bACKGROUND: Sepsis, a common acute and critical disease, leads to 11 million deaths annually worldwide. Probiotics are living microorganisms that are beneficial to the host and may benefit sepsis outcomes, but their effects are stil inconclusive. This study aimed to evaluate the overal eff ect of probiotics on the prognosis of patients with *** RESOURCES: We searched several sources for published/presented studies, including Pub Med, EMbASE, Web of Science, the Cochrane Library and the US National Library of Medicine Clinical Trials Register(***) updated through July 30, 2023, to identify all relevant randomized controlled trials(RCTs) or observational studies that assessed the effectiveness of probiotics or synbiotics in patients with sepsis and reported mortality. We focused primarily on mortality during the study period and analyzed secondary outcomes, including 28-day mortality, in-intensive care unit(ICU) mortality and other ***: Data from 405 patients in five RCTs and 108 patients in one cohort study were included in the analysis. The overall quality of the studies was satisfactory, but clinical heterogeneity existed. All adult studies reported a tendency for probiotics to reduce the mortality of patients with sepsis, and most studies reported a decreasing trend in the incidence of infectious complications, length of ICU stay and duration of antibiotic use. There was only one RCT involving ***: Probiotics show promise for improving the prognosis of patients with sepsis, including reducing mortality and the incidence of infectious complications, particularly in adult patients. Despite the limited number of studies, especially in children, these findings will be encouraging for clinical practice in the treatment of sepsis and suggest that gut microbiota-targeted therapy may improve the prognosis of patients with sepsis.

The unique three-dimensional orthorhombic NbS(o-NbS)compound synthesized in 1969 has recently been experimentally confirmed to be a superconductor[***.b 108174517(2023)].However,there is currently no theoretical research on its superconducting *** this work,we investigate the superconducting properties of o-Nb S from first-principles *** on the Eliashberg equation,it is found that the superconductivity mainly originates from the coupling between the electrons of Nb-4d orbitals and the vibrations of Nb atoms in the low-frequency region and those of S atoms in the high-frequency region.A superconducting transition temperature(T_c)of 10.7 K is obtained,which is close to the experimental value and higher than most transition metal chalcogenides(TMCs).The calculated thermodynamic properties in the superconducting state,such as specific heat,energy gap,isotope coefficient,etc.,also indicate that o-NbS is a conventional phonon-mediated *** results are consistent with recent experimental reports and provide a good understanding of the superconducting mechanism of o-Nb ***,the TMCs of o-TaS and o-WS are also investigated;these belong to the same and neighboring groups of Nb,and we find that o-TaS and o-WS are also phonon-mediated superconductors with T_c of 8.9 K and 7.2 K,respectively.

background:Resilience is crucial for medical college students to thrive in the highly stressful environment of medical ***,the prevalence of problematic internet use(PIU)in this population may negatively impact their *** study investigated the influence of problematic online gaming(PG)and problematic social media use(PSMU)on the resilience of medical college students in ***:A sample of 5075 first-year medical college students from four Chinese universities was *** served as the independent variable,resilience as the dependent variable,fatigue as the mediator,and PSMU as the *** equation modeling was conducted using LISREL ***,a moderated mediation model was evaluated using the jAMM module in jamovi ***:The study’s findings revealed significant negative correlations between resilience and the variables of PG,PSMU,and *** mediated the relationship between PG and resilience(b=−0.04,95%CI=[−0.05,−0.03]).PSMU moderated the direct relationship between PG and resilience with the interaction term PG×PSMU significant(b=−0.004,t=−6.501,pb=0.055,t=8.351,pluded that addressing PIU,particularly PG,is essential for fostering resilience in medical college *** PSMU itself is maladaptive,the underlying social media engagement may serve a protective role through social support in mitigating the adverse effects of PG on resilience.

Imputation of missing data has long been an important topic and an essential application for intelligent transportation systems(ITS) in the real world. As a state-of-the-art generative model, the diffusion model has proven highly successful in image generation, speech generation, time series modelling *** now opens a new avenue for traffic data imputation. In this paper, we propose a conditional diffusion model, called the implicit-explicit diffusion model, for traffic data imputation. This model exploits both the implicit and explicit feature of the data simultaneously. More specifically, we design two types of feature extraction modules, one to capture the implicit dependencies hidden in the raw data at multiple time scales and the other to obtain the long-term temporal dependencies of the time series. This approach not only inherits the advantages of the diffusion model for estimating missing data, but also takes into account the multiscale correlation inherent in traffic data. To illustrate the performance of the model, extensive experiments are conducted on three real-world time series datasets using different missing *** experimental results demonstrate that the model improves imputation accuracy and generalization capability.

Intestinal oxidation-reduction balance is essential to protect host *** on the underlying mechanisms of oxidation homeostasis can provide conditions to the treatment or protection of intestinal oxidative ***,the mechanism of polysaccharide(MbP)with alkali-extracted from mung bean skin in alleviating oxidative damage induced by H_(2)O_(2)-induced in intestinal epithelial cells(IEC)-6 cells was *** indicated that MbP effectively mitigated the H_(2)O_(2)-induced decrease in IEC-6 cell viability,restored superoxide dismutase(SOD)activity,lowered malondialdehyde(MDA)content,and decreased reactive oxygen species(ROS)*** blotting showed that MbP may mitigate oxidative damage through NF-κb,MAPK and Nrf2 signaling pathway,and RNA sequencing(RNA-seq)analysis confirmed that MbP can protect cells by regulating MAPK and NF-κb signaling ***,the results of the inhibitor experiment also support the above *** results verified that MbP has the capacity to mitigate oxidative damage induced by H_(2)O_(2)in IEC-6 cells through MAPK and NF-κb signaling *** study showed that MbP can assist preventing intestinal diseases relating to oxidative stress,which could facilitate the development of functional foods.

To improve the thermal performance and temperature uniformity of battery pack, this paper presents a novel battery thermal management system (bTMS) that integrates oscillating heat pipe (OHP) technology with liquid cooling. The primary innovation of the new hybrid bTMS lies in the use of an OHP with vertically arranged evaporator and condenser, enabling dual heat transfer pathways through liquid cooling plate and OHP. This study experimentally investigates the performance characteristics of the ⊥-shaped OHP and hybrid bTMS. Results show that lower filling ratios significantly enhance the OHP’s startup performance but reduce operational stability, with optimal performance achieved at a 26.1% filling ratio. Acetone, as a single working fluid, exhibited superior heat transfer performance under low-load conditions compared to mixed fluids, while the acetone/ethanol mixture, forming a non-azeotropic solution, minimized temperature fluctuations. At 100 W, the ⊥-shaped OHP with a horizontally arranged evaporator demonstrated better heat transfer performance than 2D-OHP designs. Compared to a liquid bTMS using water coolant at 280 W, the hybrid bTMS reduced the equivalent thermal resistance ( R bTMS ) and maximum temperature difference ( ΔT max ) by 8.06% and 19.1%, respectively. When graphene nanofluid was used as the coolant in hybrid bTMS, the battery pack’s average temperature ( T b ) dropped from 52.2°C to 47.9°C, with R bTMS and ΔT max decreasing by 20.1% and 32.7%, respectively. These findings underscore the hybrid bTMS’s suitability for high heat load applications, offering a promising solution for electric vehicle thermal management.
