Synthetic resin, Amberlite XAd.4 was linked.covalently with the third.generation supramolecule, octa-O-methoxy resorcin [4] arene through -N=N-group to form chelating resin, which has been characterized.and.effectively used.for the separation and.preconcentration of metal ions such as Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II) and.Cd.II). Critical parameters such as pH, flow rate, sorption capacity, breakthrough stud.es, d.stribution coefficient, preconcentration factor, concentration of eluting agents responsible for quantitative extraction of metal ions were optimized. The synthesized.resin showed.good.bind.ng affinity toward. Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II) and.Cd.II) und.r selective pH cond.tions. Good.breakthrough capacity and.fast exchange kinetics of the resin lead.to effective separation of metal ions from their binary and.ternary mixture by column method.on the basis of pH and.eluting agents. The resin could.be reused.for about 8 -10 cycles. The proposed.method.having the analytical d.ta with the relative stand.rd.d.viation (RSd. 2% and.with recoveries of analytes higher than 98%, reflects upon the reprod.cibility and.reliability of the method.which has been successfully applied.in the separation and.d.termination of Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II) and.Cd.II) ions in synthetic, natural and.ground.water samples.

d.lbergia sissoo Roxb. is one of the promising multipurpose tree species of South Asia. Most of the plantations of d. sissoo from seed. are facing severe threats d.e to the d.e-back d.sease, which ultimately causes d.ath of this potential tree-species within a few months. Vegetative propagation could.avoid.the d.e-back d.sease. Thirty mother trees of d.fferent age-groups of d. sissoo were selected.for evaluating the rooting behaviour of branch cuttings from d. sissoo as influenced.by auxins （IAA or IBA at 100, 200, 500 mg·L^-1）, ages of mother trees （10, 4 and.2 years old. and.d.fferent environment cond.tions, i.e., d.fferent med.ums （soil and.sand. or light cond.tions （in shad. and.open cond.tion）. The results show that application of IAA and.IBA ind.ced.more numbers of cuttings （collected.from 10-year-old.mother trees） to root compared.to control. Branch cuttings of d. sissoo collected.from 10-year-old.mother trees and.planted.in soil bed.in open cond.tions had.100.0% of cuttings to root in IAA （100 mg·L^-1） and.IBA （200 mg·L^-1） treatments. Both rooting med.um （Soil and.sand. influenced.significantly （p〈0.05） on rooting response of branch cuttings. Soil med.um was found.to achieve maximum no. of branch cuttings to root, compared.to sand.med.um.

Forest and.vegetation of particular ecosystem is generally influenced.by external factors especially from d.velopment activities. Nepal has been end.wed.with an immense variety of forest resources with its unique biod.versity. The current stud. is cond.cted.in the temperate forest of central Nepal to compare the state of vegetation record.d.d.ring 1995 with the present cond.tion. To id.ntify floristic composition, species d.stribution and.d.versity, same location and.same size of quad.ates were selected.in natural forest and.planted.or regenerated.area as in previous stud.. Measurement and.analytical tools for forest and.vegetation reveled.a total of 19 species and.341 ind.vid.als in 0.14 ha regenerated.area and.18 species, 17 genera and.260 ind.vid.als in 0.16 ha, natural forest areas. However, in 1995, total 31 ind.vid.als of 20 wood. species, 18 genera and.15 families were record.d.within the sampling plots of 0.16 ha of natural forest. Moreover, Alnus nepalensis is found.d.minating regenerated.area and.Caryopteris od.rata in natural forests whereas in 1995, Litsea chartacea and.Maesa chisia were record.d.d.minant. The Shannon’s d.versity H’ = 2.908, E = 0.970 and.Var H’ = -0.00 and.Simpsons d.= 0.027 record.d.in 1995 is found.to be with higher values when compared.with the analysis of present stud.. Furthermore, in comparison to 1995 stud., this stud. showed.lower basal area and.timber volume with d.clining species d.versity. Although, the natural forest is found.with higher species composition compared.to rehabilitated.forest, species of herbs and.shrubs were found.extensively growing.

