In recent years, the transcription factor ABI4 has emerged as an important node of integration for externaland internal signals such as nutrient status and hormone signaling that modulates critical transitions during the growthand development of plants. For this reason, understanding the mechanism of action and regulation of this protein rep-resents an important step towards the elucidation of crosstalk mechanisms in plants. However, this understanding hasbeen hindered due to the negligible levels of this protein as a result of multiple posttranscriptional regulations. To betterunderstand the function and regulation of the ABI4 protein in this work, we performed a functional analysis of severalevolutionarily conserved motifs. based on these conserved motifs, we identified ortholog genes of ABI4 in differentplant species. The functionality of the putative ortholog from Theobroma cacao was demonstrated in transient expres-sion assays and in complementation studies in plants. The function of the highly conserved motifs was analyzed aftertheir deletion or mutagenesis in the Arabidopsis ABI4 sequence using mesophyll protoplasts. This approach permitted usto immunologically detect the ABI4 protein and identify some of the mechanisms involved in its regulation. We identi-fied sequences required for the nuclear localization （AP2-associated motif） as well as those for transcriptional activationfunction （LRP motif）. Moreover, this approach showed that the protein stability of this transcription factor is controlledthrough protein degradation and subcellular localization and involves the AP2-associated and the PEST motifs. We dem-onstrated that the degradation of ABI4 protein through the PEST motif is mediated by the 26S proteasome in responseto changes in the sugar levels.

The swimming endurance of whiteleg shrimp （Litopenaeus vannamei, 87.66 mm±0.25 mm, 7.73 g±0.06 g） was exam-ined at various concentrations of dissolved oxygen （dO, 1.9, 3.8, 6.8 and 13.6mgL-1） in a swimming channel against one of the fiveflow velocities （vb v2, v3, v4 and vs）. Metabolite contents in the plasma, hepatopancreas and pleopods muscle of the shrimp werequantified before and after swimming fatigue. The results revealed that the swimming speed and dO concentration were significantfactors that affected the swimming endurance ofL. vannamei. The relationship between swimming endurance and swimming speedat various dO concentrations can be described by the power model （vtb= a）. The relationship between dO concentration （mgL-l） e 9000and the swimming ability index （SAI）, defined as SAI= ∫9000vdt （cm）, can be described as SAI=27.947dO0.137 （R2=0.9312）. Thelevel of dO concentration directly affected the physiology of shrimp, and exposure to low concentrations of dO led to the increasesin lactate and energetic substrate content in the shrimp. In responding to the low dO concentration at 1.9 mg L-1 and the swimmingstress, L. vannamei exhibited a mix of aerobic and anaerobic metabolism to satisfy the energetic demand, mainly characterized by theutilization of total protein and glycogen and the production of lactate and glucose. Fatigue from swimming led to severe loss ofplasma triglyceride at Vl, v2, and v3 with 1.9mgL-1dO, and at V1 with 3.8, 6.8 and 13.6mgL-1 dO, whereas the plasma glucose con-tent increased significantly at v3, v4 and v5 with 3.8 and 6.8mgL-1 dO, and at v5 with 13.6mgL-1 dO. The plasma total protein andhepatopancreas glycogen were highly depleted in shrimp by swimming fatigue at various dO concentrations, whereas the plasmalactate accumulated at high levels after swimming fatigue at different velocities. Esophageal carcinoma is a highly lethal cancer associated with high morbidity and mortality. Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma and esophageal adenocarcinoma are the two distinct histological types. There has been significant progress in endoscopic diagnosis and treatment of early stages of cancer using resection and ablation techniques, as shown in several trials in the recent past. Earlier detection of esophageal cancer and advances in treatment modalities have lead to improvement in the 5-year survival from 5% to about 20% in the past decade. Endoscopic eradication therapy is the preferred modality of treatment in cancer limited to mucosal layer of the esophagus as there is very low risk of lymph node metastasis, leading to high cure rates, low risk of recurrence and with few adverse effects. The most common adverse events seen are strictures, bleeding and rarely perforation which can be endoscopically managed. In patients with recurrent advanced disease or invasive tumor, esophagectomy with lymph node dissection remains the mainstay of treatment. There is debate on post-endoscopic surveillance with some studies suggesting closer follow up with upper endoscopy every 6 mo for the first 1-2 years and then annually for the 3 years while others recommending the appropriate action only if symptoms or other abnormalities develop. Overall, the field of endoscopic therapy is still evolving and focus should be placed on careful patient selection using a multidisciplinary approach.

