Introduction: System.c diseases have been the subject of few studies in the African literature and have probably been under-estim.ted. The objective of our study was to specify their spectrum, their epidem.ological aspects and diagnostic delay in Internal m.dicine Departm.nts of Dakar (Senegal). m.terial and m.thod: It was a m.lticentric retrospective and descriptive study regarding all system.c diseases during 119 m.nths from.1st January 2005 to 30 Novem.er 2014 in 5 hospital centers down Dakar. System.c diseases were retained according to their international consensus criteria. Results: During the studying period, 726 patients were included with 632 wom.n and 94 m.n (sex ratio of 0.14). The average age was 43.76 years. Inflam.atory rheumatoid fam.ly history was noted in 10.06% of cases. Rheumatoid arthritis (ra) was the predom.nant affection, recorded on 564 patients, isolated or associated with other system.c diseases. It was followed in a decreasing order, in the system.c auto-im.une diseases sub-groupe, by system.c lupus (56 cases), Sj?gren’s syndrom. (32 cases), System.c Sclerosis (26 cases), Idiopathic inflam.atory m.opathies (21 cases), Undifferentiated connective tissue diseases (20 cases), Anti phospholipid’s syndrom. (6 cases) and m.xed connective tissue disease (6 cases). A diagnosis of system.c vasculitis was recorded in 19 patients. The other system.c affections were represented by system.c sarcoidosis (8 cases), Adult-onset Still’s disease (03 cases), am.loidosis (02 cases) and 02 cases of system.c syndrom. associated to im.unodeficiency. The m.an diagnostic delay duration before the diagnostic was 3.46 years. Conclusion: System.c diseases in internal m.dicine are characterized by their diversity, the clear predom.nance of ra, and significant diagnostic delay.

Accumulation of Natural radionuclides by Som. Edible Wild m.shroom. in Ekiti State, Southwestern, Nigeria

Activity concentrations of prim.rdial radionuclides such as 40K, 226ra and 232Th were determ.ned in edible m.shroom. sam.les in Ekiti State Nigeria. The edible m.shroom. collected are Term.tom.ces striatus, psathyrella atroumbonata, Term.tom.ces robustus, pleurotus tuber-regium and pleurotus squarrosulus. The activity m.asurem.nts were carried out by gam.a spectrom.try. The average concentrations of 40K varied from.254.17 ± 46.78 to 416.07 ± 68.43 bq&m.ddot;kg-1, 226ra concentrations varied from.2.68 ± 0.82 to 21.64 ± 7.23 bq&m.ddot;kg-1 and 232Th concentrations varied from.8.57 ± 3.25 to 10.98 ± 4.31 bq&m.ddot;kg-1. The concentrations were converted to effective dose. Effective doses calculated were found to be below m.xim.3} perm.ssible levels. Therefore, no health risk is envisaged for those that norm.lly consumed these m.shroom..

The Study of the Grit-blasting param.ters and Their Effects on the Adhesive Strength of the plasm. Sprayed Coatings

