Non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NNRTI's) are a major component of the current therapy for AIDS. However, in recent years, significant resistance has been generated against the marketed NNRTI's (nevirapine, delavirdine and efavirenz) due to viral mutations. New NNRTI's are needed to overcome the increasing resistance. We have discovered a novel series of oxindoles that exhibit single digit nanomolar potency against WT HIV and drug-resistant mutants. The synthesis and structure activity relationship (SAR) of this novel series of NNRTI's will be discussed.

Because of their elasticity， light weight， little cost， and wide-area applications， besides that a notable increase in power conversion efficiency （PCE）， organic solar cells have recently caught the concern of numerous researchers. In the current project， we created a variety of organic small compounds as donor materials by using Gaussian 09. Our design approach entails swapping the core part， which is benzothiadiazole （BT）， based on a derivative of oxadiazole， as the terminals on both sides of the prototype compound （RM） with a variety of fragments to improve the electronic and optic characterization and performance for PCE in organic solar cells. Careful theoretical consideration under density-functional theory DFT and time-dependent density functional theory TD-DET at the B3LYP/6-31G（d，p） basis set was made to find the maximum absorption wavelengthλmax， the efficiency of light harvesting （LHE）， excitation energy (EX)， HOMO and LOMO levels， energy band gap (Eg)， dipole moment （ρ）， the DOS， ionization potential （LP）， electron affinity （EA）， fill factor （EF）， and open circuit voltage (Voc) of molecules RM and TSstudied in a methodical manner. Calculated values revealed that proposed compounds T1-T4 can be encouraging materials for manufacturing organic solar cells as a donor tiny compound with acceptor PC61BM to predict a rise in power conversion efficiency （PCE） owing to their possession of proper values for some optical and electronic features， like the lowest HOMO level， narrower band gaps， and a greater absorption wavelength compared with the reference model RM.

阐述了如何准确评价自密实混凝土的流变性能,屈服应力和塑性黏度。当前,混凝土的流变性能主要是通过流变仪测定。然而,由于不同的混凝土流变仪所测得的数据存在一定的差异,造成测试结果不完全可靠。这是由于自密实混凝土拌合物体系的不均匀性。为了对自密实混凝土流变性能进行可靠的评估,从均质黏性浆体和混凝土组成出发,通过微观力学方法对不均质混合体的塑性黏度进行了评估。另外,通过测定混凝土t_(500)和流体扩展度来评估屈服应力的大小,通过三维锥形流光滑粒子流体动力学方法评价流体扩展度。

Pyrethroid esters are widely used as insecticides worldwide. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the harmful effect of deltamethrin on the male reproductive system through the assessment of reproductive hormones, inflammatorymarkers, and testicular function. To achieve our aim, eighty male 7-9-week-old, Wistar rats were taken, weighed, and divided into four experimental groups. The first group was kept as a control group, and the other three groups were given deltamethrin orally at different concentrations (0.87, 8.7, and 17.4 mg/kg body weight) for nine weeks. The resultsindicated that deltamethrin administration associated with a significant decrease in reproductive hormones, especially FSH, LH, and significant elevation in the interleukin 2 (IL2), interleukin 6 (IL6), histamine, and cortisol levels. Also, thesignificance of inhibition of sperm motility and viability, decreased testis weights, sperm count, and fructose in semen were noted. These findings clarify the harmful effect of deltamethrin on the male reproductive system by producing a significant alteration in reproductive hormones, inflammatory markers as well as testicular function.

Development of Solar Ponds Optimization Model: Arab Potash Solar System—A Case Study

A steady state optimization model used to define the optimum salt to carnallite ponds area ratio in a solar pond system was developed. The model is based on material balance analysis using a cascade of complete-mix reactors model (cascade of CFSTR, continuous-flow stirred-tank reactor) prepared for the solar pond system. The basic material balance model shall use the basic phase chemistry relations and physical parameters of the solar pond system under optimization. The Arab Potash solar pond system data was used to examine the developed model where the Arab potash solar system was used as a Case Study. In the course of the model development, calibration and validation of the model is performed. Using this steady state model the optimum salt pond to carnallite pond area ratio is deduced. This optimum ratio is defined as the optimum area ratio that maximizes the carnallite production per the total pond system area. This term, which could be expressed as tons per km2, presents the best pond system efficiency. The results show that a 1.88 ratio of salt to carnallite ponds area is the optimum ratio.

