in this study,the effects of purification,dehydration,and coagulation processes on the absorption and reduced scattering coefficients of chicken liver tissues have been investigated by using a single integrating sphere *** purification process performed on the tissue samples to remove blood residue has been found to cause a slight change in the optical *** the dehydration process brings about an increase in the absorption coefficient due to the water loss,no direct relationship has been observed between the reduced scattering coefficient and the dehydration level of the *** addition,it has been observed that there was a relatively small increase in the absorption coefficient and a significant increase in the reduced scattering coefficient after the coagulation ***,it can be said that the optical penetration depth decreased significantly after dehydration and coagulation processes unlike blood ***,fluence rate distributions inside the fresh,blood purified,dehydrated,and coagulated tissue models have been investigated by using the Monte Carlo modeling of photon transport in multilayered tissues simulation code.

BACKGROUND Cornelia de Lange syndrome(CdLS)is a congenital multisystemic genetic *** expected lifespan of children with this disorder has been prolonged in parallel with the advances in medicine in recent ***,they still more frequently undergo cardiac *** are some challenges for clinicians when faced with CdLS *** present the perioperative management of a child with CdLS undergoing open-heart *** SUMMARY Severe pulmonic and subpulmonic valvular stenosis,enlargement of the right side of the heart,mild tricuspid regurgitation,atrial septal defect,and patent ductus arteriosus were diagnosed in a 14-month-old boy with manifested cyanosis,developmental delay,and *** balloon valvuloplasty was unsuccessful due to a severe stenotic pulmonary valve,therefore it was decided to perform an open surgical *** a successful and uncomplicated intraoperative course,the patient was extubated on postoperative day 5,and adrenalin and dopamine infusions were gradually decreased and stopped on postoperative days 6 and 10,*** laryngomalacia and suboptimal vocal cord movements were diagnosed,and tracheotomy and percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy were performed under general anesthesia in the same session at postoperative day *** patient was discharged on postoperative day 85 after a challenging postoperative period with additional airway and nutritional *** This is the first report of the perioperative anesthetic and clinical management of a CdLS patient undergoing open-heart surgery.

Dynamic earth pressure induced by machine foundations on a neighboring retaining wall is analyzed with emphasis on factors which control the intensity and location of the design forces. The meshless local Petrov-Galerkin (MLPG) method is used to analyze the problem for a variety of retaining wall and machine foundation geometries. The soil medium is assumed to be homogeneous and visco-elastic. The machine foundation is idealized as a harmonic sinusoidal dynamic force often encountered in practice. A number of analyses have been made to reveal the effect of the loading frequency, the location and size of the foundation and the soil shear wave velocity on the distribution and magnitude of the dynamic earth pressure. Results indicate that there is a critical frequency and a critical location for which the passive pressure takes the maxima in the entire duration of the dynamic load.

Objective:The study aimed to determine the faculty of the health sciences students’knowledge and attitudes regarding the coronavirus disease 2019(COViD-19)*** and Methods:This cross-sectional survey was completed with 317 undergraduate students of one health sciences faculty in *** data were collected between March 1,2020,and March 15,2020,by face-to-face interviews using a questionnaire created by the ***,percentage,mean,standard deviation,and Pearson Chi-square test were used to evaluate the ***:in this study,a high proportion of students answered questions about COViD-19 *** 55.8%of the students took partial precautions against COViD-19 to protect themselves against COViD-19 and“frequent washing of hands”was the most common *** determined that the main reasons for not taking any precautions against COViD-19 were“low number of cases in Turkey”and“getting irritated by the mask.”About 98.4%of the participants were entirely/partially following the news on COViD-19,with social media being the most commonly used *** students took more protective measures than male *** 1st-year students had more positive thoughts about vaccination compared to those in the other ***:Although the knowledge of the students about COViD-19 was good in the first wave of the pandemic,more than half of the students stated that they partially complied with the protective measures.

