Treating acute low back pain with acupuncture:A randomized controlled study protocol to compare the effectiveness between distal and local acupoints

Objective To compare the efficacy of using“distal acupoints only”vs.“local acupoints mainly combined with distal acupoints”in cases of acute low back pain(AlBP).Methods A total of 102 eligible patients aged 18–65 years with AlBP lasting less than 6 weeks will be randomized in a 1:1 ratio to the distal acupoints only group(DPOG)and the local acupoints mainly combined with the distal acupoints group(lPMG).During a 4-week treatment period,patients in the DPOG will receive acupuncture at distal acupoints only(Houxi[SI 3]and Yaotongxue[EX-UE 7])twice a week,while those in the lPMG group will receive acupuncture at local acupoints(mainly Shenshu[Bl 23]and Dachangshu[Bl 25])combined with distal points(Weizhong[Bl 40]).The patients in both groups will be evaluated at every session of treatment,and the follow-up will be performed for 3 *** primary outcome measure will be the change in AlBP intensity,assessed using visual analogue scale scores before and after *** secondary outcome measure will be the evaluation of functional disability using the Oswestry Disability *** This study compares the DPOG and lPMG to explore the feasibility of the DPOG in the treatment of AlBP.

目的病人针灸治疗时,漏针可能造成严重后果。为增强针灸安全性,本研究将开发一个基于深度学习的自动云端数针系统。方法本研究利用拍有针灸针的手机图片为曾预先训练的定向目标检测模型(Oriented R-CNN)进行转移学习,以开发一种能够自动计算图片中针灸针数量的目标检测算法。我们首先拍摄了一个包含590张图片的训练集以及一个包含1025张图片的验证集。随后在带有NVIDIA Tesla T4图形处理器(GPU)的Google Colab环境中部署了MMRotate工具箱为模型进行训练。我们将训练的模型与Telegram bot手机小程序界面集成,并评估模型的准确率、精确率和召回率。本小程序中云端数针系统的速度则以端到端处理时间计算。结果在每张图片20根针的验证集情景中,我们的定向检测模型在准确率、精确率和召回率上分别达到96.49%、99.98%和99.84%,平均端到端处理时间为1.535秒。结论这项云服务系统在速度、准确性和可靠性上的提升展示了深度学习物体检测技术改进针灸实践的潜力。

Defect production and atomic mixing by displacement cascades in Ni_3Al

Molecular dynamics simulations have been employed to investigate displacement cascades in Ni3Al, with energy Ep in the range from 0.15 to 10 keV. The efficiency of production of frenkel pairs declines with the increasing cascade energy in a fashion similar to that found recently for pure metals. The antisite defects are much more numerous than the frenkel pairs, and their production efficiency increases with the increasing cascade energy. A new empirical relationship between the defect number and damage energy is proposed, namely Ndefect = AEpm. A high proportion of the atomic mixing occurs in the ballistic phase and is larger for the Ni atoms, implying that the phenomenon is not purely a liquid-like process.

Stomach pain in Chinese medicine（CM） is a very common disorder in clinical practice and it has been listed as one of the pilot three conditions in Hong Kong to develop evidence-based CM clinical practice guidelines（CM CPGs）. The aim of this stomach Pain CPG is to summarize the treatment methods of stomach pain with CM and evaluate reasonably, then to guide local licensed CM practitioners and provide beneficial reference for social medical decision makers and patients. In this manuscript, we defined stomach pain in CM and the category of chronic gastritis in Western medicine. The clinical manifestation, CM pattern classification, and CM intervention including herbal medicine treatment based on pattern differentiation, symptomatic treatment, acupuncture treatment, regulation and nursing were illustrated.

