A proposed surface resistance model for the Penman-Monteith formula to estimate evapotranspiration in a solar greenhouse

Greenhousing is a technique to bridge season gap in vegetable production and has been widely used worldwide. Calculation of water requirement of crops grown in greenhouse and determination of their irrigation schedules in arid and semi-arid regions are essential for greenhouse maintenance and have thus attracted increased attention over the past decades. The most common method used in the literature to estimate crop evapotranspiration（ET） is the Penman-Monteith（PM） formula. When applied to greenhouse, however, it often uses canopy resistance instead of surface resistance. It is understood that the surface resistance in greenhouse is the result of a combined effect of canopy restriction and soil-surface restriction to water vapor flow, and the relative dominance of one restriction over another depends on crop canopy. In this paper, we developed a surface resistance model in a way similar to two parallel resistances in an electrical circuit to account for both restrictions. Also, considering that wind speed in greenhouse is normally rather small, we compared three methods available in the literature to calculate the aerodynamic resistance, which are the r_a^1 method proposed by Perrier（1975a, b）, the r_a^2 method proposed by Thom and Oliver（1977）, and the r_a^3 method proposed by Zhang and Lemeu（1992）. We validated the model against ET of tomatoes in a greenhouse measured from sap flow system combined with micro-lysimeter in 2015 and with weighing lysimeter in 2016. The results showed that the proposed surface resistance model improved the accuracy of the PM model, especially when the leaf area index was low and the greenhouse was being irrigated. We also found that the aerodynamic resistance calculated from the r_a^1 and r_a^3 methods is applicable to the greenhouse although the latter is slightly more accurate than the former. We fabricated a silver ion emitter based on the solid state electrolyte film of RbAg4 I5 prepared by pulsed laser deposition. The RbAg4 I5 target for PLD process was mechano-chemically synthesized by high-energy ball milling in Ar atmosphere using β-AgI and RbI as raw materials. The ion-conducting properties of RbAg4 I5 were studied by alternating current(AC) impedance spectroscopy and the ionic conductivity at room temperature was estimated 0.21 S/m. The structure, morphology, and elemental composition of the RbAg4 I5 film were investigated. The Ag+ ion-conducting property of the prepared superioni-conductor film was exploited for ion–beam generation. The temperature and accelerating voltage dependences of the ion current were studied. Few nA current was obtained at the temperature of 196?C and the accelerating voltage of 10 kV.

以新乡市1970—2011年逐日实测气象资料代入FAO 56 Penman-Monteith（PM）方法算得的ET0作为基准值,对HG、P-T、M-k、M-C模型进行参数修正,将新乡市2012—2014年冬小麦生育期间预见期为1、3、5、7、10d的天气预报数据代入修正后的模型进行ET01～10 d的中短期预报,并以2012—2014年冬小麦生育期间逐日实测气象资料由PM公式算得的ET0为基准值,对天气预报的精度及ET0的预报精度进行评价。结果表明：经过参数修正后HG、P-T、M-k、M-C模型的精度均有提高;最高气温、最低气温、风速、日照时数的预报精度均随预见期的增加呈逐渐下降趋势,最低气温预报的精度稍高于最高气温;不同预见期的ET0预报模型中,P-T模型预报的ET0平均准确率在众模型中较高（95.06%）,其次为HG-M模型（94.66%）、PMT1模型（94.34%）、M-k模型（93.89%）,且P-T、HGM两种模型计算程序较简单,因此优选P-T、HG-M模型进行ET0的中短期预报。

Induced systemic resistance(ISR)is a mechanism by which certain plant beneficial rhizobacteria and fungi produce immunity,which can stimulate crop growth and resilience against various phytopathogens,insects,and *** beneficial rhizobacteria and fungi improve plant performance by regulating hormone signaling,including salicylic acid(SA),jasmonic acid(JA),prosystemin,pathogenesis-related gene 1,and ethylene(ET)pathways,which activate the gene expression of ISR,the synthesis of secondary metabolites,various enzymes,and volatile compounds that ultimately induce defense mechanisms in *** protect themselves from disease,plants have various advanced defense mechanisms in which local acquired resistance,systemic gene silencing,systemic wound response,systemic acquired resistance(SAR),and ISR are *** rhizobacteria activate the SA-dependent SAR pathway by producing SA at the root’s *** contrast,other rhizobacteria can activate different signaling pathways independent of SA(SA-independent ISR pathways)such as those dependent on JA and ET *** main objective of this review is to provide insight into the types of induced resistance utilized for plant *** to this,the genetic approaches used to suppress disease-causing genes,i.e.,RNA interference and antisense RNA,which are still underutilized in sustainable agriculture,along with the current vision for virus-induced gene silencing are also discussed.

Time-series analysis of monthly rainfall data for the Mahanadi River basin, India

Time series analysis has two goals, modeling random mechanisms and predicting future series using historical data. In the present work, a uni-variate time series autoregressive integrated moving average （ARIMA） model has been developed for （a） simulating and forecasting mean rainfall, obtained using Theissen weights; over the Mahanadi River basin in India, and （b） simula^ag and forecasting mean rainfall at 38 rain-gauge stations in district towns across the basin. For the analysis, monthly rainfall data of each district town for the years 1901-2002 （102 years） were used. Theissen weights were obtained over the basin and mean monthly rainfall was estimated. The trend and seasonality observed in ACF and PACF plots of rainfall data were removed using power transformation （a=0.5） and first order seasonal differencing prior to the development of the ARIMA model. Interestingly, the AR1MA model （1,0,0）（0,1,1）12 developed here was found to be most suitable for simulating and forecasting mean rainfall over the Mahanadi River basin and for all 38 district town rain-gauge stations, separately. The Akaike Information Criterion （AIC）, good- ness of fit （Chi-square）, R2 （coefficient of determination）, MSE （mean square error） and MAE （mea absolute error） were used to test the validity and applicability of the developed ARIMA model at different stages. This model is considered appropriate to forecast the monthly rainfall for the upcoming 12 years in each district town to assist decision makers and policy makers establish priorities for water demand, storage, distribution, and disaster management.

Cardiovascular complications following medical termination of pregnancy: An updated review

bACkGROUND Around 1 million cases of medical termination of pregnancy(MTP)take place yearly in the United States of America with around 2 percent of this population developing *** cardiovascular(CVD)complications occurring post MTP or after stillbirth is not very well *** To help the reader better understand,prepare,and manage these complications by reviewing various cardiac comorbidities seen after *** We performed a literature search in PubMed,Medline,RCA,and google scholar,using the search terms“abortions”or“medical/legal termination of pregnancy”and“cardiac complications”or“cardiovascular complications”.RESULTS The most common complications described in the literature following MTP were infective endocarditis(IE)(n=16),takotsubo cardiomyopathy(TTC)(n=7),arrhythmias(n=5),and sudden coronary artery dissection(SCAD)(n=4).The most common valve involved in IE was the tricuspid valve in 69%(n=10).The most observed causative organism was group b Streptococcus in 81%(n=12).The most common type of TTC was apical type in 57%(n=4).Out of five patients de veloping arrhythmia,bradycardia was the most common and was seen in 60%(3/5)of the *** four cases of SCAD-P type presented as acute coronary syndrome 10-14 d post termination of pregnancy with predominant involvement of the right coronary *** was only reported following IE in 6.25%.Clinical recovery was reported consistently after optimal medical management following all these *** In conclusion,the occurrence of CVD complications following pregnancy termination is infrequently documented in the existing *** this review,the most common CVD complication following MTP was noted to be IE and TTC.