AiM: To determine the prevalence, main causes, and related factors of visual impairment(Vi) among people aged 50 y and over in Jalalabad City and four surrounding districts of Nangarhar Province of Afghanistan. METHODS: The data for the population based crosssectional study was collected in 2015. The calculated sample size was 1353, allocated to urban-rural strata using probability proportion to size method. At the end of the study, 1281 people participated in to the study. Vi was defined as presenting visual acuity(VA) of less than 6/18 and blindness as VA less than 3/60 in the better eye by using Snellen chart only. Data was analyzed using iBM SPSS 21.0 ***: The prevalence of Vi was 22.6%(95%Ci, 20%-25%) of which 13.9%(95%Ci, 12%-16%) was low vision and 8.7%(95%Ci, 7%-10%) was blindness. The most common causes of the Vi were cataract(52.8%), followed by uncorrected refractive error(URE)(26.9%) and glaucoma(8.6%). Number one cause of the low vision was URE(42%), followed by cataract, glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration(AMD) and diabetic retinopathy(DR), while for blindness they are cataract(72%), other posterior segment disorders, glaucoma, URE and AMD. illiteracy, bad economic status, hypertension and overweight were factors independently associated with both Vi and low vision, whereas, age, illiteracy, bad economic status, hypertension and using of sunglasses were independently associated with ***: Cataract, URE, glaucoma, AMD and DR are the leading causes of Vi and blindness in the study area. They are mostly avoidable. in order to decrease theburden of Vi and blindness in the study area as well as the whole country, it is strongly recommended to apply the prevention policies of Vi and blindness.

BACKGROUND Brain arteriovenous malformations(bAVMs)remains one of the most prevalent causes of intracranial hemorrhage and stroke-like syndromes in the young adult *** it has been agreed upon that definitive treatment using either single or multi-modal approach is warranted for successful bAVM management,much debate still revolves regarding the optimal timing of definitive *** SUMMARY in this report,we present a case of delayed,definitive endovascular treatment for ruptured bAVM in a 21-year-old female,3 mo *** bAVM,with a left pericallosal feeding artery and cortical draining veins,was successfully obliterated through embolization using the Onyx *** follow-up the patient has recommenced her daily activities and experiences only mild occasional headaches with mild motor *** report leads to our review on an important issue regarding the optimal timing of ruptured bAVM definitive management and bring forward the current evidence available on delayed vs immediate definitive bAVM *** also highlight current issues that need to be addressed for clearer guidelines on definitive therapy *** Current treatment paradigms of ruptured bAVM remains elusive,with substantial heterogeneity in the current literature.A consensus on the definition of“acute”vs“delayed”,management goal,follow-up length and outcome parameters are required to support formation of a clear paradigm.

To evaluate the efficacy of interferon (iFN) alpha-2b and lamivudine therapy in children with chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection Method Ten children who developed chronic hepatitis B infection received iFN alpha-2b 10 million international units (iU)/m 2 body surface area, subcutaneously three times a week for six months iFN+lamivudine therapy began to be used in the cases who were unresponsive to iFN treatment Results Among 27 HBsAg (+) subjects in this study, interferon treatment was given to 11 subjects who developed chronic hepatitis One case was excluded from the study due to detection of Herpes type 1 encephalitis At the end of six months of follow-up, complete response was obtained in three (30%) patients and partial response in four (40%) patients, whereas no response was detected in three (30%) patients Fifty percent of the cases experienced serological response, 70% biochemical response, and all (100%) had histological response in three cases started concomitant iFN+lamivudine therapy, HBV-DNA became negative at the second month of treatment Conclusions iFN-alpha and lamivudine can be used for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B infection in children

Background This paper presents a retrospective study to classify patients into subtypes of the treatment according to baseline and longitudinally observed values considering heterogenity in migraine prognosis. in the classical prospective clinical studies, participants are classified with respect to baseline status and followed within a certain time period. However, latent growth mixture model is the most suitable method, which considers the population heterogenity and is not affected drop-outs if they are missing at random. Hence, we planned this comprehensive study to identify prognostic factors in migraine.