Appraisal of Clinical Practice Guidelines for Ischemic Stroke Management in Chinese Medicine with Appraisal of Guidelines for Research and Evaluation Instrument:A Systematic Review

Objective： To systematically review the clinical practice guidelines （CPGs） for ischemic stroke in Chinese medicine （CM） with the Appraisal of Guidelines for Research and Evaluation （AGREE II） instrument. Methods： CM CPGs for ischemic stroke were searched in 5 online databases and hand-searches in CPG- related handbooks published from January 1990 to December 2012. The CPGs were categorized into evidence based （EB） guideline, consensus based with no explicit consideration of evidence based （CB-EB） guideline and consensus based （CB） guideline according to the development method. Three reviewers independently appraised the CPGs based on AGREE II instrument, and compared the CPGs＇ recommendations on CM pattern classification and treatment. Results： five CM CPGs for ischemic stroke were identified and included. Among them, one CPG was EB guideline, two were CB guidelines and two were CB-EB guidelines. The quality score of the EB guideline was higher than those of the CB-EB and CB guidelines. five CM patterns in the CPGs were recommended in the EB CPG. The comprehensive protocol of integrative Chinese and Western medicine recommended in the EB CPG was mostly recommended for ischemic stroke in the CPGs. The recommendations varied based on the CM patterns. Conclusion： The quality of EB CPG was higher than those of CB and CB-EB CPGs in CM for ischemic stroke and integrative approaches were included in CPGs as major interventions.

Background:Olfactory dysfunction(OD)is a common symptom of Corona Virus Disease 2019(COVID-19).It is defined as the reduced or distorted ability to smell during sniffing(orthonasal olfaction)and represents one of the early symptoms in the clinical course of COVID-19 infection.A large online questionnaire-based survey has shown that some post-COVID-19 patients had no improvement 1 month after discharge from the ***:To explore the efficacy of acupuncture for OD in COVID-19 infected patients and to determine whether acupuncture could have benefits over sham acupuncture for OD in post-COVID-19 ***:This is a single-blind,randomized controlled,cross-over *** plan to recruit 40 post-COVID-19 patients with smell loss or smell distortions lasting for more than 1 *** patients will be randomly allocated to the intervention group(real acupuncture)or the control group(sham acupuncture)at a 1:1 *** patient will receive 8 sessions of treatment over 4 weeks(Cycle 1)and a 2-week *** the follow-up,the control group will be subjected to real acupuncture for another 4 weeks(Cycle 2),and the real acupuncture group will undergo the 4-week sham *** primary outcomes will be the score changes on the questionnaire of olfactory functioning and olfaction-related quality of life at week 6,8,12,and 14 from the *** secondary outcomes will be the changes in the olfactory test score at week 6 and 12 from the baseline measured by using the Traditional Chinese version of the University of Pennsylvania Smell Identification Test(UPSIT-TC).Discussion:The results of this trial will help to determine the effectiveness of acupuncture for OD in post-COVID-19 *** may provide a new treatment option for patients.

Background Stroke is a major cause of death or long-term disability *** patients with stroke receive integrative therapy consisting of Western medicine(WM)and routine rehabilitation in conjunction with Chinese medicine(CM),such as acupuncture and Chinese herbal ***,there is no available evidence on the effectiveness of the combined use of WM and CM interventions in stroke *** The purpose of this meta-analysis is to evaluate the results of all individual studies to assess the combined use of CM and WM in stroke rehabilitation compared with WM *** The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis guidelines were ***,EMBASE,Cochrane and China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI)were *** included outcomes were dependency,motor function,depression and swallowing *** analysis was performed,and publication bias was assessed using funnel *** of review 58 studies and 6339 patients were included in the *** analysis revealed that combined therapy comprising both acupuncture and WM had a superior effect on improving dependency and swallowing function compared with standard WM therapy *** superiority of combined therapy comprising CM and WM in improving depression compared with standard WM therapy was also *** Our results indicate that the combined use of CM and WM could be more efficacious in stroke rehabilitation compared with the use of WM therapy ***,most studies were short in duration(2 to 4 weeks)and prone to different types of biases,which prevents making any conclusion regarding the long-term effects and raises concerns regarding true efficacy in context of high likelihood of Hawthorn ***,more randomised controlled trials with more rigorous design and longer duration of treatment and follow-up need to be conducted to compare WM alone versus WM and CM combined.

We propose a new consistency test for theΛCDM cosmology using baryonic acoustic oscillations(BAO)and redshift space distortion(RSD)measurements from galaxy redshift ***,we determine the peak position of fσ8(z)in redshift z offered by an RSD measurement,and compare it to the one predicted by the BAO observables assuming a flatΛCDM *** demonstrate this new test using the simulated data for the DESI galaxy survey,and argue that this test complements those using the background observables alone,and is less subject to systematics in the RSD analysis,compared to traditional methods using values of fσ8(z)directly.
