Background: Cancer colon is one of the most common malignancies. After colon cancer surgery patients may experience severe pain. Several studies have reported that a significant decrease in postoperative pain with propofol while other studies have showed this effect was not significant. Aim: Our goal was to assess the effect of combined epidural anaesthesia either with propofol or sevoflurane on intraoperative fentanyl consumption and postoperative pain in patients undergoing open surgical resection of colon cancer. The goal of this study was to use statistical optimization to change the nutritional and environmental conditions so that Streptomyces baarensis MH-133 could make more active *** trials were used to screen for critical variables influencing productivity using the Placket-Burman Design *** MH-133 is significantly influenced by elicitation,yeast extract,inoculum size,and incubation period in terms of antibacterial activity.A total of 27 experimental trials with various combinations of these factors were used to carry out the response surface technique using the Box-Behnken *** analyses revealed that the model was highly significant(p<0.001),with a lack-of-fit of 0.212 and a coefficient determination(R2)of ***,the model predicted that the response as inhibition zone diameter would reach a value of 27 *** optimal conditions,*** MH-133 produced 18.0 g of crude extract to each 35L and was purified with column *** active fraction exhibiting antibacterial activity was characterized using spectroscopic *** MIC and MBC values varied between 37.5 and 300μg/ml and 75 and 300μg/ml,*** conclusion,the biostatistical optimization of the active fraction critical variables,including environmental and nutritional conditions,enhances the production of bioactive molecules by Streptomyces species.

Increasing global water shortages are accelerating the pace of membrane manufacturing,which generates many environmentally harmful *** challenges need a radical rethink of developing innovative membranes that can address freshwater production without generating environmentally harmful *** work utilized the synthesized ultra-long hydroxyapatite(UHA)by the solvothermal method using the green solvent oleic acid in preparing UHA-based forward osmosis *** membranes were developed using different loading ratios of graphene oxide(GO)by vacuum-assisted filtration *** prepared GO/UHA membranes were identified using X-ray diffraction,scanning electron microscope,Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy,and X-ray photoelectron *** contact angle and pore size distribution were determined for the obtained GO/UHA *** obtained hierarchical porous structure in the prepared membranes with interconnected channels results in a stable water flux with reverse salt *** best water flux rate of 42±2 L·m^(–2)·h^(–1)was achieved using the 50 mg GO/UHA membrane,which is 3.3 times higher than the pristine membrane,and a reverse salt flux of 67 g·m^(-2)·h^(–1).The obtained results showed a promising capability of a new generation of sustainable inorganic-based membranes that can be utilized in freshwater generation by energy-efficient techniques such as forward osmosis.

Rice straw(RS)collected from Egyptian agricultural environment(Al-Masied village-Alsharqia Governorate-Egypt)was used as substrate for three fungal isolates namely:4b,1Asp,Pleurotus ostreatus NRRL 3501 and mixed culture of(4b,1Asp).Isolates number 4b and 1Asp were identified using the molecular technique(18S rRNA).Isolate 4b and 1Asp,were identified as Trichoderma saturnisporum MN1-EGY and Aspergillus niger MN2-EGY,*** saturnisporum MN1-EGY extract exhibited the highest antimicrobial activity compared to the other fungal *** phenolic,antimicrobial and antioxidant activities were also determined from the ethyl acetate extract of rice straw inoculated by these *** antioxidant scavenging concentration(SC50)values of the tested samples were 88.84,91.45,94.65 and 100.0μg/ml,respectively for Pleurotus sp.,Aspergiluus niger,Aspergiluus niger+Trichoderma sp.,and Trichoderma sp.,after 15 days incubation,compared to ascorbic acid as positive control with SC50 value equal to 8.0μg/*** phenolic contents(TPCs)were maximum in Pleurotus *** and found to be the most polyphenolic enriched sample(380.64 mg GAE/g dry extract)compared to extracts of Aspergiluusniger,Aspergiluus niger+Trichoderma sp.,and Trichoderma sp.(261.89,198.52,and 119.80 mg GAE/g dry extract),*** GC-MS analysis has been also performed for the promising extracts.

