Nano-silica modified lightweight and high-toughness carbon fiber/phenolic ablator with excellent thermal insulation and ablation performance

Lightweight and high-toughness carbon fiber/phenolic ablator(CFPA)is required as the Thermal Protection System(TPS)material of aerospace vehicles for next-generation space *** improve the ablative properties,silica sol with good particle size distribution prepared using tetramethoxysilane(TMOS)was blended with natural rubber latex and deposited onto carbon fiber felt,which was then integrated with phenolic aerogel matrix,introducing nano-silica into the framework of *** modified CFPA with a low density of 0.28—0.31 g/cm3exhibits strain-in-fracture as high as 31.2%and thermal conductivity as low as 0.054 w/(m·K).Furthermore,a trace amount of nano-silica could effectively protect CFPA from erosion of oxidizing atmosphere in different high-temperature *** oxyacetylene ablation test of 3000°C for 20 s shows a mass ablation rate of 0.0225 g/s,a linear ablation rate of 0.209 mm/s for the modified CFPA,which are 9.64%and 24.82%lower than the unmodified ***,the long-time butane ablation test of 1200°C for 200 s shows an insignificant recession with mass and linear ablation rate of 0.079 g/s and 0.039 mm/s,16.84%and 13.33%lower than the unmodified ***,the fixed thermocouple in the test also demonstrates a good thermal insulation performance with a low peak back-face temperature of 207.7°C,12.25%lower than the unmodified ***,the nano-silica modified CFPA with excellent overall performance presents promising prospects in high-temperature aerospace applications.

Objective: Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a condition of insufficient penile erection, consistently or recurrently, for sexual activity. Tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) induces transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β), which causes the transition of epithelial cells into mesenchymal cells that affect ED. This study aimed to evaluate the roles of TNF-α, TGF-β, degree of lower urinary tract symptoms, and prostatic volume for the presence of ED in benign prostatic hyperplasia (bPH) ***: Our study performed an analytic observational retrospective cohort study using secondary data from four hospitals in bali, Indonesia, including medical records and other administrative data. The sample was bPH patients with several history ***: Our sample was 83 respondents, ranging from 50 years to 80 years, 61 respondents with ED and 22 with non-ED. The International Prostate Symptom Score showed a significant result, which indicates that ED is more common in patients with higher International Prostate Symptom Score (p=0.002). Moreover, the TNF-α of ≥43.9 pg/mg and TGF-β of ≥175.8 pg/mL were significantly associated with the presence of ED in bPH patients (pwith ED (p=0.947).Conclusion: TNF-α, TGF-β, and lower urinary tract symptoms severity can predict the occurrence of ED in bPH, while prostatic volume was not significant.

Visualization of MF/Diesel RCCI Combustion Process and Soot Emission

based on the optical engine,the ignition characteristics,combustion process and soot emission characteristics of diesel under different 2-Methylfuran(MF) atmospheres were investigated by high-speed photography and in-cylinder combustion analysis *** results show that at the same main injection timing,the ignition time of reactivity controlled compression ignition(RCCI) combustion mode is earlier than pure diesel combustion,and the ignition point is concentrated near the *** acts as a spark plug to ignite the mixture,but the flame develops slowly in the early stages and the pressure in the cylinder rises *** with pure diesel,RCCI combustion model has smaller peak values of in-cylinder pressure and heat release rate,shorter ignition delay period,earlier combustion phase and shorter combustion *** main spray time at 6℃A bTDC and 12℃A bTDC,with the increase of MF premixing ratio from 0 to 0.75,the peak cylinder pressure decreased by 19.6% and 26% *** addition,with the increase of the MF heat value ratio,the area of KL factor> 1.5 in the combustion chamber decreased and the space integral natural luminescence(SINL) peak value decreased by 48.37%,and the soot formation rate and yield decreased ***,when the MF heat value ratio was too large(75% of the total calorific value),the ignition delay period increased,and misfire occurred at the main injection timing of 0℃A *** RCCI mode of MF/diesel dual fuel has better stability,and better control effect can be obtained at different main inj ection timing.

Polyethylene oxide(PEO)-based solid-state polymer electrolytes(SPEs)are limited by their poor cyclic stability and inferior ionic conductivity for applicating in high-safety,long-cycling and high-energy-density lithium metal ***,porous boron nitride nanofibers(bNNFs)are filled into PEO-based SPE,which significantly suppresses Li dendrites growth and enhances the electrochemical performance of Li metal *** with high porosity have more active sites to connect with PEO,which can effectively reduce the crystallinity of the PEO matrix and enhance its ionic ***,owing to the hardness and good stability of bNNFs,bNNFs/PEO/Li TFSI electrolyte exhibits a wider electrochemical window,better mechanical property and higher thermal stability compared with PEO/Li TFSI ***,the Li symmetric cell composed of 1%bNNFs/PEO/Li TFSI performs good cyclic stability(>1800 h),and the Li||1%bNNFs/PEO/Li TFSI||LFP full battery shows obviously improved performances in charge-discharge polarization voltage,discharge specific capacity,rate performance and cyclic stability than the Li||PEO/Li TFSI||LFP battery.

