Sodium tanshinone IIA sulfonate attenuates cardiac dysfunction and improves survival of rats with cecal ligation and puncture-induced sepsis

Cardiac dysfunction, a common consequence of sepsis, is the major contribution to morbidity and mortality in patients. Sodium tanshinone IIA sulfonate(STS) is a water-soluble derivative of Tanshinone IIA(TA), a main active component of Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge, which has been widely used in China for the treatment of cardiovascular and cerebral system diseases. In the present study, the effect of STS on sepsis-induced cardiac dysfunction was investigated and its effect on survival rate of rats with sepsis was also evaluated. STS treatment could significantly decrease the serum levels of C-reactive protein(CRP), procalcitonin(PCT), cardiac troponin Ⅰ(cTn-Ⅰ), cardiac troponin T(cTn-T), and brain natriuretic peptide(BNP) in cecal ligation and puncture(CLP)-induced) septic rats and improve left ventricular function, particularly at 48 and 72 h after CLP. As the pathogenesis of septic myocardial dysfunction is attributable to dysregulated systemic inflammatory responses, several key cytokines, including tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α), interleukin-1β(IL-1β), interleukin-6(IL-6), interleukin-10(IL-10) and high mobility group protein B1(HMGB1), were detected to reveal the possible mechanism of attenuation of septic myocardial dysfunction after being treated by STS. Our study showed that STS, especially at a high dose(15 mg×kg–1), could efficiently suppress inflammatory responses in myocardium and reduce myocardial necrosis through markedly reducing production of myocardial TNF-α, IL-6 and HMGB1. STS significantly improved the 18-day survival rate of rats with sepsis from 0% to 30%(P < 0.05). Therefore, STS could suppress inflammatory responses and improve left ventricular function in rats with sepsis, suggesting that it may be developed for the treatment of sepsis.

Objective To investigate the mechanism of Radix Kansui(RK)stir-fried with vinegar(VRK)decreased hepatotoxicity in *** According to a random number table,40 mice were randomly divided into negative control group(0.5%carboxymethylcellulose sodium,20 mL/kg),positive control group(0.1%mixture of carbon tetrachloride in soybean oil,20 mL/kg),RK group(the ethyl acetate extracts of RK,250 g crude drug/kg)and VRK group(the ethyl acetate extracts of VRK,250 g crude drug/kg)with 10 mice per *** mice were administered orally by gavage daily for 7 continuous *** morphology of liver tissues was examined to assess the liver injury by a transmission electron *** apoptosis in vivo was determined by terminal deoxynucleotidyltransferase-mediated dUTP-biotin nickend labeling(TUNEL)*** technique was adopted to detect the expression of particular antiapoptotic and proapoptotic proteins in the mitochondrial pathways,including B-cell lymphoma(Bcl-2)and caspase-3,as well as the expression of inflammatory mediators,including nuclear factor kappa B(NF-κB)and intercellular adhesion molecule-1(ICAM-1).Results Liver injury and hepatocyte apoptosis were observed in RK mice,and the liver injury were significantly reduced in VRK-treated *** immunohistochemistry study,compared with the negative control group,RK inhibited dramatically the Bcl-2 protein expression and significantly increased the expression of caspase-3,NF-κB and ICAM-1(all P<0.01).Compared with the RK group,VRK group induced significant increase on Bcl-2 protein expression,and decreased the caspase-3,NF-κB and ICAM-1 protein expression(P<0.05 or <0.01).Conclusion The mechanism of reduced hepatotoxicity of VRK may be associated with the reduced inflammation,regulation of antiapoptotic and proapoptotic mediators in the mitochondrial pathway.

Hybrid tri-memristor hyperchaotic map and application in Wasserstein Generative Adversarial Nets

Experimental investigation on using CO_(2)/H_(2)O emulsion with high water cut in enhanced oil recovery

CO_(2) emulsions used for EOR have received a lot of interest because of its good performance on CO_(2)mobility ***,most of them have been focusing on the high quality CO_(2) emulsion(high CO_(2) fraction),while CO_(2) emulsion with high water cut has been rarely *** this paper,we carried out a comprehensive experimental study of using high water cut CO_(2)/H_(2)O emulsion for enhancing oil ***,a nonionic surfactant,alkyl glycosides(APG),was selected to stabilize CO_(2)/H_(2)O emulsion,and the corresponding morphology and stability were evaluated with a transparent PVT ***,plugging capacity and apparent viscosity of CO_(2)/H_(2)O emulsion were measured systematically by a sand pack displacement apparatus connected with a 1.95-m long capillary ***,a high water cut(40 vol%) CO_(2)/H_(2)O emulsion was selected for flooding experiments in a long sand pack and a core sample,and the oil recovery,the rate of oil recovery,and the pressure gradients were *** results indicated that APG had a good performance on emulsifying and stabilizing CO_(2) *** inversion from H_(2)O/CO_(2) emulsion to CO_(2)/H_(2)O emulsion with the increase in water cut was ***_(2)/H_(2)O emulsions with lower water cuts presented higher apparent viscosity,while the optimal plugging capacity of CO_(2)/H_(2)O emulsion occurred at a certain water ***,the displacement using CO_(2)/H_(2)O emulsion provided 18.98% and 13.36% additional oil recovery than that using pure CO_(2) in long sand pack and core tests,*** work may provide guidelines for EOR using CO_(2) emulsions with high water cut.

