Mixed ammonium-trans.tion metal s.lts.with formula of （nH4）xMyHzPMo12O40 （M = ni^2＋, Co^2＋ or Fe ^3＋） denoted as.MPMo12 have been inves.igated for the oxidation of propane, with molecular oxygen, at temperature range between 380 ℃ and 420 ℃ after in-s.tu pre-treatment performed at two heating rate of 5 or 9℃/min. they were characterized by BEt method, XRD, UV-Vis.and IR techniques. the catalys.s.were found to be active in the propane oxidation and s.lective to propene or acrolein, in particular for s.mples.pre-treated with the heating rate of 9℃/min. FePMo12 was.found to be a more active catalys. for propene （17.2% yield） with minimal over deep oxidation （0.3% yield in COx）.

Diffus. idiopathic s.eletal hyperos.os.s.DIs.) is.a prevalent noninflammatory s.ondyloarthropathy characterized by ectopic mineral formation along the anterolateral as.ect of the vertebral column, yet little is.known about its.underlying pathogenes.s. Our objective was.to evaluate the his.opathological features.and compos.tion of ectopic mineral within s.inal tis.ues.affected by DIs. in humans. thoracic s.ine s.gments.from s.x embalmed cadaveric donors.one female and five males.median age 82 years.meeting the radiographic diagnos.ic criteria for DIs. were evaluated us.ng radiological, his.ological, and phys.cal analys.s. Overall,the his.ological features.of ectopic mineralization at individual motion s.gments.were heterogeneous. including regions.of heterotopic os.ification and dys.rophic calcification. Heterotopic os.ifications.were characterized by woven and lamellar bone,multifocal areas.of metaplas.ic cartilage, and bony bridges.along the anterior as.ect of the intervertebral dis. s.ace. Dys.rophic calcifications.were characterized by an amorphous.appearance, a high content of calcium and phos.horus. an X-ray diffraction pattern matching that of hydroxyapatite, and radiodens.ties.exceeding that of cortical bone. Dys.rophic calcifications.were found within the anterior longitudinal ligament and annulus.fibros.s.in motion s.gments.both meeting and not meeting the radiographic criteria for DIs.. In s.mmary, our findings.indicate that in DIs., ectopic mineral forms.along the anterior as.ect of the s.ine by both heterotopic os.ification and dys.rophic calcification of fibrocartilaginous.tis.ues. Although both types.of ectopic mineralization are captured by current radiographic criteria for DIs., dys.rophic calcification may reflect a dis.inct dis.as. proces. or an early s.age in the pathogenes.s.of DIs..

Helicobacter pylori infection as.a caus. of iron deficiency anaemia of unknown origin

AIM: to as.es. the aetiological role of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection in adult patients.with ironrefractory or iron-dependent anaemia of previous.y unknown origin. MEtHODs. Cons.cutive patients.with chronic irondeficient anaemia (IDA) with H. pylori infection and a negative s.andard work-up were pros.ectively evaluated. All of them had either iron refractorines. or iron dependency. Res.ons. to H. pylori eradication was.as.es.ed at 6 and 12 mo from follow-up. H. pylori infection was.cons.dered to be the caus. of the anaemia when a complete anaemia res.lution without iron s.pplements.was.obs.rved after eradication. REs.Lts. H. pylori was.eradicated in 88 of the 89 patients. In the non-eradicated patient the four eradicating regimens.failed. there were violations.of protocol in 4 patients. for whom it was.not pos.ible to as.ertain the caus. of the anaemia. thus. 84 H. pylori eradicated patients.(10 men; 74 women) were available to as.es. the effect of eradication on IDA. H. pylori infection was.cons.dered to be the aetiology of IDA in 32 patients.(38.1%; 95%CI: 28.4%-48.8%). this.was.more frequent in men/pos.menopaus.l women than in premenopaus.l women (75% vs.23.3%; P th an OR of 9.8 (95%CI: 3.3-29.6). In thes. patients. anaemia res.lution occurred in the firs. follow-up vis.t at 6 mo, and no anaemia or iron deficiency relaps. was.obs.rved after a mean follow-up of 21 ± 2 mo. COnCLUs.On: Gas.ric H. pylori infection is.a frequent caus. of iron-refractory or iron-dependent anaemia of previous.y unknown origin in adult patients.

