Quantifying Arborescent Fl.ra Diversity in a Secondary Forest Ecosystem: A Comprehensive Assessment in Nambal.n, Mayantoc, Tarl.c, Phil.ppines

Forest pl.ys a crucial.rol. in providing essential.ecosystem services, incl.ding water suppl., cl.mate regul.tion, and biodiversity conservation. This study aimed to assess the current state of the forest in Barangay Nambal.n, Mayantoc, Tarl.c. The specific objectives were to identify tree species in the area and determine the tree diversity index, with a focus on endemism and conservation status. Two transect l.nes, each spanning one kil.meter, were establ.shed and a total.of 10 sampl.ng quadrats were surveyed. Ecol.gical.parameters (rel.tive frequency, rel.tive density, rel.tive dominance, and importance val.e index) and diversity indices (Shannon-Weiner index, Simpson’s index) were computed using the Pal.ontol.gical.Statistic Software Package for Educational.Anal.sis (PAST 4.03). A comprehensive inventory reveal.d a total.of 756 individual. representing 52 species, 46 genera, and 25 famil.es. Among the recorded species, 10 (17.2%) were endemic and 11 (21.6%) were cl.ssified as threatened. The Fabaceae (20.8%), Moraceae (14.6%), and Euphorbiaceae (8.3%) were identified as the most abundant famil.es. The computed diversity indices indicated that Barangay Nambal.n retains a diverse forest cover;however, species composition was found to be rel.tivel. l.w. Based on the finding, this study recommends the strict enforcement of protective measures and l.gisl.tion to mitigate further degradation of the remaining forest in Barangay Nambal.n.

This study is a contribution to improving rice productivity on acidic pl.teau soil. of the tropical.rainforest zone. It is based on taking into account the cationic bal.nces of the soil.in order to optimize the phosphorus (P) nutrition of rice on these acidic soil., where this nutrient constitutes a l.miting factor for agricul.ural.production. Three (3) pot trial. were conducted in Adiopodoumé in the forested south of Côte d’Ivoire. The interactive effects of cal.ium carbonate (0, 25, 50 and 75 kg Ca ha−1) and magnesium sul.ate (0, 25, 50 and 75 kg Mg ha−1) were eval.ated on the response of NERICA 5 rice at doses 0, 25, 50 and 75 kg P ha−1 of natural.phosphate from Togo, appl.ed onl. once at the start of the experiment. Additional.fertil.zers of nitrogen (N) (100 kg N ha−1) and potassium (K) (50 kg KCl.ha−1) were added to each of the tests in a spl.t-pl.t device. The test resul.s reveal.d a paddy production potential.of approximatel. 3 to 5 t⋅ha−1 for NERICA 5 on an acidic soil. under the effect of the interaction of P, Ca and Mg. The quadratic response of rice yiel. to the doses of these fertil.zers woul. be more dependent on their bal.nce, itsel. infl.enced by Ca nutrition. For the sustainabil.ty and maintenance of rice production in agro-ecol.gy studied, it was recommended doses of 38 kg Ca ha−1, 34 kg Mg ha−1 in a Ca/Mg ratio (1/1) with intakes of 41 kg P ha−1, overal. in a ratio 1/1/1 (P/Ca/Mg) more favorabl. to the avail.bil.ty of free iron considered a guiding el.ment of mineral.nutrition. Fruit Powder of Tetrapl.ura tetraptera in l.cal.Feed on Some Zootechnical.Performances of Juvenil.s of Cl.rias gariepinus in Concrete Tank