Effect of Mo and cold forging deformation on strength and ductility of cobalt-based alloy L605

Mo element was added to cobalt-based alloy L605,and cold forging deformation was *** effects of the addition and cold forging deformation on the microstructure and mechanical properties of the alloy were studied by thermodynamic calculation,electron backscatter diffraction,transmission electron microscopy,and X-ray *** stacking fault energy(SFE)of the alloy decreased after the addition,and the formation of stacking faults and intersections were promoted to improve the strength and *** tensile strength of the alloy with Mo increased from 1190 to 1702 MPa after 24%cold deformation,producing significant work *** strengthening mechanism is strain-induced martensitic transformation(SIMT)and deformation *** alloy,combined with Mo and after 24%deformation,had both high strength and ductility in comparison with the original cobalt-based alloy *** is attributed to the lower SFE which caused the increase in stacking fault *** the tensile process,theε-hcp phase was easily generated at the stacking fault to reduce the stress concentration and increase the *** SIMT by adjusting the density of stacking faults can improve the mechanical properties of cobalt-based ***ε-hcp phase,the interaction between deformation twins and dislocations,and the interaction between e-hcp phases during cold forging deformation caused local stress concentration,lowering ductility and toughness.

Ultra-efficient and parameter-free computation of submicron thermal transport with phonon Boltzmann transport equation

Understanding thermal transport at the submicron scale is crucial for engineering applications,especially in the thermal management of electronics and tailoring the thermal conductivity of thermoelectric *** the submicron scale,the macroscopic heat diffusion equation is no longer valid and the phonon Boltzmann transport equation(BTE)becomes the governing equation for thermal ***,previous thermal simulations based on the phonon BTE have two main limitations:relying on empirical parameters and prohibitive computational ***,the phonon BTE is commonly used for qualitatively studying the non-Fourier thermal transport phenomena of toy *** this work,we demonstrate an ultra-efficient and parameter-free computational method of the phonon BTE to achieve quantitatively accurate thermal simulation for realistic materials and *** properly integrating the phonon properties from first-principles calculations,our method does not rely on empirical material properties *** can be generally applicable for different materials and the predicted results can match well with experimental ***,by developing a suitable ensemble of advanced numerical algorithms,our method exhibits superior numerical *** full-scale(from ballistic to diffusive)thermal simulation of a 3-dimensional fin field-effect transistor with 13 million degrees of freedom,which is prohibitive for existing phonon BTE solvers even on supercomputers,can now be completed within two hours on a single personal *** method makes it possible to achieve the predictive design of realistic nanostructures for the desired thermal *** also enables accurately resolving the temperature profiles at the transistor level,which helps in better understanding the self-heating effect of electronics.

Postoperative body weight change and its influencing factors in patients with gastric cancer

BACKGROUND The high incidence and mortality of gastric cancer(GC)pose a significant threat to human life and health,and it has become an important public health challenge in *** weight loss is a common complication after surgical treatment in patients with GC and is associated with poor prognosis and GC ***,current attention to postoperative weight change in GC patients remains insufficient,and the descriptions of postoperative weight change and its influencing factors are also *** To investigate body weight changes in patients with GC within 6 mo after gastrectomy and identify factors that influence dynamic body weight *** We conducted a prospective longitudinal study of 121 patients with GC and collected data before(T0)and 1(T1),3(T2),and 6(T3)mo after gastrectomy using a general data questionnaire,psychological distress thermometer,and body weight *** general estimation equation(GEE)was used to analyze the dynamic trends of body weight changes and factors that influence body weight changes in patients with GC within 6 mo of *** The median weight loss at T1,T2,and T3 was 7.29%(2.84%,9.40%),11.11%(7.64%,14.91%),and 14.75%(8.80%,19.84%),*** GEE results showed that preoperative body mass index(BMI),significant psychological distress,religious beliefs,and sex were risk factors for weight loss in patients with GC within 6 mo after gastrectomy(P<0.05).Compared with preoperative low-weight patients,preoperative obese patients were more likely to have weight loss(β=14.685,P<0.001).Furthermore,patients with significant psychological distress were more likely to lose weight than those without(β=2.490,P<0.001),and religious patients were less likely to lose weight 6 mo after gastrectomy than those without religious beliefs(β=-6.844,P=0.001).Compared to female patients,male patients were more likely to experience weight loss 6 mo after gastrectomy(β=4.262,P=0.038).CONCLUSION Male patients wi
