Qualitative Analyses of Correlations between Strong Ground Motions of the Three Large Earthquakes and Landslide Distributions

In this work,the correlations between spatial distributions of landslide point density(LPD)and strong ground motions of the three strong earthquakes are qualitatively investigated.Meanwhile the qualitative relationship between the distribution of LPD and the fault rupture process is also characterized.Three strong events are the Lushan,Wenchuan,and Jiuzhaigou earthquakes.In order to reconstruct the near filed strong ground motions and the fault processes of these earthquakes,the broadband ground simulation method of University of California Santa Barbara(UCSB)and the simplified crustal layer structures are applied.To show the rationality of the UCSB method,the fault slip distributions of the three earthquakes reconstructed by the kinematic rupture generator model in the UCSB method are compared with those by inversed.Furthermore,the validation of the UCSB method for the three earthquakes is also carried according to the validation exercise of the Southern California Earthquake Center(SCEC)Broadband Platform(BBP).Lastly,the fields of peak ground acceleration(PGA)and peak ground velocity(PGV)in three mutually perpendicular directions of the three earthquakes are achieved.Generally,the landslide distribution length of large LPD values along the fault strike is less than the fault strike length.Therefore,the slip modes of earthquake faults affect the distributions of landslides.For the strike slip earthquakes,the distributions of large LPD values relate well to PGA and PGV components of the parallel and normal to the fault strike.For the reverse slip earthquakes,distributions of LPD relate to ground motion components in all directions.Moreover,distributions of landslides in near fields of earthquakes are significantly affected by the focus parameters and fault scales.

Prediction Model of Kinetic Energy Conversion of Tandem Dual-Oscillator Based on Flow-Induced Vibration Experiment

Flow-induced vibration energy harvesting devices typically use an elastically supported body immersed in an oncoming flow to convert the sea and river current's hydrokinetic energy into electrical energy.The proportion of energy the device collects is greatly influenced by parameters such as the water flow velocity,spacing between device components,structure size,and damping coefficient.For parameter optimization and performance predictions of flow-induced vibration energy harvesting devices,we train a model of the power harvesting efficiency under different damping ratios,stiffnesses,spacing ratios,and reduced velocities based on experimental data.To improve the prediction accuracy,a feedforward network structure is optimized by using the topological evolutionary algorithm and a radial basis function network.Comparative analysis reveals that the radial basis function network model provides the best agreement with the experimental results and realizes accurate predictions of the power harvested by a dual-oscillator system in the vortex-induced vibration,transition region,and galloping.The prediction results show that the model's maximum power harvesting efficiency occurs in the vortex-induced vibration.The efficiency increases and then decreases with increasing stiffness and reduced velocity in this phase;an increase in the spacing ratio causes the effi-ciency to decrease and then increase;finally,increasing the damping ratio enhances the efficiency.The device achieves maximum power harvesting efficiency at a reduced velocity of U_(r)=4.11.The proposed model effectively predicts the maximum efficiency and the corresponding damping ratio and stiffness of the vortex-induced vibration and galloping,providing a new method for predicting tandem dual-oscillator hydrodynamic power conversion in flow-induced vibration.

Temperature influence on minimum fluidization velocity:Complexity,mechanism,and solutions

Fluidized-bed reactors are widely employed in various high-temperature industrial processes.Thus,it is crucial to understand the temperature effect on various fluidization phenomena,specifically the minimum fluidization velocity(U mf)that governs various aspects of fluidized bed behavior.In this study,we comprehensively analyze U mf data from the literature to unravel the complexity and underlying mechanisms of temperature influence on this critical velocity.The research examines experimental data encompassing a wide range of temperatures,pressures,and solid particles.The analysis reveals that the influence of temperature on U mf is fundamentally determined by the relative importance of hydrodynamic forces and interparticle forces within fluidized beds and is realized by three distinctive temperature-induced changes:gas properties,bed voidage,and physiochemical characteristics of particles.On this basis,an equation is derived to enable predictions of temperature influences on the minimum fluidization velocity under broad temperature conditions.

