A complex and functional living cellular system requires the interaction of one or more cell types to perform specific tasks,such as sensing,processing,or force *** and flexible platforms for fabrication of such multi-cellular modules and their characterization have been ***,we present a modular cellular system,made up of multi-layered tissue rings containing integrated skeletal muscle and motor neurons(MNs)embedded in an extracellular *** MNs were differentiated from mouse embryonic stem cells through the formation of embryoid bodies(EBs),which are spherical aggregations of cells grown in a suspension *** EBs were integrated into a tissue ring with skeletal muscle,which was differentiated in parallel,to create a co-culture amenable to both cell *** multi-layered rings were then sequentially placed on a stationary three-dimensionalprinted hydrogel structure resembling an anatomical muscle–tendon–bone *** demonstrate that the site-specific innervation of a group of muscle fibers in the multi-layered tissue rings allows for muscle contraction via chemical stimulation of MNs with glutamate,a major excitatory neurotransmitter in the mammalian nervous system,with the frequency of contraction increasing with glutamate *** addition of tubocurarine chloride(a nicotinic receptor antagonist)halted the contractions,indicating that muscle contraction was MN *** a bio-fabricated system permitting controllable mechanical and geometric attributes in a range of length scales,our novel engineered cellular system can be utilized for easier integration of other modular“building blocks”in living cellular and biological machines.

Improved STCA Model for Multi-Lane Using Driving Guidance under CVIS

In a multi-lane area,the increasing randomness of lane changes contributes to traffic insecurity and local traffic flow instability.A study on safe lane shifting activity that focuses on threat assessment under real-time knowledge is necessary to enhance smooth vehicle *** paper proposed amore comprehensive lane changing guidance rule to investigate the status of surrounding vehicles to accommodate future vehicle-on-road collaborative environments based on these parameters 1)lane change demand and 2)treat assessment *** collaborative relationships between vehicles are analyzed using a cellular automata model based on their location,velocity,and *** analyze and examine the relationship between the number of lanes and traffic flow when the road capacity is heavily mined via intelligent lane *** analysis can further provide theoretical guidance for the selection of road expansion *** proposed STCA-L is compared based on the average speed,average flow,lane changing frequency,spatial and temporal pattern of STCA,STCA-I,and STCA-S,and STCA-M under different vehicle *** numerical simulation results show that our proposed STCA-L provides themost flexible lane changing guidance in the multi-lanes ***,the simulated results show that the exponential growth of physical space cannot provide the corresponding increase in the average flow of vehicles.

Sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) have great potential to be the next major energy storage devices due to their obvious advantages and developing advanced electrodes and electrolytes is urgently necessary to promote its future ***,hard carbon as a state-of-the-art anode of SIBs still suffers from the low initial Coulomb efficiency and unsatisfactory rate capability,which could be improved by forming desirable solid electrolyte interphases (SEI) to some ***,the chemistry and morphology of these interfacial layers are fundamental parameters affecting the overall battery operation,and optimizing the electrolyte to dictate the quality of SEI on hard carbon is a key ***,this review summarizes the recent research on SEI design by electrolyte manipulation from solvents,salts,and *** also presents some potential mechanisms of SEI formation in various electrolyte ***,the current advanced characterization techniques for electrolyte and SEI structure analyses have been comprehensively ***,current challenges and future perspectives of SEI formation on hard carbon anode for SIBs are provided from the viewpoints of its compositions,evolution processes,structures,and characterization techniques,which will promote SEI efficient manipulation and improve the performance of hard carbon,and further contribute to the development of SIBs.

Biogeochemical evaluation of Nannorrhops ritchiana: A Mg-flora from Khuzdar, Balochistan, Pakistan

Nannorrhops ritchiana (Mazari Palm) is a distinctive flora growing in the Saharo-Sindian region. It is well distributed on the ultramafic soil, derived from the Bela Ophiolite in the Khuzdar District, Balochistan, Pakistan. Quantitative estimation of Ca, Mg, Fe and Ni in soil and plant ash has been carried out. The constituents of plant ash have been discussed in relation to soil chemistry, pH, climate, mobility, average abundance in plant ash and exclusion mechanism of the flora. Relationship among Ca, Mg, Fe and Ni has been established using scattergrams to evaluate the biogeochemistry of the plant. High contents of Mg and high coefficient of biological absorption allow it to be classed as Mg-flora. Both Ca and Fe appeared to be antagonistic to Mg. The metal assemblage of N. ritchiana nicely reflected the nature of the bed rock as being serpentinized ultramafic, and its corresponding soils. Good exclusion mechanism of N. ritchiana did not allow it to absorb high Ni from the soil. Relatively high concentrations of Ni in N. ritchiana from the Baran Lak area can be used to localize Ni-mineralization in the study area.; Statistical analyses, such as minimum, maximum, mean, mode, median, standard deviations, and coefficient of correlation, were also made to improve raw geochemical data and interpretations.

