Purpose The paper shows the interpretive impact of different constructions of the point of view available to the reader/viewer in book and animated movie versions of a children's picture book,a novel for pre-adolescents/early teenagers,and a graphic novel for adolescents and ***/Approach/Methods Excerpts from book and animated movie versions of the same story are compared using multimodal analysis of interpersonal meaning to show how the reader/viewer is positioned in relation to the characters in each version,complemented by analyses of ideational meaning to show the effect of point of view on interpretive *** Focusing mainly on multimodal construction of point of view,the analyses show how interpretive possibilities of ostensibly the same story are significantly reconfigured in animated adaptations compared with book versions even when the verbal narrative remains substantially ***/Value The study shows that it is crucial to students’critical appreciation of,and their creative contribution to,their evolving digital literary culture that in this new era of educational technology,attention in literacy and literary education focuses on developing understandings of digital multimodal narrative art,and that animated movie adaptations are not presented pedagogically as isomorphic with,or simply adjunct to,corresponding book versions.

Self-catalyst synthesis of aligned ZnO nanorods by pulsed laser deposition

High-density well-aligned ZnO nanorods were successfully synthesized on ZnO-buffer-layer coated indium phosphide (InP) (100) substrates by a pulsed laser deposition (PlD) method. Scanning electron microscopy images show that the ZnO buffer layer formed uniform drip-like structure and ZnO nano- rods were well-oriented perpendicular to the substrate surface. The sharp diffraction peak observed at 34.46° in X-ray diffraction scanning pattern suggests that the ZnO nanorods exhibit a (002)-preferred orientation. The Pl spectra of ZnO samples shows a strong near band edge emission centered at about 380 nm and a weak deep level emission centered at around 495 nm, and it demonstrates that the ZnO nanorods produced in this work have high optical quality, which sheds light on further applications for nanodevices.

Background:Dietary Reference Intakes are used to guide the energy intake of the Canadian Armed Forces(CAF)field rations provided to military personnel deployed for training or ***,the high energy expenditures likely to occur under harsh environmental/metabolically challenging deployment conditions may not be adequately *** study examined the Ad libitum energy and nutrient intakes of CAF personnel(n=18)consuming field rations in a resting thermoneutral environment and during a day of standardized strenuous infantry activities at varying environmental ***:Dietary intake was assessed using a measured food intake/food waste method during the experimental treatment and for 6 h after *** treatments were administered in a randomized counterbalanced design:exercise(as standardized infantry activities)in the heat(30℃),exercise in the cold(–10℃),exercise in temperate thermoneutral(21℃)air temperatures and a resting(sedentary)trial(21℃).Results:The average Ad libitum consumption of field rations was 70%of the provided total energy(2776±99 kcal/8 h)during all *** with an acute challenge of increased energy expenditure and temperature stress in the simulated field conditions,participants’energy intakes(1985±747 kcal/8 h)under hot,cold and temperate treatments did not differ from energy intake during the sedentary condition(1920±640 kcal/8 h).Participants’energy intakes(1009±527 kcal/6 h)did not increase during the 6 h posttreatment period when the stresses of the strenuous physical activities and the harsh environmental temperatures had ***:These results should be considered when planning the provision of field rations for CAF personnel expected to be engaged in strenuous physical activities with prolonged exposure to temperature extremes.

The potential of improving disease detection and treatment planning comes with accurate and fully automatic algorithms for brain tumor ***, a type of brain tumor, can appear at different locations with different shapes and sizes. Manual segmentation of brain tumor regions is not only timeconsuming but also prone to human error, and its performance depends on pathologists’ experience. In this paper, we tackle this problem by applying a fully convolutional neural network SegNet to 3 D data sets for four MRI modalities(Flair, T1, T1 ce, and T2)for automated segmentation of brain tumor and subtumor parts, including necrosis, edema, and enhancing tumor. To further improve tumor segmentation, the four separately trained SegNet models are integrated by post-processing to produce four maximum feature maps by fusing the machine-learned feature maps from the fully convolutional layers of each trained model. The maximum feature maps and the pixel intensity values of the original MRI modalities are combined to encode interesting information into a feature *** the combined feature as input, a decision tree(DT) is used to classify the MRI voxels into different tumor parts and healthy brain tissue. Evaluating the proposed algorithm on the dataset provided by the Brain Tumor Segmentation 2017(BraTS 2017)challenge, we achieved F-measure scores of 0.85, 0.81,and 0.79 for whole tumor, tumor core, and enhancing tumor, *** results demonstrate that using SegNet models with 3 D MRI datasets and integrating the four maximum feature maps with pixel intensity values of the original MRI modalities has potential to perform well on brain tumor segmentation.

公共组织中多次出现影响巨大的操作风险管理失败案例,让人们对公共组织理论中的操作风险管理产生了质疑。这些重复的操作风险失败案例源自于人为操作,属于内部流程和系统,以及外部事件引起的范畴。针对这一问题,本论文分析了创新能力、领导包容行为、感知到的工作团队多样性以及工作控制点因素之间的关系,同时考察这些因素对操作风险管理的影响。本论文采用横断式调查法,对中国大陆公共组织人员进行数据抽样调查。本文的理论假设已通过459个有效案例得到验证。本文发现,创新能力对操作风险管理有正面的影响。领导包容行为和感知到的工作团队多样性的介入进一步加强了操作风险管理。此外,工作控制点对领导包容行为、感知到的工作团队多样性和操作风险管理之间的关系具有正面影响。类似于之前的研究,本论文同样支持公共组织理论通过战略上定位创新型员工在保持高度包容的工作环境里所带来的操作风险管理的预期结果,从而进一步避免创新风险的能力。本研究主要关注在创新能力对操作风险管理的直接影响。本文展示了领导包容行为、感知到的工作团队多样性以及工作控制点在加强对公共组织操作风险管理的创新能力所起到的积极作用。
