Physarum polycephalum-inspired adaptive optimization design of artificial microtubular networks

Natural biological microtubular networks have undergone adaptive evolutionary selection and may offer viable solutions to design challenges in artificial microtubular networks. The plasmodium of the slime mold Physarum polycephalum(P. polycephalum) extends continuously to form a protoplasmic microtubular network structure, directly connecting food *** simulations revealed that the formation of this adaptive P. polycephalum microtubular network could be captured by a mathematical algorithm. Inspired by the P. polycephalum microtubular networks, we propose an adaptive optimization design method for artificial microtubular networks. Specifically, we utilized hydrogels with biodegradable and tissue-adhesive properties to replicate the P. polycephalum microtubular networks via photomask. In Rhodamine B diffusion and glucosecatalyzed reaction experiments, we found that the P. polycephalum microtubular networks exhibited significantly enhanced efficiency compared to vascular and artificial networks. Furthermore, we demonstrated the potential for uric acid(UA) degradation of the hydrogels with a real P. polycephalum microtubular network loaded with urate oxidase(UOx) in a rodent model of hyperuricemia. And this network achieved more than double the effect of the artificial network. This underscores the potential of natural microtubular networks to replace artificial microtubular networks.

Lowering the synthesis temperature of boron nitride nanotubes(BNNTs)is crucial for their *** primary reason for adopting a high temperature is to enable the effective activation of highmelting-point solid *** this study,we developed a novel approach for efficiently activating boron by introducing alkali metal compounds into the conventional MgO–B *** approach can be adopted to form various low-melting-point AM–Mg–B–O growth *** growth systems have improved catalytic capability and reactivity even under low-temperature conditions,facilitating the synthesis of BNNTs at temperatures as low as 850℃.In addition,molecular dynamics simulations based on density functional theory theoretically demonstrate that the systems maintain a liquid state at low temperatures and interact with N atoms to form BN *** findings offer novel insights into the design of boron activation and are expected to facilitate research on the low-temperature synthesis of BNNTs.

The policy of land transfer has greatly influenced the macro economy of China with the commencement of another innovation of land use system. Therefore, it is urgent to put forward some rational and feasible suggestions for local government to manage the market of land transfer. Moreover, it is important in the field of study on agricultural land use change to analyze the spatial differentiation and structural specification of land transfer, which are caused by rural households＇ behavior. This paper selected I l factors covering four aspects of rural households＇ family structure, family location, family income structure and the natural quality of land resources, all of which influence the behavior differentiation of rural households, to establish the index model indicating spatial differentiation of land transfer. Results show that the spatial differentiation of land transfer can be divided into four degrees and three categories through analyzing rural households＇ questionnaires from Shanghai, Nanjing and Taizhou in the Changjiang （Yangtze） River Delta. Since up to 80% of rural households belong to middle degrees, it can be concluded that the rural land market develops evenly in the study areas. And it is also indicated that the natural quality of land resources and the maximum income of rural land are most important factors influencing the spatial differentiation of land transaction. Considering different factors, the countermeasures can be carried out to enhance the spatial differentiation of land transfer so as to promote economic development and social security of rural China. All in all, both micro- factors and macro-factors influencing rural households＇ behavior of rural land transfer should be taken into account in order to make spatial differentiation and structural specification of rural land transfer notable.

Mapping the Risk of Water Erosion in the Watershed of the Ningxia-Inner Mongolia Reach of the Yellow River, China

Mapping and assessing soil-erosion risk can address the likelihood of occurrence of erosion as well as its consequences. This in turn provides precautionary and relevant suggestions to assist in disaster reduction. Because soil erosion by water in the watershed of the Ningxia-Inner Mongolia reach of the Yellow River is closely related to silting of the upper reaches of the Yellow River, it is necessary to assess erosion risk in this watershed. This study aims to identify the soil-erosion risk caused by water in the watershed of the Ningxia-Inner Mongolia reach of the Yellow River from 2ool to aOlO. Empirical models called Chinese Soil Loss Equation （CSLE） and Modified Universal Soil Loss Equation （MUSLE） were used to predict the erosion modulus in slope surfaces and gullies. Then the soil erosion risk in this watershed was assessed according to the classification criteria of soil erosion intensities （SL19o-2oo7）. The study results showed that the range of values of the erosion modulus in this watershed was o-44,733 t/km2/a. More than 20% of the total watershed area was found to present an erosion risk, with the regions at risk mainly located in channels and their upper reaches, and in mountainous areas. To determine the regression coefficients of the erosion factors with respect to erosion modulus, a GWR （geographically weighted regression） was carried out using the ArcGIS software. It was found that the topographic factor has the highest contribution rate to the soil erosion modulus, while the highest contribution rate of the erosion factors to the erosion modulus and the largest values of the factors were not located in the same places. Based on this result, the authors propose that slope management is the most important task in preventing soil loss in this watershed, and the soil- conservation projects should be built according to the eontribution rate of the erosion factors.