On-time recognition and early control of the stresses in the paddy crops at the booting growth stage is the key to prevent qualitative and quantitative loss of agricultural *** conventional paddy crop stress recognition and classification activities invariably rely on human experts identifying visual symptoms as a means of *** process is admittedly subjective and error-prone,which in turn can lead to incorrect actions being taken in stress management *** work presented in this paper aims to design a deep convolutional neural network(dCnn)framework for automatic recognition and classification of various biotic and abiotic paddy crop stresses using the field *** has adopted the pre-trained VGG-16 Cnn model for the automatic classification of stressed paddy crop images captured during the booting growth *** trained models achieve an average accuracy of 92.89%on the held-out dataset,demonstrating the technical feasibility of using the deep learning approach utilizing 30,000 field images of 5 different paddy crop varieties with 12 different stress categories(including healthy/normal).The proposed work finds applications in developing the decision support systems and mobile applications for automating the field crop and resource management practices.

Objective The antifungal activity of various solvent extracts (such as ether, chloroform, ethyl acetate and ethyl alcohol) of the plant Phyllanthus amarus against dermatophytic fungi Microsporum gypseum was observed. Method Antifungal bioassay in terms of reduction in weight, colony diameter and sporulation of the target fungal colony was carried out using Broth dilution method. Results Root part of the plant, extracted in various organic solvents did not show any noticeable antifungal activity. The percentage inhibition observed in different solvent extracts of aerial part was found as reduction in weight: chloroform [50.3%], ethyl acetate [27.7%] and ethyl alcohol [12.1%], reduction in colony diameter: chloroform [53.4%], ethyl acetate [31.4%] and ethyl alcohol [15.0%] and reduction in sporulation: maximum inhibition in chloroform extract, at test concentration of 4000 ppm at incubation period of 8 days. Conclusion Chloroform fraction of the aerial part of the plant P. amarus shows significant inhibitory effect against dermatophytic fungi M. gypseum and requires chemical characterization for its bioactive principle.

Apart from being a clean source of energy,photovoltaic(PV)power plants are also a source of income generation for its investors and ***,mitigation of system losses is crucial for economic operation of PV *** losses due to soiling,shading and temperature in PV plants go as high as 50%.Much of these losses are unaccounted initially,which can jeopardize the economic viability of PV *** paper aims to provide a model to determine losses due to soiling,shading and temperature using quantities like irradiance,cell temperature,dC power and current,which are readily available in PV yield data captured by the remote monitoring system,without involving any additional sensors or *** this study,soiling,shading and thermal losses were calculated using PV yield data obtained from a 30-kWp PV plant located in Kharagpur,*** results showed soiling and shading losses as high as 25.7%and 9.7%,respectively,in the month of *** loss was verified by measuring transmittance loss of coupon glasses installed in the vicinity of the *** loss was verified by shadow simulation using an architectural tool(SketchUp).Array thermal loss obtained using the proposed methodology was found to be in line with the estimated value obtained from PVsyst ***,using time-series data,the energy losses corresponding to soiling,shading and temperature effects were calculated by a numerical-integration *** monetary loss due to these energy losses thus obtained provides criteria for deciding when to mitigate the sources of these losses.

In the present work,we develop in detail the process leading to reduction of models in chemical kinetics when using the Method of Invariant Grids(MIG).To this end,reduced models(invariant grids)are obtained by refining initial approximations of slow invariant manifolds,and used for integrating smaller and less stiff systems of equations capable to recover the detailed description with high ***,we clarify the role played by thermodynamics in model reduction,and carry out a comparison between detailed and reduced solutions for a model hydrogen oxidation reaction.