Hot Corrosion Resistance of TB8 Titanium Alloy after ECAP and Heat Treatment

The metastableβtitanium alloy TB8(Ti-12.76Mo-2.13Nb-2.73A1-0.16Si)was used as the original material,and the secondary processing method combining equal channel angular pressing(ECAP)and heat treatment was adopted.With the help of optical microscope(OM),scanning electron microscope(SEM)and X-ray diffractometer(XRD),the corrosion behavior of TB8 titanium alloy after different secondary processing(800℃/850℃solid solution-520℃aging,ECAP-800℃/850℃solid solution-520℃aging,and800℃/850℃solid solution-ECAP-520℃aging)was studied.The experimental results show that the hot corrosion products of the six samples are similar,mainly Na_(2)Si_(2)O_(5),MoS_(2),TiCl_(2),Ti(SO_(4))_(2),and TiS.Due to the grains of the TB8 titanium alloy treated by 850℃solid solution-ECAP-520℃aging are obviously refined,the surface structure is the most smooth and dense,forming a continuous Al2O3protective film,and the surface defects are the least after corrosion.Its corrosion layer thickness is the lowest(102.3μm),only 36.5%-81.4%of that of other secondary processing titanium alloys.In addition,the corrosion kinetics curves of the six materials all follow parabolic laws,and the minimum corrosion weight gain of the samples after 850℃solutionECAP-520℃aging treatment is 0.7507 mg·mm^(-2),showing better hot corrosion resistance.

Portable measurement of ammonia nitrogen in water is of great significance for water qual-ity monitoring.It’s beneficial to reduce biological diseases and promote aquatic product safety.Traditional methods such as Nessler’s reagent method suffer from complex opera-tion,time delays and toxic residues.To realize simple and pollution-free detection,this paper develops a low-cost portable device for ammonia nitrogen detection.A test paper was proposed to cooperate the device and offer a chromogenic reaction.The portable device reduces the impact of any ambient light,simplifies the operation,and provides human–computer interaction.The result obtained for the detection range of 0.4–10 mg/L(R^(2) are 0.9902 and 0.9893 for the rang of 0.4–4.5 and 4.5–10 mg/L,respectively)with the detection limit of 0.36 mg/L,and the average recovery of aquaculture water is 100.98–137.75%.The results show that the portable device can provide a great potential for on-site detection ammonia nitrogen concentration.

Numerical Simulation of Icing on Nrel 5-MW Reference Offshore Wind Turbine Blades Under Different Icing Conditions

Offshore wind energy resources are operational in cold regions,while offshore wind turbines will face the threat of icing.Therefore,it is necessary to study icing of offshore wind turbines under different icing conditions.In this study,icing sensitivity of offshore wind turbine blades are performed using a combination of FLUENT and FENSAP-ICE software,and the effects of liquid water content(LWC),medium volume diameter(MVD),wind speed and air temperature on blade icing shape are analyzed by two types of ice,namely rime ice and glaze ice.The results show that the increase of LWC and MVD will increase the amount of ice that forms on the blade surface for either glaze ice or rime ice,and an increase of MVD will expand the adhesion surface between ice and blade.Before reaching the rated wind speed of 11.4 m/s,it does not directly affect the icing shape.However,after reaching the rated wind speed,the attack angle of the incoming flow decreases obviously,and the amount of ice increases markedly.When the ambient air temperature meets the icing conditions of glaze ice(i.e.,−5℃ to 0℃),the lower the temperature,the more glaze ice freezes,whereas air temperature has no impact on the icing of rime ice.Compared with onshore wind turbines,offshore wind turbines might face extreme meteorological conditions,and the wind speed has no impact on the amount of ice that forms on the blade surface for most wind speeds.

Improvement in resolution of fiber-laser photoacoustic tomography based on a virtual-point concept

In this study,a virtual-point concept was introduced into fiber-laser photoacoustic tomography to improve the elevational image resolution.The flexible fiber laser was bent into an arc shape to conform to the ultrasound wavefront,which formed an ultrasound focus at the center of the arc.The synthetic aperture focusing technique was utilized to reconstruct the images;as a result,the elevational resolution particularly within the out-of-focus region was considerably improved compared to the resolution of an image retrieved by multiplexing the PA time-resolved signals with sound velocity.The all-optical fiber-laser photoacoustic tomography system with a high spatial resolution has potential for various applications,including biomedical research and preclinical/clinical diagnosis.

松辽盆地是目前世界上已发现油气资源最为丰富的陆相含油气盆地之一,也是我国主要的大型油气资源基地。目前,松辽盆地常规油气资源探明率已达62.3%,常规油气增储难度较大,基本进入非常规油气勘探开发阶段(孙龙德等,2021)。松辽盆地上白垩统青山口组陆相页岩油的勘探已经取得了实质性的突破,有望成为新的增储上产领域。松辽盆地下白垩统也发育多套陆相富有机质页岩,具有可观的陆相页岩气资源潜力。沙河子组页岩是松辽盆地下白垩统主力烃源岩,页岩分布范围广,总面积超过4万km^(2)(赵泽辉等,2016)。