Undersea safety mining of the large gold deposit in Xinli District of Sanshandao Gold Mine

The exploration of undersea resources becomes popular as land resources decrease. Researches were conducted with emphasis on the safety and efficiency of undersea mining of the large gold deposit in Xinli District of Sanshandao Gold Mine. A series of tests for the physical and mechanical characteristics of rock mass were carried out, and the three-dimensional geo-stress distribution was tested in the mining area. Further, a similar experimental simulation platform, which revealed the mechanism of water inrush and ascertained the reason- able thickness of the safety isolate layer, was established for the undersea mining. Meanwhile, the feasibility of cancelling the ore pillars and the safety conditions was checked by numerical simulation. The simulation results show that it is safe to exploit the ore body below the -85 m level （presently, the exploitation level is below -160 m in Xinli District）, and the ore pillars can be cancelled below the -560 m level. Fur- thermore, a novel backfill method was designed to reduce the rock strata disturbance and settlement, and the settlement of roof strata was monitored during the mining process. Engineering practice shows that the settlement of roof strata was small and that no disaster happened. This indicates that the undersea safety mining technology of the large gold deposit is achieved in Xinli District.

It is still a formidable challenge to simultaneously switch single-chain magnet(SCM)behavior via ligand modification and light irradiation in the field of molecular ***,we present a ligandbridged layer{[pzTpFe(CN)3]4Co2(Bib)4}·3H2O(1;pzTp,tetra-kis(1-pyrazolyl)borate;Bib,1,4-bis-(1Himidazol-1-yl)benzene)and a well-isolated double chain{[pzTpFe(CN)3]2Co(Bpi)2}·CH3CN·4H2O(2;Bpi,1-Biphenyl-4-yl-1H-imidazole)that display reversible metal-to-metal charge transfer(MMCT)between FeIII LS(μ-CN)CoII HS(μ-NC)FeIII LS(LS,low spin;HS,high spin)and FeIII LS(μ-CN)CoIII LS(μ-NC)FeII LS linkages under alternating irradiation with 808 and 532 nm *** bidirectional light irradiations induces significant changes in anisotropy and intrachain magnetic interactions,resulting in the on/off switching of SCM behavior with observable hysteresis loops by 808 and 532 nm light irradiations for both *** of the ligand modification,the SCM property of 2 with the monodentate ligand is greatly improved with a correlation length increased to 83,which is the largest correlation length among all reported light actuated ***,the influence of ligand modification on their thermally induced MMCT is also *** study provides a rational approach for the swift and reversible control of SCM behavior via ligand modified and light induced MMCT,which is crucial to the future technological demand for high-density data storage and processing.

A two-stage damage detection approach is proposed and experimentally demonstrated on a complicated spatial model structure with a limited number of measurements. In the experiment,five known damage patterns,including 3 brace damage cases and 2 joint damage cases,were simulated by removing braces and weakening beam鈥揷olumn connections in the structure. The limited acceleration response data generated by hammer impact were used for system identification,and modal parameters were extracted by using the eigensystem realization algorithm. In the first stage,the possible damaged locations are determined by using the damage index and the characteristics of the analytical model itself,and the extent of damage for those substructures identified at stage I is estimated in the second stage by using a second-order eigen-sensitivity approximation method. The main contribution of this paper is to test the two-stage method by using the real dynamic data of a complicated spatial model structure with limited sensors. The analysis results indicate that the two-stage approach is ableto detect the location of both damage cases,only the severity of brace damage cases can be assessed,and the reasonable analytical model is critical for successful damage detection.
