A CFD study on the hydrodynamic response of a small-scale ice floe induced by a passing ship

A Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes(RANS)computational fluid dynamics(CFD)model is built to investigate the hydrodynamic response of a circular ice floe under the influence of a passing ship in calm *** ship,mirroring the KRISO Container Ship’s hull design,progresses near an ice floe whose diameter is 30%of the ship’s length and its thickness is 3 *** ship advances at a constant speed,which is handled by using the overset mesh *** study focuses on the ice floe’s motions and the hydrodynamic forces induced by three speeds and three transverse distances of the passing *** reveal that ship-generated wakes notably influence the ice floe’s motions,with a greater influence on sway than ***,the ship’s speed and proximity distinctly affect the ice floe’s motions.

A construction of multiple knot b-spline wavelets has been given in[*** and ***,Wavelet on a bounded interval,In:*** and ***,*** methods of approximation ***:birkhauser Verlag;(1992),pp.57–76].In this work,we first modify these wavelets to solve the elliptic(partially)Dirichlet boundary value problems by Galerkin and Petrov Galerkin *** generalize this construction to two dimensional case by Tensor product *** addition,the solution of the system discretized by Galerkin method with modified multiple knot b-spline wavelets is *** also consider a nonlinear partial differential equation for unsteady flows in an open channel called *** the solving of this problem by some methods such as finite difference and finite element produce unsuitable approximations specially in the ends of channel,it is solved by multiple knot b-spline wavelet method that yields a very well ***,some numerical examples are given to support our theoretical results.

Three-dimensional thermal a nalysis simulation of a horizontal zone refining system is conducted for germanimn semiconductor materials. The considered geometry includes a g＇ral）hite boat filled with germanium placed in a cylindrical quartz tube. A flow of Ar and H2 gas mixture is purged througll the tube. A narrow section of the, boat is assmned to be exposed to a constant heat rate produced b v an rf coil located outside the quartz tube. The results of this analysis provide essential information about various parameters such as the shape of tile molten zone, required power and temperature gradient in the system.

Investigation of the relationship between catchment hydrology with climate is essential for understanding of the impact of future climate on hydrological extremes, which may cause frequent flooding, drought, and shortage of water supply. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of climate change on extreme flows in one of the subcatchments of the Ilam dam catchment, Iran. The changes in climate parameters were predicted using the outputs of HadCM3 model for up to the end of the current century in three time periods including 2020s, 2050s, and 2080s. For A2 scenario, increases of 1.09℃, 2.03℃, and 3.62℃, and for b2 scenario rises of 1.18℃, 1.84℃, and 2.55℃ have been predicted. The results suggest that for A2 scenario, the amount of precipitation would decrease by 12.63, 49.13, and 63.42 and for b2 scenario by 47.02,48.51, and 70.26 mm per year. Also the values of PET for A2 scenario would increase by 51.18, 101.47 and 108.71 and for b2 scenario by 60.09, 89.86, and 124.32 mm per year. The results of running the SWAT model revealed that the average annual runoff would decrease by 0.11, 0.41, and 0.61 m3/s and for b2 scenario by 0.39, 0.47, and 0.59 m3/s. The extreme flows were then analyzed by running WETSPRO model. According to the results, the amounts of low flows for A2 scenario will decrease by 0.02, 0.21 and 0.33 m^3/s and for b2 scenario by 0.19, 0.26 and 0.29 m^3/s in the 2020s, 2050s and 2080s, respectively. On the other hand, the results show an increase of peak flows by 11.5, 19.1 and 48.7 m^3/s in A2 scenario and 11.12, 25.93 and 48.1 m^3/s in b2 scenario, respectively. Overall, the results indicated that an increase in return period leads to elevated levels of high flows and diminished low flows.

Designing equipment for processing,sorting,sizing and other post-harvest operations of agricultural products requires information about their physical *** study was carried out to evaluate the effect of moisture content on some physical properties of barley *** levels of moisture content ranging from 7.34%to 21.58%(d.b.)were *** average length,width,thickness,arithmetic mean diameter,geometric mean diameter,thousand grain mass,sphericity,surface area and repose angle increased from 8.91 to 9.64 mm,3.30 to 3.74 mm,2.58 to 2.98 mm,4.93 to 5.45 mm,4.23 to 4.75 mm,44.48 to 51.30 g,47.55%to 49.35%,56.66 to 71.09 mm2 and 31.16°to 36.90°,respectively,as moisture content increased from 7.34%to 21.58%(d.b.).The bulk density,true density and porosity were found to decrease with increasing moisture *** static friction coefficient of the grains increased linearly against various surfaces(plywood,glass and galvanized iron sheet)as the moisture content *** all moisture content,the maximum friction was offered by plywood,followed by galvanized iron sheet and glass surface.

Aim:The aim of this study was to compare the prevalence and severity of depression in chronic hepatitis b(CHb)patients,chronic hepatitis C(CHC)patients,and healthy ***:Two hundred and fifty-three persons participated in this cross-sectional study between 2011 and 2012 in Imam Khomeini *** prevalence and severity of depression were assessed using the Hamilton ***:There was significantly higher prevalence of depression in CHC patients(35.9%)than in healthy participants(11.3%)and CHb patients(19.8%)(both Pb and CHC patients did not differ significantly in their depression prevalence after excluding inactive hepatitis b surface antigen(HbsAg)carriers(29.3%vs.35.9%;P>0.05).Inactive HbsAg carriers differed significantly from CHb patients—excluding inactive HbsAg carriers—in depression prevalence(10.0%vs.29.3%;Pbetween all groups(P>0.05).Conclusion:Depression screening in chronic hepatitis b and chronic hepatitis C patients may be beneficial in disease management.

A set of 2D steady state finite element numerical simulations of electromagnetic fields and heating distribution for an oxide Czochralski crystal growth system was carried out for different input current shapes (sine, square, triangle and sawtooth waveforms) of the induction coil. Comparison between the results presented here demonstrates the importance of input current shape on the electromagnetic field distribution, coil efficiency, and intensity and structure of generated power in the growth setup.

According to the specific properties of UO2 obtained by the thermal decomposition and reduction of ammonium uranyl carbonate and the experimental data analysis of dynamics, in combination with the practical experience of production, we determined to use the hydro-fluorination process of horizontal stirred furnace. The productive operations and modifications for hydro-fluorination of UO2 are mainly summarized in this paper. The dimension of a furnace cylinder is 0.16 m × 2 m and two furnaces link up in series. Gas phase reacts with solid phase in counter flow. The temperature gradient of the reaction from the feed ends of raw material UO2 the discharge and of UF4 is 250-300-400-480 °C. The UF4 content in product is greater than/or equal to 92%, and the hydrogen fluoride concentration in tail gas is 20± 5%.

Organic and inorganic clusteroluminescence have attracted great attention while the underlying mechanisms is still not well ***,we employed a series of ancient inorganic complexes platinocyanides with aggregation-induced emission property to elucidate the mechanism of clusteroluminescence including how does the chromophore form and how does the solid structures influence the luminescence *** results indicate that the isolated platinocyanide cannot work as a chromophore to emit visible light,while their clusterization at aggregate state can trigger the d-orbitals coupling of the platinum atoms to facilitate the electron exchange and delocalization to form a new chromophore to emit visible ***,the counter ions and H2O ligands help to rigidify the three-dimensional network structure of the platinocyanides to suppress the excited state nonradiative decay,resulting in the high quantum yield of up to 96%.This work fundamentally helps understanding both the organic and inorganic clusteroluminescence phenomenon.