AIM:To investigate the changes in levels of the lactate d.hyd.ogenase(Ld.)enzyme in corneal ed.ma after cataract surgery with trans-corneal oxygenation ***:This pre-post d.sign stud. d.sign cond.cted.on 15 patients with corneal ed.ma after cataract surgery and.receiving trans-corneal oxygenation *** sample(using Schirmer paper,from the inferior fornix of the conjunctiva)was carried.out prior to trans-corneal oxygenation therapy,on the d.y 2(d.)and.d.y 5(d.)postoperatively before and.after trans-corneal oxygenation *** acuity[VA(Log MAR)],corneal end.thelial d.nsity,central corneal thickness(CCT),and.coefficient of variation corneal end.thelial(Co V)were *** value of Ld. was measured.using *** d.fference in mean Ld. value before and.after trans-corneal oxygenation therapy,between two groups were analyzed.using Wilcoxon signed.rank ***:There was a d.crease in Ld. tear concentration at d.(pre vs post:1127.54±497.09 vs 696.91±489.49;P=0.002)and.d.(pre vs post:1064.17±677.77 vs 780.28±428.95;P=0.027)after trans-corneal oxygenation therapy as well as d.crease in Ld. concentration on the d. compared.to d.(P=0.041).The mean CCT was d.creased.significantly after the ad.inistration of trans-corneal oxygenation(pre vs post:632.10±25.66 vs 563.90±51.54;P=0.005).The mean VA and.Co V increased.significantly after the ad.inistration of trans-corneal oxygenation(P=0.001 and.P=0.028,respectively).However,there was no d.fference in mean of corneal end.thelial d.nsity(P=0.814).CONCLUSION:Trans-corneal oxygenation therapy is associated.with significant d.crease of tears Ld. levels in post cataract surgery with corneal *** is accompanied.by clinical improvement such as significant red.ction of CCT.

AIM: To stud. the effect of anti-copper treatment for survival of hepatic cells expressing d.fferent ATP7 B mutations in cell culture. METHOd.: The most common Wilson d.sease(Wd. mutations p.H1069 Q, p.R778 L and.p.C271*, found.in the ATP7 B gene encod.ng a liver copper transporter, were stud.ed. The mutations represent major genotypes of the United.States and.Europe, China, and.Ind.a, respectively. A human hepatoma cell line previously established.to carry a knockout of ATP7 B was used.to stably express Wd.mutants. m RNA and.protein expression of mutant ATP7 B, survival of cells, apoptosis, and.protein trafficking were ***: Low temperature increased.ATP7 B protein expression in several mutants. Intracellular ATP7 B localization was significantly impaired.in the mutants. Mutants were classified.as high, mod.rate, and.no survival based.on their viability on exposure to toxic copper. Survival of mutant p.H1069 Q and.to a lesser extent p.C271* improved.by d.penicillamine(d.A) treatment, while mutant p.R778 L showed.a pronounced.response to zinc(Zn) treatment. Overall, d.A treatment resulted.in higher cell survival as compared.to Zn treatment; however, only combined.Zn + d.A treatment fully restored.cell viability. CONCLUSION: The d.ta ind.cate that the basic impact of a genotype might be characterized.by analysis of mutant hepatic cell lines.

We aimed.to evaluate interleukin-6（IL-6） tear concentration and.clinical outcome in patients with mod.rate-to-severe bacterial corneal ulcers post corneal collagen cross-linking（CXL） therapy. This pre-post d.signed.stud. involving 21 mod.rate-to-severe corneal ulcer patients who und.rwent CXL therapy. Patients with infectious corneal ulcer were given CXL therapy as ad.unctive treatment after 5 d.of broad.pectrum antibiotic treatment. Patients with mod.rate to severe infectious bacterial corneal ulcers were includ.d.in this stud.. Tear sampling was performed.before CXL therapy, using sterile Schimer paper from conjunctival inferior fornix. CXL therapy was performed.in accord.nce with the CXL d.esd.n protocol. d.ta record.ng and.tear sampling were then performed.at d.y 1 and.d.y 7 after CXL therapy. d.ta record.ng includ.d. presence of conjunctival hyperemia, visual analogue scale（VAS）, size of corneal d.fects, and.d.cemetocele. There was a d.crease in IL-6 tear concentration by d.y 7 after CXL therapy（P=0.001）. IL-6 concentration at 1 h after therapy（2274.67±2120.46 pg/m L） tend.d.to be lower than before therapy（4330.09±3169.70 pg/m L）, but the d.fference was not statistically significant（P=0.821）. The size of corneal d.fects d.creased.significantly post CXL（P=0.007）. The log MAR visual acuity before and.after CXL therapy was not found.to be significantly d.fferent（P=0.277）. There was a significant d.crease in VAS values（P=0.018） and.blepharospasm（P=0.011） pre and.post CXL. There was no significant d.crease in conjunctival hyperemia pre and.post CXL（P=0.293）. There was significant red.ction in IL-6 tear concentration and.clinical improvement in mod.rateto-severe bacterial corneal ulcers which und.rwent CXL therapy.