The present work focuses on the development of a novel computer-based approach for tear ferning(TF)*** original TF images of the recently developedfive-point grading scale have been used to assign a grade for any TF image automatically.A vector characteristic(VC)representing each grade was built using the reference images.A weighted combination between features selected from textures analysis using gray level co-occurrence matrix(GLCM),power spectrum(PS)analysis and linear specificity of the image were used to build the VC of each grade.A total of 14 features from texture analysis were *** at di®erent frequency points and number of line segments in each image were also *** features from GLCM have shown significant di®erences between the recently developed grading scale images which are:angular second moment at 0and 45,contrast,and correlation at 0and 45;thesefive features were all included in the characteristic *** specific power frequencies were used in the VC because of the discrimination *** of line segments was also chosen because of dissimilarities between images.A VC for each grade of TF reference images was constructed and was found to be significantly different from each other'*** is a basic and fundamental step toward an automatic grading for computer-based diagnosis for dry eye.

Investigation of climate change impacts on food security has become a global hot *** so,efforts to mitigate these issues in arid regions have been ***,in this paper,further research is discussed based on data obtained from various crop and climate *** DSSATcrop models(CMs)(CERESWheat and N-Wheat)were calibrated with two wheat cultivars(Gemiza9 and Misr1).A baseline simulation(1981-2010)was compared with different scenarios of simulations using three Global Climate Models(GCMs)for the 2030s,2050s and *** impacts of climate change were assessed using the GCMs and CMs under the high emission Representative Concentration Pathway(RCP8.5).Results predicted decreased wheat grain yields by a mean of 8.7%,11.4%and 13.2%in the 2030s,2050s and 2080s,respectively,relative to the baseline *** impacts of climatic change are probable,despite some uncertainties within the GCMs(i.e.,2.1%,5.0%and 8.0%)and CMs(i.e.,2.2%,6.0%and 9.2%).Changing the planting date with a scenario of plus or minus 5 or 10 days from the common practice was assessed as a potentially effective adaptation option,which may partially offset the negative impacts of climate *** the sowing date by 10 days(from 20 November to 30 November)proved the optimum scenario and decreased further reduction in wheat yields resulting from climate change to 5.2%,6.8%and 8.5%in the 2030s,2050s and 2080s,respectively,compared with the 20 November *** planting 5-days earlier scenario showed a decreased impact on climate change ***,the 10-days early planting scenario increased yield reduction under projected climate *** cultivar Misr1 was more resistant to rising temperature than *** the negative impacts of projected climate change on wheat production,water use efficiency would slightly *** ensemble of multi-model estimated impacts and adaptation uncertainties of climate change can assist decision-makers in planning clima

Background: Whether on-call gastroenterologists should perform emergency endoscopic treatment or delay endoscopy the next day has not been investigated. This study aims to investigate the effect of timing of endoscopy on patients with acute esophageal variceal bleeding. Patients and Methods: We included 167 patients with acute variceal bleeding in the gas-troenterology unit of the air force hospital, Cairo, Egypt, from 15 January till 15 July 2010. Endoscopy was scheduled once the patient’s hemodynamics permitted. Time from admission to endoscopy was recorded. Patients were stratified into 2 groups: Early endoscopy: when done ≤ 12 hours and late endoscopy: when done > 12 hours. Patients were followed up for 42 days. Results: The study included 102 males (61.1%) and 65 females (38.9%) (mean age 54 ± 11 years). 151 patients received endoscopic treatment. Early endoscopy group included 85 patients (56.3%), and the late endoscopy group included 66 patients (43.7%) (p = 0.14). Early endoscopy patients were transfused a mean of 2.9 (±1.8) units of blood versus 4.3 (±0.14) units in the late endoscopy patients p = 0.001. Mean hospital stay was 7.1 (±3.3) days versus 9.3 (±4.6) days in the early and late groups respectively p: 0.001. 5-day mortality was reported in 6 (±7) cases in the early endoscopy group and 23 (±34.8) cases in the late endoscopy group p: 0.001. Conclusion: Early endoscopic intervention for patients with acute variceal bleeding is associated with a more favorable outcome in terms of morbidity and mortality. On call gastroenterologists should comply with the 12-hour period rather than delaying cirrhotic patients with acute variceal bleeding to the following day.

