantly higher proportion of patients who achieved the target blood pressure and maintained a dipper blood pressure pattern at the12th week of ***,the patients in the plus support group showed lower blood pressure variability and higher drug adherence than those in the UC *** HBPT plus additional support results in greater blood pressure reduction,better blood pressure control,a higher proportion of dipper blood pressure patterns,lower blood pressure variability,and higher drug adherence than *** development of telemedicine may be the cornerstone of hypertension management in primary care.
