Nitrogen-doped carbon-coated transition-metal sulfides(TMS@NCs)have been considered as efficient anodes for sodium-ion ***,the uncontrollable morphology and weak core-shell binding forces significantly limit the sodium storage performance and ***,based on the reversible ring-opening reaction of the epoxy group of the tertiary amino group-rich epoxide cationic polyacrylamide(ECP)at the beginning of hydrothermal process(acidic environment)and the irreversible ring-opening(cross-linking reactions)at the late hydrothermal period(alkaline environment),47 nm-sized ZnS@NCs were prepared via a one-pot hydrothermal *** this process,the covalent bonds formed between the ZnS core and elastic carbon shell significantly improved the mechanical and chemical stabilities of ZnS@*** from the nanosize,fast ion/electron transfer,and high stability,ZnS@NC exhibited a high reversible capacity of 421.9 mAh g^(−1) at a current density of 0.1 A g^(−1) after 1000 cycles and a superior rate capability of 273.8 mAh g^(−1) at a current density of 5 A g^(−1).Moreover,via this universal synthesis strategy,a series of TMS@NCs,such as MoS_(2)@NC,NiS@NC,and CuS@NC were developed with excellent capacity and cyclability.

A heterostructured electrocatalyst of small NiSe_(2) nanoparticles confined NiMoN nanorods(NiSe_(2)-NPs/NiMoN-NRs)is prepared to accelerate both the hydrogen evolution reaction(hER)and oxygen evolution reaction(OER)in a same alkaline *** synergistic effects caused by the combination of merits derived from NiSe_(2) and NiMoN phases trigger an optimum electronic structure with high density of state at near Fermi level and enhance adsorption free energy,thereby resulting in excellent catalytic activities and strengthened working *** catalyst requires a low overpotential of 58 mV for hER and 241 mV for OER to reach 10 mA cm^(−2) in 1.0 M KOh electrolyte.A twoelectrode electrolyzer based on the developed catalyst shows outstanding cell voltage of 1.51 and 1.46 V to reach 10 mA cm^(−2) in 1.0 M and 30 wt%KOh solution at 25℃ for overall water splitting,*** addition,the solardriven water splitting process delivers a high solar-to-h_(2) conversion efficiency of∼18.4%,impressively unveiling that the developed bifunctional catalyst is highly potential for overall water splitting to produce green hydrogen fuel.

In this study,mechanical characteristics of tensile strength ratio(TSR)were evaluated by comparing it to other methods in evaluating moisture sensitivity of asphalt *** types of asphalt mixtures with and without anti-stripping additives were prepared and tested in the *** compressive strength(UCS)and indirect tensile(IDT)testing were conducted to determine the mixture’s tensile strength ratio and cohesion ratio(CR).Determining TSR alone was found to be insufficient when evaluating moisture *** is a need to consider both TSR and wet IDT strength to properly evaluate moisture behavior of asphalt ***,it was found that the cohesion and the IDT strength have a good relation in which the minimum condition of the slope,must be ***,it was observed thatβvalues change depending on material type and ***,there is a need to evaluate theseβvalues for varying material and testing *** addition,it was found that the TSR and CR results are highly correlated with an average difference of 1.5%.Furthermore,other tests such as Marshall stability and dynamic immersion were also *** was found that Marshall stability ratio(MSR)and Marshall stability to flow ratio(MSFR)values are less sensitive to moisture effect when measuring moisture resistance compared to TSR ***,the 48 h testing result of the dynamic immersion test showed better correlation with TSR values.

Interactions between materials and electromagnetic irradiations in the microwave frequency are critical for many civil and military applications, such as radar detection, communications, information processing and transport et al. Dipole rotations or magnetic domain resonance are the mainly traditional mechanisms for microwave absorption. The recent finding of the excellent microwave absorption from hydrogenated TiO2 nanoparticles provides us an alternative approach for achieving such absorption, by manipulating the structural defects inside nanoparticles through hydrogenation. In this study, we demonstrate that the microwave absorption can be not only achieved but fine-tuned with TiO2 nanoparticles thermally treated in a Mg/h2 environment. Their position and efficiency can be effectively controlled by the treating temperature. Specifically, the microwave absorption position shifts to the lower frequency region as the treating temperature increases, and there seems to exist an optimal treating temperature to obtain the maximum efficiency, as the absorbing efficiency first increases, and then decreases, with the increase in treatment temperature. Therefore, this study enriches our knowledge and understanding microwave absorption from TiO2-based nanomaterials which may inspire new ideas on other systems to enhance their performance as well.