Parameter evaluation for soil erosion estimation on small watersheds using SWAT model

This research was undertaken for the evaluation of soil erosion using the semi-distributed basin scale SWAT model for four subcatchments of the Dhrabi River Catchment(DRC),which is located in the Pothwar Plateau *** subcatchments(catchment-25 and-31)are characterized by gullies while the other two(catchment-27 and-32)are managed with terraced landuse *** performance of the model was satisfactory with coefficient of determination(R^(2))=0.67 to 0.91 and Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency(ENS)=0.54 to 0.85 for both surface runoff and sediment yield during the calibration(2009-2010)and validation(2011)*** PUSLE factor was found to be the most sensitive parameter during model *** was observed that all of the rainfall-runoff events occurred during the monsoon season(June to September).The estimated annual sediment loss ranged from 2.6 t/hm^(2) to 31.1 t/hm^(2) over the duration of the simulation period for the non-terraced catchments,in response to annual precipitation amounts that were between 194.8 mm to 579.3 *** contrast,the predicted annual sediment levels for the terraced catchments ranged from 0.52 t/hm^(2) to 10.10 t/hm^(2) due to similar precipitation *** terraced catchments resulted in 4 to 5 times lower sediment yield as compared to non-terraced *** results suggest that there is a huge potential for terraces to reduce soil erosion in the DRC specifically and Pothwar area generally,which have proven to be an efficient approach to establishing soil and water conservation structures in this region.

With the rise of internet facilities,a greater number of people have started doing online transactions at an exponential rate in recent years as the online transaction system has eliminated the need of going to the bank physically for every ***,the fraud cases have also increased causing the loss of money to the ***,an effective fraud detection system is the need of the hour which can detect fraudulent transactions automatically in ***,the genuine transactions are large in number than the fraudulent transactions which leads to the class imbalance *** this research work,an online transaction fraud detection system using deep learning has been proposed which can handle class imbalance problem by applying algorithm-level methods which modify the learning of the model to focus more on the minority class i.e.,fraud transactions.A novel loss function named Weighted Hard-Reduced Focal Loss(WH-RFL)has been proposed which has achieved maximum fraud detection rate i.e.,True PositiveRate(TPR)at the cost of misclassification of few genuine transactions as high TPR is preferred over a high True Negative Rate(TNR)in fraud detection system and same has been demonstrated using three publicly available imbalanced transactional ***,Thresholding has been applied to optimize the decision threshold using cross-validation to detect maximum number of frauds and it has been demonstrated by the experimental results that the selection of the right thresholding method with deep learning yields better results.

TIRAP rs8177374 gene polymorphism increased the risk of pulmonary tuberculosis in Zahedan,southeast Iran

Objective:To evaluate the possible association between Toll-interleukin 1 receptor(TIR) domain containing adaptor protein(TIRAP;also known as MAI.) rsl893352 and rs8l77374(S180L) gene polymorphisms and pulmonary tuberculosis(PTB) in a sample of Iranian ***:This case-control study was performed on 174 PTB and 177 healthy *** amplification refractory mutation systetn-polymerase chain reaction(T-AKMS-PCR) was used to detect the ***:Our finding showed that neither the overall Ckisqaare comparison of PTB and control subjects nor the logistic regression analysis indicated any association between rsl893352 polymorphism and *** rs8l77374 polymorphism,the CT genotype as well as CT+TT increased the risk of PTB in comparison with CC genotype(OR=4.73,95%CI=2.65-8.45,P<0.0001 and OR=6.47,95%C1=3.68-11.38,P<***).The rs8177374 T allele increased the risk of PTB in comparison with C allele(OR=4.21.95%CI=2.43-7.26,P<0.0001).Conclusions:Our finding indicates that TIRAP rs8177374 polymorphism is associated with PTB in a sample of Iranian population.

Kinetics of chemical leaching of chalcopyrite from low grade copper ore: behavior of different size fractions

The kinetics of the chemical leaching of copper from low grade ore in ferric sulfate media was investigated using the constrained least square optimization technique. The experiments were carried out for different particle sizes in both the reactor and column at constant oxidation-reduction potential （Eh）, pH values, and temperature. The main copper mineral was chalcopyrite. About 40% of Cu recovery is obtained after 7 d of reactor leaching at 85℃ using -0.5 mm size fraction, while the same recovery is obtained at 75℃ after 24 d. Also, about 23% of Cu recovery is obtained after 60 d of column leaching for ＋4--8 mm size fraction whereas the Cu recovery is as low as about 15% for ＋8--12.7 and ＋12.7--25 mm size fractions. A 4-stage model for chalcopyrite dissolution was used to explain the observed dissolution behaviors. The results show that thick over-layers of sulphur components cause the parabolic behavior of chalcopyrite dissolution and the precipitation of Fe3＋ plays the main role in chalcopyrite passivation. In the case of coarse particles, transformation from one stage to another takes a longer time, thus only two stages including the initial reaction on fresh surfaces and S0 deposition are observed.

Geochemistry and Depositional Setting of Fort Munro Formation,Middle and Lower Indus Basins,Pakistan

Fort Munro Formation represents the products of the Upper Cretaceous (Maastrichtian) in the middle and lower Indus basins. The formation is exposed in the Rakhi Nala (Sulaiman Range), Bara Nala (Lakhi Range) and Naka Pabni (Southern Pab Range) areas. Major and trace elemental geochemistry and petrographic studies of the formation have been carried out to understand the facies trends in the middle and lower Indus basins. A high amount of acid-insoluble fraction, Ca/Mg and Mg vs. Ca/Sr ratio reveal that the formation was deposited in a shallow marine regressive environment. High amounts of clastic reflect abundant influx of terrigenous materials from the east (Indian craton) and west (Bibai volcanic). High Sr content indicates that aragonite was the precursor mineral, which was transformed into stable low-Mg calcite during diagenesis. Enrichment of Cu and Zn contents in the samples of the formation implies the influence of volcanic activity and that they were incorporated into the calcite lattice in the late phase.
