Structural health monitoring employs different tools and techniques to provide a prediction for damages that occur in various *** such as debond and cracks in concrete-filled steel tube column(CFST)are serious defects that threaten the integrity of the structural *** waves monitoring applied to the CFST column is necessary to detect damages and quantify their ***,without appropriate signal processing tools,the results of the monitoring process could not be *** this research,a monitoring process based on a Multiphysics numerical simulation study was carried *** signal processing tools:short time Fourier transform(STFT)and Welch Power Spectral density Estimate(PSd)were used to analyse the captured raw *** STFT spectrogram was effective in identifying the different size of damage based on a graphical *** results show that the increasing of frequency of the excited signal give a better *** increase in peak magnitude values in Welch PSd was found to be proportionate to the change in damage length whereas the damage depth has a less *** results for the crack size identification were less promising than those of debond damage because of the different type of the signal’s propagation *** process conducted by COMSOL software has proved the validity of the adopted signal processing techniques in detecting such damages in CFST columns.

Blood and Gastrointestinal Parasites of Chickens and Turkeys Reared in the Tropical rainforest Zone of Southeastern nigeria

The blood and gastrointestinal (GI) parasites of chickens and turkeys reared in Owerri, Southeastern nigeria were studied. Out of 5600 birds, 5040 (90%) were chickens and 560 (10%) were turkeys. Of these birds, 672 (12%) were infected with blood parasites, of which 448 (8.9%) were chickens and 224 (40%) turkeys. The blood parasites found in chickens were Leucocytozoon sp., with a prevalence rate of 448 (8.9%) occurring in both male and female chickens examined. Plasmodium sp. was found in the turkeys and it gave a prevalence of 224 (40%). 1792 (32%) of the birds were infected with faecal parasites, out of which, 1456 (28.9%) were chickens and 336 (60%) turkeys examined. Ascaridia sp. infected 1232 (24.4%) of the chickens and 336 (60%) of the turkeys were examined. The only cestode observed was raillietina spp., which infected 224 (4.4%) of the chickens, but none in the turkeys. Generally, low blood and faecal infections were observed in the chickens, while infections in the turkeys were slightly higher.

This study investigated some aspects of the reproductive biology of male and female greater bandicoot rats, bandicota indica, in southern Thailand from September 2004 to September 2006. In females, body, uterine and preputial gland weights, occurrences of pregnancies and placental scars, and in males, testicular weights and histology, and sizes of accessory sex glands, were recorded. Pregnancies occurred predominantly, but not exclusively, in the wet season, with a higher incidence pregnancies in the second, than in the first, dry season. Uterine and preputial gland weights tended to be lower in the first, but not the second dry season, with placental scars occurring at all times of year. Males tended to have heavier testes in the wet season but some seminiferous tubules contained sperm even in the dry season. Seminal vesicles, but not prostates and preputial glands, tended to be heavier in animals in the wet season. We conclude that the greater bandicoot rat in southern Thailand shows maximal reproductive activity in the wet season with some reproductive activity, albeit variable from year to year, occurring in the dry season depending upon environmental conditions. This study has also shown that females, as well as males, have large preputial glands, and that males invariably have small testes regardless of the time of year. These observations suggest a similar timing of reproduction, but a different breeding biology and perhaps social organisation, from that of the sylnpatric ricefield rat, rattus argentiventer.

Present study is a numerical investigation of the flow,heat and mass transfer behaviour of magnetohydrodynamic flow over a vertical rotating cone through porous medium in the presence of thermal radiation,chemical reaction and Soret ***,the numerical solutions are elucidated by using Runge-Kutta based shooting *** results are validated with open literature and found an excellent *** influence of non-dimensional governing parameters on velocity,temperature and concentration profiles along with the friction factor,local nusselt and Sherwood numbers are determined and discussed with the help of graphs and *** proved that the variable porosity parameter have tendency to enhance the heat and mass transfer *** increase in the buoyancy parameter depreciates the thermal and concentration boundary layer thicknesses.

discrimination among grapevine varieties based on quantitative traits,such as flowering,veraison and ripening dates is crucial for variety selection in the context of climate change and in breeding *** traits are under complex genetic control for which 6 linked SSR loci(VVS2,VVIn16,VMC7G3,VrZAG29,VMC5G7,and VVIB23)have been *** these markers in HRM-PCR analysis,we assessed genetic diversity among a large collection of 192 grapevine *** grapevine germplasm used encompasses the majority of Greek vineyard with 181 varieties,3 prominent foreign varieties and 11 varieties of Palestinian *** SSR markers used were highly polymorphic,displaying unique melting curves for unusually higher number of samples than generally observed in SSR *** prompted us to examine sequence composition for selected samples and found that variation present as SnPs in the flanking sequences of SSR motifs was responsible for the observed ***,HRM-PCR proved to be a tool of higher analytical power to distinguish genotypes surpassing the discrimination power of conventional gel-based SSR *** study provides a better understanding of genetic variation of SSR marker loci associated to phenological traits in grapevine varieties,signifying an analytical methodology that may be of higher discrimination power in detection of polymorphism for utilization in breeding programs.

Metallothioneins （MTs） were discovered in 1957 by Margoshes and Vallee and identified as low-molecular weight and sulphydryl rich proteins. It is not surprising that most mammalian tissues contain age related basal levels of MTs since they are involved in metalloregulatory processes that include cell growth and multiplication. In an effort to understand the biology of this intriguing tumor, various biomarkers such as oncogenes, p53 tumor suppressor gene, war 1 protein, proliferating cell nuclear antigen, telomerase, microsatellite markers and cytogenetic changes have been examined. One biomarker which has recently shown to be expressed in various human tumors but still less reported in carcinoma is MT. Immunohistochemical detection of MT proteins in cold acetone-fixed paraffin embedded liver sections was performed by the streptavidin-avidin-biotin immunoperoxidase complex method.