This study aims at evidencing the effects of lime treatment on the microstructure and hydraulic conductivityof a compacted expansive clay, with emphasis put on the effect of lime hydration and *** this purpose, evolutions of hydraulic conductivity were investigated for both lime-treatedand untreated soil specimens over 7 d after full saturation of the specimens and their microstructureswere observed at the end. Note that for the treated specimen, dry clay powder was mixed with quicklimeprior to compaction in order to study the effect of lime hydration. It is observed that lime hydration andmodification did not affect the intra-aggregate pores but increased the inter-aggregates pores size. Thisincrease gave rise to an increase of hydraulic conductivity. More precisely, the hydraulic conductivity oflime-treated specimen increased progressively during the first 3 d of modification phase and stabilisedduring the next 4 d which correspond to a short period prior to the stabilisation phase. The microstructureobservation showed that stabilisation reactions took place after 7 d. Under the effect of stabilisation,a decreasing hydraulic conductivity can be expected in longer time due to the formation ofcementitious compounds. 2014 Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Two-photon excitedfluorescence(TPEF)spectroscopy and imaging were used to investigate the effects of gamma-irradiation on neural stem and precursor cells(NSPCs).While the observed signal from reduced nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide(NADh)was localized to the mitochondria,the signal typically associated with oxidizedflavoproteins(Fp)was distributed diffusely throughout the *** measured TPEF emission and excitation spectra were similar to the established spectra of NAD(P)h and *** intensity was markedly increased by addition of the electron transport chain(ETC)modulator menadione to the medium,along with a concomitant decrease in the NAD(P)h ***-dimensional(3D)neurospheres were imaged to obtain the cellular metabolic index(CMI),calculated as the ratio of Fp to NAD(P)hfluorescence *** effects were found to differ between low-dose(50 cGy)and high-dose(50 cGy)***-dose irradiation caused a marked drop in CMI values accompanied by increased cellular *** higher doses,both NAD(P)h and Fp signals increased,leading to an overall elevation in CMI *** underscore the complex relationship between radiation dose,metabolic state,and proliferation status in NSPCs and highlight the ability of TPEF spectroscopy and imaging to characterize metabolism in 3D spheroids.

研究了利用混凝土产品吸收二氧化碳的可行性。混凝土的3个基本组分:水泥、细沙和骨料,都可被用来作为二氧化碳吸附物以实现储留最大化,另外,可利用高钙钢渣等工业废料生产混凝土骨料。研究发现波特兰水泥2h碳化后吸收14%二氧化碳,碳化后的材料的强度与7d传统养护的强度相当。钢包钢渣细粉能吸收4%～12%二氧化碳,能用来替代河沙。吹氧高炉钢渣对二氧化碳吸收的能力超过12%。由此制成的粗骨料其强度可与石灰岩相比。如果混凝土砌块由这3组分组成,一块20cm×20cm×20cm的标准砌块能吸收1.39kg二氧化碳。二氧化碳在混凝土中的储留是一项经济可行、直接减排的有效技术。

The use of insect meal in aquafeed formulations has recently gained *** knowledge about the inclusion levels for pikeperch(Sander lucioperca),a promising candidate for intensive aquaculture in Europe remains,however,*** the present study,4 isoproteic(45%dry matter)and isoenergetic(21 MJ/kg)diets were formulated,including a control diet(h0)containing 30%fishmeal(FM)on an as-fed basis and the other 3 diets in which FM protein was replaced by defatted black soldier fly(hemetia illucens)meal(hIM)at 25%,50%,and 100%(diet abbreviation h9,h18 and h36,corresponding to an inclusion level of 9%,18%and 36%,respectively).The feeding trial was performed in triplicate groups of 50 juvenile pikeperch(mean weight,68.7 g)fed with experimental diets for 84 d during which the growth performance,nutrient digestibility,fillet quality and economic and environmental sustainability of rearing pikeperch were *** findings indicated that pikeperch in h0,h9,and h18 groups displayed better results regarding growth performance indices,except for survival rate where no significant difference among groups was recorded(P?0.642).A significantly lower organ-somatic index,including hepatosomatic,viscerosomatic and perivisceral fat index,was found in fish in h18 groups than other groups(PhIM affected the digestibility of the nutrients and resulted in an almost linear reduction in the apparent digestibility coefficient of dry matter and *** the fillet quality,dietary hIM negatively affected the protein and ash contents of the fish fillets,while the crude fat remained *** hIM did not significantly modify total saturated,monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids in the fillets of fed pikeperch(P>0.05)but did reduce total n-3 fatty acids(P?0.001)and increased total n-6(PhIM reduced the environmental impacts associated with fish in-to-fish out ratio but entailed heavy burdens on e

During daylight, plants produce excess photo- synthates, including sucrose, which is temporarily stored in the vacuole. At night, plants remobilize sucrose to sustain metabolism and growth. Based on homology to other sucrose transporter （SUT） proteins, we hypothesized the maize （Zea mays） SUCROSE tranSPORTER2 （ZmSUT2） protein functions as a sucrose/h^＋ symporter on the vacuolar membrane to export transiently stored sucrose. To understand the biological role of ZmSut2, we examined its spatial and temporal gene expression, determined the protein subcellular localization, and characterized loss-of- function mutations. ZmSut2 mRNA was ubiquitously expressed and exhibited diurnal cycling in transcript abundance. Expressing a translational fusion of ZmSUT2 fused to a red fluorescent protein in maize mesophyll cell protoplasts revealed that the protein localized to the tonoplast. Under field conditions, zmsut2 mutant plants grew slower, possessed smaller tassels and ears, and produced fewer kernels when compared to wild-type siblings, zmsut2 mutants also accumulated two-fold more sucrose, glucose, and fructose as well as starch in source leaves compared to wild type. These findings suggest （i） ZmSUT2 functions to remobilize sucrose out of the vacuole for subsequent use in growing tissues; and （ii） its function provides an important contribution to maize development and agronomic yield.