A statistical analysis of the Kappa-type energy spectrum distribution of radiation belt electrons observed by Van Allen Probes

The energy spectrum of energetic electrons is a key factor representing the dynamic variations of Earth’s Van Allen radiation *** measurements have indicated that the commonly used Maxwellian and Kappa distributions are inadequate for capturing the realistic spectral distributions of radiation belt *** we adopt the Kappa-type(KT)distribution as the fitting function and perform a statistical analysis to investigate the radiation belt electron flux spectra observed by the Van Allen *** calculating the optimal values of the key KT distribution parameters(i.e.,κandθ2)from the observed spectral shapes,we fit the radiation belt electron fluxes at different L-shells under different geomagnetic *** this manner,we obtain typical values of the KT distribution parameters,which are statistically feasible for modeling the radiation belt electron flux profiles during either geomagnetically quiet or active periods.A comparison of the KT distribution model results with those using the Maxwellian or Kappa distribution reveals the advantage of the KT distribution for studying the overall properties of the radiation belt electron spectral distribution,which has important implications for deepening the current understanding of the radiation belt electron dynamics under evolving geomagnetic conditions.

A Multi-strategy Improved Snake Optimizer Assisted with Population Crowding Analysis for Engineering Design Problems

Snake Optimizer(SO)is a novel Meta-heuristic Algorithm(MA)inspired by the mating behaviour of snakes,which has achieved success in global numerical optimization problems and practical engineering ***,it also has certain drawbacks for the exploration stage and the egg hatch process,resulting in slow convergence speed and inferior solution *** address the above issues,a novel multi-strategy improved SO(MISO)with the assistance of population crowding analysis is proposed in this *** the algorithm,a novel multi-strategy operator is designed for the exploration stage,which not only focuses on using the information of better performing individuals to improve the quality of solution,but also focuses on maintaining population *** boost the efficiency of the egg hatch process,the multi-strategy egg hatch process is proposed to regenerate individuals according to the results of the population crowding *** addition,a local search method is employed to further enhance the convergence speed and the local search *** is first compared with three sets of algorithms in the CEC2020 benchmark functions,including SO with its two recently discussed variants,ten advanced MAs,and six powerful CEC competition *** performance of MISO is then verified on five practical engineering design *** experimental results show that MISO provides a promising performance for the above optimization cases in terms of convergence speed and solution quality.

In-situ additive manufacturing of high strength yet ductility titanium composites with gradient layered structure using N_(2)

It has always been challenging work to reconcile the contradiction between the strength and plasticity of titanium *** powder bed fusion(LPbF) is a convenient method to fabricate innovative composites including those inspired by gradient layered *** this work,we used LPbF to selectively prepare Ti N/Ti gradient layered structure(GLSTi)composites by using different N_(2)–Ar ratios during the LPbF *** systematically investigated the mechanisms of in-situ synthesis Ti N,high strength and ductility of GLSTi composites using microscopic analysis,TEM characterization,and tensile testing with digital image ***,a digital correspondence was established between the N_(2) concentration and the volume fraction of LPbF in-situ synthesized Ti *** results show that the GLSTi composites exhibit superior mechanical properties compared to pure titanium fabricated by LPbF under pure ***,the tensile strength of GLSTi was more than 1.5times higher than that of LPbF-formed pure titanium,reaching up to 1100 MPa,while maintaining a high elongation at fracture of 17%.GLSTi breaks the bottleneck of high strength but low ductility exhibited by conventional nanoceramic particle-strengthened titanium matrix composites,and the hetero-deformation induced strengthening effect formed by the Ti N/Ti layered structure explained its strength-plasticity balanced *** microhardness exhibits a jagged variation of the relatively low hardness of 245 HV0.2 for the pure titanium layer and a high hardness of 408 HV0.2 for the N_(2) in-situ synthesis *** study provides a new concept for the structure-performance digital customization of 3D-printed Ti-based composites.

Targeted metabolomics reveals the aberrant energy status in diabetic peripheral neuropathy and the neuroprotective mechanism of traditional Chinese medicine JinMaiTong

Diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) is a common and devastating complication of diabetes, for which effective therapies are currently lacking. Disturbed energy status plays a crucial role in DPN pathogenesis. However, the integrated profile of energy metabolism, especially the central carbohydrate metabolism, remains unclear in DPN. Here, we developed a metabolomics approach by targeting 56 metabolites using high-performance ion chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (HPIC-MS/MS) to illustrate the integrative characteristics of central carbohydrate metabolism in patients with DPN and streptozotocin-induced DPN rats. Furthermore, JinMaiTong (JMT), a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formula, was found to be effective for DPN, improving the peripheral neurological function and alleviating the neuropathology of DPN rats even after demyelination and axonal degeneration. JMT ameliorated DPN by regulating the aberrant energy balance and mitochondrial functions, including excessive glycolysis restoration, tricarboxylic acid cycle improvement, and increased adenosine triphosphate (ATP) generation. bioenergetic profile was aberrant in cultured rat Schwann cells under high-glucose conditions, which was remarkably corrected by JMT treatment. In-vivo and in-vitro studies revealed that these effects of JMT were mainly attributed to the activation of adenosine monophosphate (AMP)-activated protein kinase (AMPK) and downstream peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma coactivator 1-alpha (PGC-1α). Our results expand the therapeutic framework for DPN and suggest the integrative modulation of energy metabolism using TCMs, such as JMT, as an effective strategy for its treatment.