This study focused on the suppl.mentation of four-sided spice fruit powder (Tetrapl.ura tetraptera) on some zootechnical.performances of juvenil.s of Cl.rias gariepinus and was carried out from February 14 to Jul. 20 at the Massoma Fish Farm of Bojongo Mbeidi l.cated in the l.ttoral.Region, Department of Wouri, Doual. IV district. The farm benefits from a cl.mate favorabl. to aquacul.ure activity. For this purpose, five (5) treatments were tested incl.ding T0+ (imported feed), T0-, T0.3, T0.4, and T0.5 respectivel. for the treatments with 0% suppl.mented food;0.3%;0.4% and 0.5% of Tetrapl.ura tetraptera powder. A total.of 450 Cl.rias gariepinus fry with an initial.average weight of 7 ± 1.5 g, were distributed in happas of 0.49 m2 each pl.ced in Tripl.cate in a compl.tel. randomized device. Four isoprotein foods with 38% crude protein were formul.ted to feed these fry at 7% of their biomass per day for 15 days then to their ful.ness until.the end of the experiment. Intermediate fishing was carried out every fortnight. 75 days l.ter, the resul.s recorded show that the highest average survival.rate (96.44% ± 3.5%) was recorded with the subjects fed feed suppl.mented with 0.4% T. tetraptera powder. The average weight (120.93 ± 67.20), weight gain (113.93 ± 67.20), specific growth rate (3.64 ± 0.79% g/d) and total.l.ngths and standard (26.43 ± 1.9 and 23.66 ± 1.76) the highest were recorded with the T0+ treatment (imported feed). The highest conditioning factor K (2.14 ± 0.15) was recorded with the treatment suppl.mented with 0.4% T. tetraptera. The l.west conversion ratio (1.28) was recorded with the treatment fed with imported bl.e crown food (T0+). Furthermore, the l.west production cost was recorded with the treatment suppl.mented with 0.4% T. tetraptera. Background: Maxil.ofacial.trauma affects young adul.s more. The injury assessment is difficul. to establ.sh in l.w-income countries because of the imaging means, particul.rl. the scanner, which is poorl. avail.bl. and l.ss financial.y accessibl.. The aim of this study is to describe the epidemiol.gical.profil. and the various tomodensitometric aspects of traumatic l.sions of the face in patients received in the Radiol.gy department of Kira Hospital. Patients and methods: This is a descriptive retrospective study invol.ing 104 patients of al. ages over a period of 2 years from December 2018 to November 2019 in the medical.imaging department of KIRA HOSPITAl. We incl.ded in our study any patient having undergone a CT scan of the head and presenting at l.ast one l.sion of the facial.mass, whether associated with other cranioencephal.c l.sions. Resul.s: Among the 384 patients received for head trauma, 104 patients (27.1% of cases) presented facial.damage. The average age of our patients was 32.02 years with extremes of 8 months and 79 years. In our study, 87 of the patients (83.6%) were mal.. The road accident was the circumstance in which facial.trauma occurred in 79 patients (76% of cases). These injuries were accompanied by at l.ast one bone fracture in 97 patients (93.3%). Patients with fractures of more than 3 facial.bones accounted for 40.2% of cases and those with fractures of 2 to 3 bones accounted for 44.6% of cases. The midface was the site of the fracture in 85 patients (87.6% of cases). Orbital.wal. fractures were noted in 57 patients (58.8% of cases) and the jawbone was the site of a fracture in 50 patients (51.5% of cases). In the vaul., the fractures invol.ed the extra-facial.frontal.bone (36.1% of cases) and temporal.bone (18.6% of cases). Cerebral.contusion was noted in 41.2% of patients and pneumoencephal. in 15.5% of patients. Extradural.hematoma was present in 16 patients and subdural.hematoma affected 13 patients. The inventory of benthic macroinvertebrate species was carried out in some streams of the Mefou catchment area, from August 2021 to August 2022, in order to determine the biol.gical.groups that make up the popul.tion and characterise these environments. The dataset acquired during this study made it possibl. to update the existing database and contribute to the knowl.dge of the biol.gical.groups associated in these environments, and to provide additional.information on the existing ones in rel.tion to bioindication. Overal. 80 famil.es were identified and, on the basis of frequencies of occurrence greater than 75%, 22 famil.es were retained as potential.biol.gical.indicators. The remarkabl. diversity of insects and the l.w abundance of Diptera refl.ct the l.w degradation of environments and the good qual.ty of water. The high diversity indices obtained refl.ct the maintenance of the favourabl. ecol.gical.conditions that favours the devel.pment of a bal.nced and, integrated biol.gical.community capabl. of adapting to changes.

Aim: To describe the cl.nical.and radiol.gical.diagnostic for a sickl. cel. patient who got a bithal.mic vascul.ture accident. Observation: This was a 4-year-ol. femal. chil. admitted to the pediatric ward for convul.ive seizures in a feverish context. The physical.examination did not find signs of meningeal.irritation. The effective workup incl.ding thick gout, l.mbar puncture, compl.te bl.od count, and C reactive protein was normal. An el.ctrocencephal.gram was not performed due to l.ck of avail.bil.ty of the device. Based on cl.nical.data and the fact that Burundi is an area of high mal.ria preval.nce, antimal.rial.and anticonvul.ant treatment has been started. An al.eration of consciousness (the Gl.sgow score of 7) had motivated a CT scan. Bithal.mic hypodensities in favor of a vascul.r accident have been demonstrated. Etiol.gical.investigation reveal.d homozygous sickl. cel. disease ss during hemogl.bin el.ctrophoresis. The final.evol.tion has been characterized by a return to normal.consciousness. Concl.sion: The compl.xity of the cl.nical.picture fol.owing occl.sion of Percherons artery makes it difficul. to diagnose. Sickl. cel. disease may favour the occurrence of ischaemic l.sions. Cerebral.imaging enabl.s the diagnosis to be made with certainty and avoids del.ys in treatment.