Objective:To monitor the levels of aspartate transaminase (AST) and alanine transaminase (ALT) enzymes and testosterone hormone in months and seasons of ***: In this experiment, 20 (2.0-3.5 years old) Iraqi Awassi rams were used which were housed in semi opened shade. Blood samples (2-3 mL) were collected once a week for over period 12 mo. AST and ALT activities were measured by using colorimetric method, and testesterone analysis was performed with an automatic ***: The activities of both AST and ALT enzymes were increased significantly (P<0.05) during summer, on monthly basis, June showed the significantly highest value (P<0.05). The present study revealed that testosterone in autumn and summer was recorded significantly highest (P<0.05) in comparison with other seasons and on monthly basis the significant (P<0.05) highest level of testosterone was found between September and August ***: AST and ALT enzymes are the highest during summer, and on monthly basis they are the highest in June, while testosterone level is recorded highest in autumn season, and on monthly basis November shows the highest value.

Tropical cyclone Phet is the second strongest tropical cyclone ever recorded in the Arabian Sea. Phet made landfall in the northeast mountainous area of Oman in early morning on 4 June in 2010, causing a breaking record rainfall in this arid region of 488 mm/48 h. The cyclone heavy rainfall triggered flash floods causing enormous losses in lives and infrastructure in northeast Oman. The state of the art Advanced Research WRF model is used to study the atmospheric circulation and to reproduce the heavy rainfall over Oman. Three one-way nested domains with 32 vertical layers with terrain following sigma coordinate are used to setup eight numerical experiments aiming to investigate the effect of initialization time, horizontal grid resolution and terrain elevations on reproducing the cyclone track, intensity and heavy rainfall. Simulation results show negligible effect of model initialization time on cyclone track, intensity and rainfall. In contrast, the orographic effect played a substantial role in rainfall simulation over northeast Oman. The heavy rainfall was a combination of the cyclone circulation effect and the orographic lifting in the mountains. The northeasterly cyclone moist-warm wind was lifted in the Omani mountains releasing its potential energy and enhancing further thermal convection. The numerical experiment with the highest terrain elevation (RUN3.3-C) resulted in overestimation of observed rainfall due to the enhanced topographic lifting of the saturated cyclone wind. Experiment with similar horizontal grid resolution but smoother terrain elevation (RUN3.3-TER) resulted in much less rainfall amount comparable to the observed values. The increased precipitation in RUN3.3-C is due to the increase in the rain- water and cloud water and graupel of the explicit moisture scheme.

Objective:To evaluate the cryoprotective effect of butylated hydroxytoluene on buck frozen ***:Semen was collected from Boer(n=6)and Zaraibi(n=6)bucks by electroejaculator for 5 *** aliquots were diluted at 38℃in Tris-buffer with egg yolk 15.0%(vol/vol)(Tris-egg yolk extender)or soya lecithin 2.5%(weight/vol)(Tris-soya lecithin extender)supplemented with butylated hydroxytoluene at 0.0(as the control),0.5,1.0,2.0 and 4.0 ***-thawing motility(at 400×magnification),plasma(hypo-osmotic swelling test),acrosome(Trypan blue/Giemsa dual staining)membranes,DNA(comet assay),and lipid peroxidation(by malondialdehyde concentration)were ***:Spermatozoa motility was enhanced by butylated hydroxytoluene in Tris-soya lecithin extender at 0.5 mM in the two breeds,and in Tris-egg yolk extender at 1.0 mM in Boer and at 2.0 mM in Zaraibi bucks for up to 3 h *** and acrosome membranes and DNA integrity of the two breeds were maximally high with butylated hydroxytoluene at 1.0-2.0 mM in Tris-egg yolk extender and at 0.5-1.0 mM in Tris-soya lecithin *** peroxidation was minimal with butylated hydroxytoluene at 1.0-2.0 mM in Tris-egg yolk and soya lecithin extenders in the two *** hydroxytoluene at 4.0 mM deteriorated spermatozoa motility,and plasma and acrosome ***:The consequence of butylated hydroxytoluene on buck frozen-thawed spermatozoa varies with the levels of supplementation,buck breed,and phospholipid source in the *** parameters of Boer buck are better in their response to butylated hydroxytoluene than Zaraibi *** hydroxytoluene at 1.0 and 2.0 mM in Tris-egg yolk extender,and at 0.5 mM in Tris-soya lecithin extender represents the best concentrations and profitably improves the semen quality of buck semen.