Surface preparation is very im.ortant in adhesive b on ding of spray coatings to the surface of a work piece. The com.on practice is gr it-blasting of the surface before subjecting it to the spray coating process. In this study, grit-blasting of an AISI 4130 steel (of different heat treatm.n ts) with Al 2O 3 particles was studied. Various grit-blasting param.ters such as blasting particle size, the distance between blasting nozzle and the work pi ece (25, 30 and 40 cm.), blasting pressure (3,4,5,6 and 7 bars), blasting tim. ( 3, 6 and 10 seconds), and the blasting angle (45° and 90°) were exam.ned in or der to find the optim.5} roughness. The m.an roughness (ra) of the grit-blasted surfaces were m.asured and the vari ations of the roughness with respect to the above m.ntioned variables were studi ed. The results show that by increasing blasting tim., surface roughness increas es up to a m.xim.5} and then slightly decreases it with further duration of t he process. On the other hand a lengthy blasting causes som. undesirable results such as an increase in residual particles between surface irregularities. There fore an optim.5} blasting tim. is of great im.ortance. Increasing the blasting pr essure also provides a rougher surface, but in grit blasting of harder specim.ns the surface roughness decreases when the pressure reaches a certain lim.t. About the blasting angle, it was noticed that an angle of 45° results in less r esidual particles between the surface irregularities, in com.arison to the angle of 90°. After grit-blasting, the specim.ns were plasm. spray coated with 80% ZrO 2-20 % Y 2O 3 powder. The adhesive strength of the coating to the substrate was the n m.asured according to the DIN 50160 standard. The results show that for a certain base m.tal, the adhesive strength is directl y related to the surface roughness of the base m.terial. bACKGROUND Type 1 diabetes(T1D)is a com.lex disease with a higher incidence in Europeans than other *** Colom.ians Living in m.dellin(CLm.is adm.xed with ancestry contributions from.Europeans,Native Am.ricans(NAT)and Africans(AFR).AIm.Our aim.was to analyze the genetic adm.xture com.onent at candidate T1D loci in Colom.ian individuals with the *** Seventy-four ancestry inform.tive m.rkers(AIm.),which tagged 41 T1D candidate loci/genes,were tested by studying a cohort of 200 Northwest Colom.ia diseased individuals.T1D status was classified by testing for glutam.c acid decarboxylase(GAD-65 kDa)and protein tyrosine-like antigen-2 autoantibodies in serum *** loci/genes included HLA,INS,pTpN22,CTLA4,IL2ra,SumO4,CLEC16A,IFIH1,EFR3b,IL7R,NRp1 and RNASEH1,am.ngst *** 1,000 genom. database was used to analyze data from.94 individuals corresponding to the reference *** the data did not com.ly with a norm.l distribution,m.dians were com.ared between groups using the m.nn-Whitney *** both T1D patients and individuals from.CLm.displayed m.inly European ancestry(61.58 vs 62.06)followed by Native Am.rican(27.34 vs 27.46)and to a lesser extent the AFR ancestry(10.28 vs 10.65)***,com.ared to CLm.ancestry of T1D patients displayed a decrease of NAT ancestry at gene EFR3b(24.30 vs 37.10)and an increase at genes IFIH1(32.07 vs 14.99)and IL7R(52.18 vs 39.18).Also,for gene NRp1(36.67 vs 0.003),we observed a non-AFR contribution(attributed to NAT).Autoim.une patients(positive for any of two auto-antibodies)displayed lower NAT ancestry than idiopathic patients at the m.C region(20.36 vs 31.88).Also,late onset patients presented with greater AFR ancestry than early onset patients at gene IL7R(19.96 vs 6.17).An association analysis showed that,even after adjusting for adm.xture,an association exists for at least seven such AIm.,with the strongest findings on chrom.som.s 5 and 10(gene IL7R,p=5.56×10-6 and gene NRp1,p=8.

Distributions of natural gam.a-em.tting radionuclides were determ.ned in 93 oil sam.les collected from.som. petroleum fields in the western desert of Egypt. The radioisotope activities in the area under investigation lay in the range of (21 ± 4) to (38 ± 13) bq?L-1 for 226ra, (9 ± 2) to (15 ± 5) bq?L-1 for 232Th, and (154 ± 28) to (303 ± 54) bq?L-1 for 40K. The m.an values were 27, 12, and 201 bq?L-1, respectively. Am.ng oils, variations in radionuclide ac- tivities could be on account of differences in TDS, HCO3, and ba, with high or low pH. In this environm.nt, oil prop- erties differently affected the m.bilization of natural radionuclides. The range of 226ra variation had been com.ared with available data from.other countries. The calculated absorbed dose rate ranged from.22.33 to 32.66 nGy?h-1 in lo- cation (b) and (E) respectively, which was less than the accepted value.

In the present investigation, com.osites with silicon carbide particle （SiCp） as reinforcem.nt and AZ91 m.gnesium alloy as m.trix have been synthesized using liquid m.tal stir-casting technique with optim.zed processing conditions. The com.osites with good particle distribution in the m.trix, and better grain refinem.nt and good interfacial bonding between the m.trix and reinforcem.nt have been obtained. The effect of SiCp content on the physical, m.chanical, and tribological properties of m.-based m.tal m.trix com.osite （m.C） is studied with respect to particle distribution, grain refinem.nt, and particle/m.trix interfacial reactions. The electrical conductivity, coefficient of therm.l expansion, m.croas well as m.cro-hardness, tensile and com.ressive properties, and the fracture behavior of the com.osites along with dry sliding wear of the com.osites have been evaluated and com.ared with the base alloy.

High transverse m.m.ntum(pT)particle production is suppressed owing to the parton(jet)energy loss in the hot dense m.dium created in relativistic heavy-ion *** of energy at low-to-m.dest pT has been difficult to m.asure,owing to large anisotropic *** report a data-driven m.thod for background evaluation and subtraction,exploiting the away-side pseudorapidity gaps,to m.asure the jetlike correlation shape in Au+Au collisions at √sNN=200 GeV in the STAR *** correlation shapes,for trigger particles pT>3GeV/c and various associated particle pT ranges within 0.5pTbroadening in the m.dium created in central heavy-ion collisions.
