Cancer is one of the deadliest diseases in developing countries. In recent years, natural plant-based compounds have been used in the search for drugs to combat numerous diseases, including cancer. In this study, we evaluate the cytotoxic properties of paanfo tiben 1 and paanfo tiben 2, two traditional herbal formulations from Burkina Faso used in the treatment of cancer in Burkina Faso. To this end, the recipes were infused and freeze-dried. The dry extracts obtained were used to determine total phenolics and flavonoids content, assess antioxidant activity using the DPPH, ABTS and FRAP methods, evaluate anti-inflammatory properties by inhibiting 15-LOX, COX 1 and 2, and assess cytotoxic activity on Hela cervical cancer and HePG2 liver cancer cell lines using the MTT test. The paanfo tiben 1 recipe showed the highest levels of total phenolics and flavonoids, as well as the best antioxidant activities, with IC50 values of 21.020 ± 0.6 µg/ml and 22.94 ± 0.57 µg/ml for DPPH and ABTS, and 165.15 mM EAA/mg dry extract for FRAP. It also exhibited the best cytotoxic activity with IC50 values of 112.02 ± 0.025 µg/ml on Hela cells and 80.67 ± 6.08 µg/ml on HepG2 cells. On the other hand, paanfo tiben 2 exhibited the best anti-inflammatory activities through inhibition of 15-LOX and COX 1, with inhibition percentages at 100 µg/ml of 32.523% and 24.717 % respectively. These results could justify the traditional use of these two recipes by traditional health practitioners in the treatment of cancer sufferers in Burkina Faso.

Coal is a solid combustible mineral,and coal-bearing strata have important hydrocarbon generation potential and contribute to more than 12%of the global hydrocarbon ***,the deposition and hydrocarbon evolution process of ancient coal-bearing strata is characterized by multiple geological times,leading to obvious distinctions in their hydrocarbon generation potential,geological processes,and production,which affect the evaluation and exploration of hydrocarbon resources derived from coaly source rocks *** study aimed to identify the differences on oil-generated parent macerals and the production of oil generated from different coaly source rocks and through different oil generation *** with the analysis of previous tectonic burial history and hydrocarbon generation history,high-temperature and high-pressure thermal simulation experiments,organic geochemistry,and organic petrology were performed on the Carboniferous-Permian(C-P)coaly source rocks in the Huanghua Depression,Bohai bay *** oil-generated parent macerals of coal's secondary oil generation process(SOGP)were mainly hydrogen-rich collotelinite,collodetrinite,sporinite,and cutinite,while the oil-generated parent macerals of tertiary oil generation process(TOGP)were the remaining small amount of hydrogen-rich collotelinite,sporinite,and cutinite,as well as dispersed soluble organic matter and unexhausted residual *** with coal,the oil-generated parent macerals of coaly shale SOGP were mostly sporinite and *** part of hydrogen-poor vitrinite,lacking hydrocarbon-rich macerals,and macerals of the TOGP,in addition to some remaining cutinite and a small amount of crude oil and bitumen from SOGP contributed to the oil *** results indicated that the changes in oil yield had a good junction between SOGP and TOGP,both coal and coaly shale had higher SOGP aborted oil yield than TOGP starting yield,and coaly shale TOGP peak oil yield was low

Nasopharyngeal liposarcoma is an extremely rare clinical entity. Less than ten cases have been reported in the literature. It mainly occurs in humans. The non-specificity of the clinical and radiological signs explains the difficulty of the diagnosis confirmed by anatomopathological and immunohistochemical examinations. Its pathogenesis remains obscure and often correlates with genetic abnormalities. Pleomorphic liposarcoma is its rarest subtype, remarkable for its aggressiveness and rapidity of growth. Complete surgical excision remains the treatment of choice. We report a case of liposarcoma whose diagnosis was made during histological examination coupled with immunohistochemistry. .

Introduction: Cervical cancer is a public health concern and is mainly caused by Human papillomaviruses (HPV). In many parts of the world, studies are being carried out to understand the different genotypes to better tackle this issue. We conducted a study to determine the prevalence of HPV genotypes in women with chronic hepatitis B or C infection, co-infected or not with HIV, treated at the Hôpital Saint Camille in Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso). Methods: This study was conducted from April to July 2023, including 100 women in gastroenterology at Hôpital Saint Camille. A questionnaire on their socio-demographic and life style was administrated;and endocervical samples were collected using sterile swabs and then sent to Centre of Biomolecular Research Pietro Annigoni (CERBA). HPV molecular detection and genotyping were performed by PCR and hybridization using the HPV Direct Flow Chips kit. Data were analysis using chi square test or Fischer’s exact test with a significance threshold for p Results: The prevalence of HPV infection was 28% (28/100) on the sample of women tested. The most frequent genotypes were HPV 52 (8.33%), followed by HPV 18 and 68 (6.25% each) for high-risk HPVs, and HPV 6, 44/55 and 62/81 (8.33% each) for low-risk HPVs. Conclusion: This study, the first of its kind in Burkina Faso on this group of the population, reveals that the most frequent genotypes found in this study are not included in the vaccine available in Burkina Faso (Gardasil®4).