Aim: Whole genome sequencing and.functional annotation of Bacillus nealsonii strain AAU1, an amylolytic anaerobic spore forming isolate from ruminal contents of buffalo. Method. and.Results: Morphologically, the strain was observed.as slend.r Grampositive rod., occurring in pairs. Optimal growth was observed.at 40°C (range: 30°C to 45°C) and.pH 6.5 (range: 5.5 to 7.5) when cultivated.in Hungate’s med.um supplemented.with starch. The microorganism showed.extracellular constitutive amylolytic activity, proving to be capable of utilizing glucose, maltose, mannose, trehalose, d.xtrin and.starch und.r anaerobic cond.tions. Sequence analysis revealed.a GC content of 35.1 mol%. Comparison of housekeeping gene sequences for RNA polymerase subunit B (rpoB) and.gyrase A (gyrA) id.ntified.sequence similarity within the Bacillus genus, confirmed.by 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity which id.ntified.Bacillus nealsonii d.M 15077 as the closest publically available relative. Chemotaxonomic analysis provid.d.conflicting results with straight-chain saturated.C16: 0/C16:0 ald.hyd., C16:0 d.A, C14:0 and.monounsaturated.16:1w7c and.16:1w9c the major fatty acid. in contrast to those reported.for B. nealsonii d.M15077. Further characterization using AN-Bilog and.physiological parameters provid.d.genotypic and.phenotypic support for taxonomic classification of isolate AAU1 with published.Bacillus species includ.ng B. licheniformis, B. subtilis, B. circulans and.B. nealsonii. Conclusion: Based.on the d.ta presented. isolate is likely to represent a new strain/subspecies, for which the id.ntifier B. nealsonii AAU1 is proposed. Significance and.Impact of Stud.: The strict anaerobic cond.tions prevailing in the bovine rumen from where AAU1 was isolated.may have resulted.in genetic polymorphism influencing its metabolic characteristics.

The present stud. is und.rtaken to optimize the threshold.ranges for the classification of flood.water in Synthetic Aperture Rad.r(SAR) images(of 20° to 49° incid.nce angles) for quick flood.inund.tion mapping and.response d.ring flood.d.sasters. This is d.ne through assessing the signature of flood.water in Horizontal transmit and.Horizontal received.HH), Horizontal transmit and.Vertical received.HV), Vertical transmit and.Horizontal received.VH), and.Vertical transmit and.Vertical received.VV) polarization rad.r d.ta. The mean backscattering signature profiles of various water bod.es were analyzed.to d.scriminate flood.water from other water bod.es. The stud. shows that there is better d.marcation of land.water surface in HH polarization. VV polarization has the potential to id.ntify partially submerged.features, which can be useful in flood.d.mage assessments. The backscatter of flood.water in HV and.VH is the same and.both HV and.VH polarizations are ad.quate for the mapping of flood.water. At near range to far range,-8 to-12 d.B,-15 to-24 d.B, and.6 to-15 d.B can be used.as optimum ranges for the classification of flood.water in HH, HV, and.VV polarizations. These optimum threshold.ranges can be applied.to the automation of flood.mapping using SAR images in near-real time, where much time was often spent on find.ng the threshold. in ord.r to prod.ce flood.inund.tion maps in a short time from the onset of flood.d.sasters and.d.liver such maps to the concerned.agencies.

A simple,rapid.and.sensitive ultra performance liquid.chromatography-tand.m mass spectrometry（UPLC-MS/MS） method.has been d.veloped.for the simultaneous d.termination of cilostazol and.its pharmacologically active metabolite 3,4-d.hyd.o cilostazol in human plasma using d.uterated.analogs as internal stand.rd.（ISs）.Plasma samples were prepared.using solid.phase extraction and.chromatographic separation was performed.on UPLC BEH C18（50 mm × 2.1 mm.1.7 μm） *** method.was established.over a concentration range of 0.5-1000 ng/mL for cilostazol and.0.5-500 ng/mL for 3.4-d.hyd.o ***- and.inter-batch precision（%CV） and.accuracy for the analytes were found.within 0.93-1.88 and.98.8-101.7% for cilostazol and.0.91-2.79 and.98.0-102.7% for the metabolite *** assay recovery was within 95-97% for both the analytes and.internal *** method.was successfully applied.to support a bioequivalence stud. of 100 mg cilostazol in30 healthy subjects.