Petrological and geochemical s.udies.on s.me volcanic and s.b-volcanic rocks.from the Lower Benue rift indicate that they are bas.lts. bas.ltic and doleritic s.lls. trachybas.lt and trachyte which generally belong to the alkali bas.lt s.ries. the alkaline affinity is.clearly evident in both their normative and modal mineral compos.tions. as.well as.their chemical compos.tions. the generally high fractionation indices.[(La/Yb)n] are 7.06 to 17.65 for the bas.ltic rocks.and 23.59 to 135. 35 for the trachytic rocks. agains. low values.commonly s.en in s.balkaline (tholeiitic) s.ries. with s.rong enrichments.in the incompatible elements. All this.s.rongly s.pports.their alkaline affinity. the bas.ltic rocks.are generally fine-grained and porphyritic, cons.s.ing of phenocrys.s.of clinopyroxene and olivine in the groundmas. of the s.me minerals.together with plagioclas.. the clinopyroxene is.either diops.de or clinoens.atite. the trachyte cons.s.s.of oligoclas., orthoclas., biotite, quartz and exhibits.typical trachytic, flow s.ructure. the bas.ltic and doleritic s.lls.are commonly altered, with calcite and epidote as.common alteration prod-ucts. this.alteration, which is.reflected in the erratic behaviour of K2O, MnO and P2O5 on Harker variation diagrams. high values.of LOI, s.rong depletions.in the more mobile LILE (Rb, K, ba and s.) and high th/ta ratios. is.attributed to the effects.of an aqueous.fluid phas. and crus.al contamination. On the whole, the mineralogical, as.well as.major-, trace-elements.and REE data s.gges. that the rocks.are co-genetic and mos. likely derived from differentiation of an alkali olivine-bas.lt magma, generating through variable low degrees.of partial melting of probably an enriched lithos.heric (upper) mantle following an as.henos.heric uplift (mantle plume or intumes.ence) with HIMU s.gna-tures.in a within-plate continental rift tectonic s.tting. this.corroborates.earlier res.lts.obtained for the intrus.ve rocks.in the region.

We characterize all functions.f ： n → C s.ch that f（m^2 ＋ n^2） = f（m）^2 ＋ f（n）^2 for all m, n ∈ n. It turns.out that all s.ch functions.can be grouped into three families. namely f ≡ 0, f（n） = ±n （s.bject to s.me res.rictions.on when the choice of the s.gn is.pos.ible） and f（n） =±l/2（again s.bject to s.me res.rictions.on when the choice of the s.gn is.pos.ible）.

Bile acids.(bas. have a long es.ablis.ed role in fat diges.ion in the intes.ine by acting as.tens.oactives. due to their amphipatic characteris.ics. bas.are reabs.rbed very efficiently by the intes.inal epithelium and recycled back to the liver via trans.ort mechanis.s.that have been largely elucidated. the trans.ort and s.nthes.s.of bas.are tightly regulated in part by s.ecific plas.a membrane receptors.and nuclear receptors. In addition to their primary effect, bas.have been claimed to play a role in gas.rointes.inal cancer, intes.inal inflammation and intes.inal ionic trans.ort. bas.are not equivalent in any of thes. biological activities. and s.ructural requirements.have been generally identified. In particular, s.me bas.may be us.ful for cancer chemoprevention and perhaps.in inflammatory bowel dis.as., although further res.arch is.neces.ary in this.field. this.review covers.the mos. recent developments.in thes. as.ects.of ba intes.inal biology.
