Perpetrators of Sexual Violence against Minors in Casamance (Senegal)

Introduction: The causes of sexual delinquency against children are multifactorial and the motivations that drive the perpetrators of sexual assault are diverse. Nowadays, there is still no consensus on a single portrait of child sex offenders and studies that focus on sex offenders are still rare in Senegal and Africa. Objectives: To determine the profile of the perpetrators and to identify the circumstances of sexual violence against minors in Casamance. Materials and Methods: A retrospective descriptive and analytical study from April 1, 2014 to October 31, 2019 was conducted. The study population was made up of perpetrators of sexual violence against minors whose legal proceedings were dealt with at the Ziguinchor High Court. The data were entered into an Excel spreadsheet and then analyzed using Epi InfoTM 7 software. Results: A total of 106 cases of sexual violence against minors were collected for 113 aggressors and 106 victims. Rape accounted for 66.03% of sexual violence. Male aggressors were 98.23%. Female victims accounted for 95.28%. The average age of the attackers was 32.52 years (±13.68). Offenders over the age of 35 committed the most rape (p = 0.043). The average age of the victims was 12.62 years (±3.42). Victims aged ten and over (p = 0.015) and who had a low level of education (p = 0.016) were more exposed to rape. The assault took place during the day (65.71%) and at the home of the aggressor (62.26%). Victims knew their attackers (84.47%). Victims were assaulted more than once by the same assailant (40.57%). Those aged 10 years and over (p = 0.0037) and who knew their attackers (p = 0.014) were more at risk of being repeatedly sexually abused. Conclusion: In Senegal, sexual violence against minors is perpetrated by young adult men, single, with little or no education and exercising low-income professions. Conformational Radiotherapy of Prostatic Adenocarcinoma at the Dalal Jamm Hospital, Senegal—(Retrospective Analysis of a Series of 62 Cases)

Aim: We endeavored to describe the epidemiological profile of prostatic cancer, and to evaluate its diagnostic and therapeutic aspects. Method: We conducted a descriptive retrospective study on the conformational radiotherapy of prostatic adenocarcinoma at the Dalal Jamm University Hospital, Senegal from June 2018 to December 2019. We included 62 consecutive patients. The average age of the patients was 68.9 years. The average consultation time was 7.6 months. Results: Symptom manifestation and high PSA triggered the diagnosis of cancer in 74.2% and 25.8% of patients, respectively. Symptoms: pollakiuria (72.3%), bone pain (8%) and erectile dysfunction (4.8%). The digital rectal examination: normal (33.8%), nodular (30.6%), induration (24.1%), and shielding (11.3%). The mean PSA level was 90.6 ng/ml. Histology: adenocarcinoma was the most common (98.6%). The Gleason score: 7 (19.4%). The majority of patients were in the high-risk group (70.9%) and 7 patients (11.2%) were metastatic at diagnosis. Therapy: first radical prostatectomy (20.9%), first-line curative radiotherapy (67.8%), adjuvant (21%) and palliative radiotherapy in 7 patients (11.2%): patients having received palliative radiotherapy had an estimated decline in symptoms of 80%. Hormone therapy was performed in 88.8% of patients, with average duration of 12.5 months. After a mean follow-up of 15 months, 59 patients were alive, including 45 cases (81.8%) in complete remission;3 patients with metastasis at the first visit (having received palliative radiotherapy) died. Albinism represents a set of genetic abnormalities characterized by a decrease or absence of melanin. Albinism in the black subject combines white skin and other morphological characteristics of the black race. Squamous cell carcinomas of the face in albinos are a common reason for consultation. Management remains most often complex. The objective of this work was to describe the management of a case of skin cancer of the face in an albino woman. She was a 26-year-old albino woman. She is a housewife and married. She consulted on 02/04/17 for a tumor of the right side. The tumour was about 6 cm in diameter and had been growing for 7 months. There was no palpable head and neck disease. The rest of the clinical examination was normal. The biopsy concluded that there was squamous cell carcinoma. The extension assessment had not found a secondary location. She received an excision of the tumor with a margin of 10 mm and a total skin graft. The trend has been favourable after three years. No recurrence was observed. The management of facial skin cancer should be the subject of a multidisciplinary consultation. Surgery occupies an important place in the therapeutic arsenal.

Characteristics of the Heart of School-Age Children in a Schistosomiasis Endemic Area in Senegal

Introduction: In Senegal, surveys have revealed areas of high endemicity of?Schistosomiasis including the town of Richard Toll. We undertook this study?to determine the echocardiocardiographic characteristics of school-agechildren in endemic bilharziasis. Methodology: We performed a descriptive cross-sectional study in Richard Toll and Dakar in school-age children. Results: A total of 250 children were included. There was male?predominance, age between 4 and 16 (10 years old ± 2.77). Hematuria was reported in 69.6% of cases in endemic areas. Positive testing for Schistoma hæmatobium was found exclusively in Richard-Toll at 33.5%. The diastolic, systolic, basal and median left ventricle dimensions were larger in Richard Toll’s population compared to Dakar. It was the same for the right chambers dimensions. The average pulmonary systolic arterial pressure was greater in Richard-Toll: 26.38 ± 3.16 mmHg versus 21.82 ± 1.73 mmHg in Dakar (p Conclusion: The heart of the school-aged child in endemic area is characterized by larger cavitary dimensions.

The surface layer structure was observed with ima,SEM and TEM before and after implantation and/or *** B^+ implanted surface region consists of amorphous Ni-B phase,Ni_3B and Ni_4B_3 second phases,and damage *** corresponding measurements indicate that both surface micro-hardness and endurance limit of the specimens have increased after *** with unimplanted specimens under the same fa- tigue condition,all implanted specimens show the smallest overall fatigue *** cyclic loading at room temperature can lead to migration of implanted B^+ out surface layer and reerystallization of amorphous Ni-B phase,Possible strengthening *** these ex- perimental results were discussed.

目的评价^(99m)Tc-HYNIC-TOC生长抑素受体显像诊断和鉴别诊断胰岛素瘤的临床价值。方法回顾性分析近11年来65例胰岛素瘤患者的^(99m)Tc-HYNIC-TOC显像结果 ,并与胰腺灌注CT、B超或内镜超声结果比较。结果 65例患者均进行^(99m)Tc-HYNIC-TOC显像,阳性28例,检出率43.1%。部分患者进行胰腺灌注CT、B超或内镜超声检查,检出率分别为92.5%、25.6%和76.9%。结论单独应用^(99m)Tc-HYNIC-TOC显像对胰岛素瘤的定性诊断和鉴别诊断临床价值有限,需联合应用多项分子影像诊断技术。