An experiment was conducted on the survival rate of protoscoleces derived from hydatid cyst brought from infected camels in Tambool area (North Eastern Sudan). The survival rate was studied in vivo and in vitro through exposure to different constant temperatures to measure their viability. The results revealed that the protoscoleces remained viable in vitro for 20 days at 4°C, 7 and 5 days at 25°C and 37°C, respectively, while at 45°C the protoscoleces were immediately dead. This means that the infection rate of hydatid cyst becomes high in relatively cold seasons (winter and autumn). In the in vivo study, each mouse (five groups, four mice in each) was inoculated intraperitoneally with 2000 protoscoleces exposed to the same different constant temperature, as previously used. 6 months later, the mice in different groups were sacrificed and necropsied to study the development of hydatid cyst inside. The results showed that the rate of development inside the mice was clear in the first and the second groups (4°C and 25°C), however, in the other 2 groups (37°C and 45°C), no sign of development of the cyst was observed, with the presence of few number of hooks compared to the control group, which showed significant difference in the development of hydatid cyst.

The Salvadora persica(***)*** stick,usually known as miswak,is still being em-ployed as an oral hygiene agent for plaque and gingivitis *** study aims to assess the antibacterial,antibiofilm,antioxidant,and phytochemical profile of *** *** ***-sica was purchased from a local market,grinded and extracted with petroleum *** disk dif-fusion,microdilution,and micro-plate assays were performed to evaluate the antibacterial and an-tibiofilm activities of the prepared extract at different concentrations against𝛽-lactam resistance Streptococcus *** radical scavenging 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl(DPPH)and stable radical cationic chromophore,2,2-azinobis-(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonate)(ABTS)methods were used to determine their antioxidant *** and spectrometric analyses were performed using gas chromatography-mass(GC-MS)*** minimum inhibitory concentration(MIC)of *** extract against𝛽-lactam resistance Streptococcus species ranged from 6.25 to 12.5 mg/*** maximum suppression of biofilm formation by *** extract was observed at MIC with a percentage of 68.66%,against Streptococcus *** *** ex-tract exhibited antioxidant activity with IC 50 of 20μg/mL and 35μg/mL from DPPH and ABTS,*** phytochemical characterization showed the presence of 22 compounds with ma-jor compounds;benzyl isothiocyanate(36.21%)and n-hexadecanoic acid(27.62%).The *** extract exhibited antibacterial activity against𝛽-lactam resistant Streptococcus species,showing a promising natural alternative that could be a treatment option.

This study aimed at using nine ecological parameters in evaluating the quality of the Tigris River for public usage, by choosing five sampling sites along the river in Baghdad area. These parameters included temperature, pH, the saturated ratio by dissolved oxygen (%sat), biological oxygen demand (BOD5), nitrate (NO3?1), phosphate (PO4?3), fecal coliform (FC) turbidity and total dissolved solids (TDS), and these parameters were used for calculating overall water quality index in the Tigris River at study area. The results showed high values of turbidity and TDS, as well as high count of FC in all study stations, while other studied parameters were within permissible limit defined by world health organization and Iraqi criteria. The results of the overall water quality index indicated that the Tigris River was in class medium, therefore the Tigris River water in study area is relatively not safe for direct domestic use in all seasons.