In the 70’s, we classified for the first time the blocks at the atrial level into interatrial blocks (IAB), partial and advanced, and other types of atrial blocks including the concept of atrial aberrancy, and atrial dissociation. The concept of IAB, the most frequent and relevant blocks at the atrial level mean that exist a delayed conduction between the right and left atrium (RA and la). We also divided them using the same concept as at ventricular, sinoatrial, and atrioventricular (AV) level into 1~(st) degree or partial (P-IAB), 3~(rd) degree or advanced (A-IAB), and 2~(nd) degree or intermittent. The location of atrial fibrosis, that in the majority of cases is the responsible of delay of conduction involves much more part of the atria that just the isolated Bachmann bundle.

Objective: The aim of this study was to characterize the polymorphisms of the DC-SIGN (-336 A/G, rs4804803) gene and their association with the immunopathogenicity of dengue fever in Burkina Faso. Methods: A total of three hundred forty-one subjects, patients of all ages have been included in the study: 208 persons presenting clinical signs of dengue fever which were confirmed by diagnostic and 133 Healthy Controls. Genotyping for the CD209 variant (-336 A/G, rs4804803) was carried out using TaqMan SNP Genotyping Assays. Haplotype frequencies were inferred and compared between the study groups. Results: The percentage of men was 61.88% (211/341) and 38.12% (130/341) for women. The highest frequency of dengue fever (77.42%) was noted in patients with age between 20 to 40 years. Around 1.52% of the study population was positive for HIV, 40.55% were carriers of HBV and 3.83% of HCV. Genotype distribution of the CD209 variant (-336 A/G, rs4804803) was in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium in both patients and controls. The frequency of allele A was higher than allele G;however, statistical analyses showed that there is no significant difference in genotypes GG, AG and AA in patients and controls. Conclusion: This related no significant association with dengue for the variant of ?336 A/G in the DC-SIGN gene in an Ouagadougou population. However, our results offered the SNP frequencies in a West African population, which might be useful for the study of ethnic groups.

This work describes the microwave design of the transmission line housed in the in-port-plug region of the ITER plasma position reflectometer(PPR).The design of the components of the inport-plug reflectometers(located in equatorial port-plug 10(EPP10) and in upper-port-plug 01(UPP01)) is *** a 3 D ray tracing code, the spatial position and optimum orientation angles of each set of emission and detection antennas were determined.A feasible path was then created from the obtained antenna positions and orientations to the primary vacuum *** tall waveguides were chosen to reduce ohmic *** to space constraints in the ITER crowded environment, bends in oversized waveguides were unavoidable, and thus mode conversion was *** keep mode conversion losses at bay, hyperbolic secant curvature bends had to be used whenever ***, E-plane bends in tall waveguides proved to be especially critical, making it necessary to employ other approaches when higher bending angles were *** conversion results were obtained by evaluating the mode coupling *** losses have also been computed and their results compared with commercial simulators, obtaining a perfect agreement.

基于化学计量特征和不同形态碳的稳定同位素组成,探讨了渤海湾西岸具有不同闸坝控制状态和土地利用方式的两条入海河流(独流减河和捷地减河)水体中有机碳(OC)来源的时空变化及其影响因素。分析结果显示独流减河和捷地减河水体中溶解有机碳同位素组成(δ^(13)C_(DOC))的变化范围分别为-29.0‰~-24.3‰和-28.4‰~-24.2‰,而颗粒有机碳同位素组成(δ^(13)C_(POC))的变化范围分别为-36.9‰~-22.0‰和-35.7‰~-20.6‰。自河流上游到近海处,除部分点源受人为因素影响的水体外,两条河流的δ^(13)C_(DOC)值和δ^(13)C_(POC)值均呈增大趋势,且夏季比初春季节偏正。计算结果显示两条河流的有机碳主要来源于浮游生物、水生维管束植物、土壤有机质和城市污水,其相对比例分别为49%~59%、7%~11%、13%~16%和17%~27%。研究表明,河流内部的新陈代谢过程(初级生产和有机质降解)和人为活动(流域土地利用方式和闸坝控制状态等)对弱水动力条件下的两条入海河流中OC的来源和转化具有重要影响,且具有季节差异,即河流初级生产的影响在夏季强于初春季节,人为活动的影响则在初春季节强于夏季。此外,在入海口闸坝影响下,独流减河下游水体中颗粒有机碳源于浮游生物的比例在夏季和初春季节比捷地减河下游分别高9%和16%,而夏季独流减河下游水体中溶解无机碳变化也主要受控于河流初级生产,显著不同于其上游及捷地减河(主要受控于河流有机质降解)。研究结果可为深入理解弱水动力条件下入海河流OC的来源及其影响因素提供科学依据。
