Efficacy of adjuvant mitomycin-C and triamcinoloneimpregnated nasal packing for endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy

●AIM:To compare the success rate and complications of adjuvant use of mitomycin C and triamcinoloneimpregnated biodegradable nasal packing(TAbP)in endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy(DCR).And to evaluate the efficacy of combining intraoperative mitomycin C and TAbP for endoscopic DCR.●METHODS:A total of 198 eyes of 148 patients who underwent endoscopic DCR for acquired nasolacrimal duct obstruction were retrospectively *** patients were randomly divided into three groups:Group A included patients treated without intraoperative mitomycin C but with TAbP,Group b included patients treated without triamcinolone but with intraoperative mitomycin C and normal saline-impregnated nasal packing,and Group C included patients treated with intraoperative mitomycin C and TAbP.●RESULTS:The results revealed no significant difference in the overall success rates between Groups A(86.8%)and b(89.2%;P=0.377).However,Group C(97.5%)showed a significantly higher overall success rate than Groups A and *** incidence of granulomas was significantly lower in group C(5%)than in Groups A(20.8%)and b(15.2%;P=0.009).Other complications,such as crust,synechiae,and revision surgery,did not differ significantly among the three groups.●CONCLUSION:The combination of intraoperative mitomycin C and TAbP effectively prevents granulomas and enhances surgical success ***,there is no statistically significant difference observed between the use of mitomycin C or TAbP alone.

Systematic optimization of the photocatalyst and investigation of the role of each component is important to maximizing catalytic activity and comprehending the photocatalytic conversion of CO_(2) reduction to solar fuels.A surface-modified Ag@Ru-P25 photocatalyst with H_(2)O_(2) treatment was designed in this study to convert CO_(2) and H_(2)O vapor into highly selective *** doping followed by Ag nanoparticles(NPs)cocatalyst deposition on P25(TiO_(2))enhances visible light absorption and charge separation,whereas H_(2)O_(2) treatment modifies the surface of the photocatalyst with hydroxyl(–OH)groups and promotes CO_(2) ***-resonance transmission electron microscopy,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,X-ray absorption near-edge structure,and extended X-ray absorption fine structure techniques were used to analyze the surface and chemical composition of the photocatalyst,while thermogravimetric analysis,CO_(2) adsorption isotherm,and temperature programmed desorption study were performed to examine the significance of H_(2)O_(2) treatment in increasing CO_(2) reduction *** optimized Ag1.0@Ru1.0-P25 photocatalyst performed excellent CO_(2) reduction activity into CO,CH4,and C2H6 with a~95%selectivity of CH4,where the activity was~135 times higher than that of pristine TiO_(2)(P25).For the first time,this work explored the effect of H_(2)O_(2) treatment on the photocatalyst that dramatically increases CO_(2) reduction activity.

During the rapid spread of COVID-19,first responders are at risk of being exposed to COVID-19 due to their role in providing first aid and responding to an unspecified number of *** uncertainty can have adverse mental health effects,such as increased anxiety and *** study aimed to investigate the degree of association between fear of COVID-19,obsession with COVID-19,and post-traumatic stress disorder(PTSD)in emergency rescue *** participants were 150 emergency rescue firefighters working in Region S,*** filled out self-report questionnaires:The data obtained through the Fear of COVID-19 Scale,Obsession with COVID-19 Scale,and Impact of Event Scale-Revised korean version were subjected to nonparametric statistical analysis using SPSS WIN *** study found a significant correlation between emergency rescue firefighters’fear of COVID-19,obsession with COVID-19,and *** and obsession with COVID-19 were higher among first responder firefighters who were directly involved in COVID-19-related ***,a one-point increase in obsession was associated with a 2.837-point increase in *** on the results,we found that there is a need for effective control of obsessions and fears among first responder firefighters during COVID-19,and we suggest that there is a need for mental health care for first responder firefighters during the pandemic through the development and support of programs to prevent and mitigate obsessions.

Achieving highly regioselective synthesis in organic chemistry is challenging due to the uncontrollable orientation between reacting *** electric fields(EEFs)can influence the reactivity and selectivity of the substrate by causing directional ***,scalable and efficient techniques for using EEFs as“smart catalysts”have been lacking,hindering their *** this study,we present a novel method for modifying the regioselectivity of quinoxaline-2(1H)-ones by functionalizing their C7-position using the electric double layer(EDL)*** approach led to moderate to good yields of the corresponding C7-thiocyanation *** calculations and control experiments demonstrated that EEFs could reverse the regioselectivity of quinoxaline-2(1H)-ones,allowing the C7-thiocyanation to proceed via a radical reaction ***,the resulting 7-thiocyano-1-methylquinoxaline-2(1H)-ones exhibited promising AIE *** work showcases a promising strategy for achieving highly regioselective functionalization by aligning the electric field with the desired reaction/bond axis.

The development of superconducting joining technology for reacted magnesium diboride(Mgb_(2))conductors remains a critical challenge for the advancement of cryogen-free Mgb_(2)-based magnets for magnetic resonance imaging(MRI).Herein,the fabrication of superconducting joints using reacted carbon-doped multifilament Mgb_(2)wires for MRI magnets is *** achieve successful superconducting joints,the powder-in-mold method was employed,which involved tuning the filament protection mechanism,the powder compaction pressure,and the heat treatment *** fabricated joints demonstrated clear superconducting-to-normal transitions in self-field,with effective magnetic field screening up to 0.5 T at 20 *** evaluate the interface between one of the Mgb_(2)filaments and the Mgb_(2)bulk within the joint,serial sectioning was conducted for the first time in this type of superconducting *** serial sectioning revealed space formation at the interface,potentially caused by the volume shrinkage associated with the Mgb_(2)formation or the combined effect of the volume shrinkage and the different thermal expansion coefficients of the Mgb_(2)bulk,the filament,the mold,and the sealing *** findings are expected to be pivotal in developing Mgb_(2)superconducting joining technology for MRI magnet applications through interface engineering.
