A study was made on the composition and properties of agar-type polysaccharides of Gracilaria sjoestedtii from Qingdao, China. Fractional extraction was carried out and four fractions were obtained. The yields and chemical composition of these fractions were determined. Gel strength measurements of the agar-type polysaccharide fractions were made after alkli modification. The nature of the non-gelling, highly sulphated galactans (Fraction II) present in the thaw water after the initial extraction of Gracilaria in a freeze-thaw cycle was reported and discussed.

This paper discusses the cancellation of Near End Crosstalk （NEXT） and Far End Crosstalk （FEXT） using a non-parametric wavelet denoising *** noise is estimated using Heuristic stein’s Unbiased Risk Estimate （sURE） and bayesian risk minimization threshold *** noise level estimated by a threshold function is used by thresholding rules to mitigate the effect of noise in the signal.A comparison of rates achieved with three thresholding techniques viz;soft thresholds,hard thresholds and a garrote threshold have been *** obtained with AWGN,24 ADsL NEXT and 24 ADsL FEXT disturbers show a significant improvement in Rate reach performance upwards of 4 *** computational complexity in the wavelet denoising technique is independent of the number of crosstalk sources and hence can be suitable candidate for a practical deployment of mitigation of cross talk.

Objective:Pilot study to examine the effect of radiofrequency ablation (RFA) of the lateral palatal fat pad in patients with socially-disruptive ***:snoring outcomes and complications were compared between a group of patients with treated with RFA ablation of the lateral soft palate fat pad with or without inferior turbinate reduction (8 patients) and another group undergoing inferior turbinate reduction alone (12 patients).Results:snoring loudness and bothersomeness improved in the palate but not inferior turbinate *** was mild and no major complications were ***:The study supports RFA ablation of the lateral palatal space as a potential low morbidity procedure for snoring.

The propagation of neuronal activities is a key feature to understanding information processing in networks. The analysis based on first-spikes of bursts in turn plays an important role in the research of neuronal activity propagation. Our focus here is to investigate how spatiotemporal patterns of neuronal first-spikes are affected by disinhibition. Multi-electrode arrays were used to record stimulation-evoked bursts of multiple neurons in randomly cultured neuronal networks. both the precise timing of and the rank relationships between first-spikes were analyzed. Compared with evoked bursts in the network’s native state, the precise first-spike latencies in its dis-inhibited state are more consistent and the propagation of its bursting activities is much faster. Additional points of interest are that disinhibited neuronal networks can be evoked to generate stable and distinguishable neuronal first recruitment spatiotemporal patterns specific to the stimulation site, and that the disinhibition may cause the original spatiotemporal patterns to change in a heterogeneous manner with regards to different propagation pathways.

some TiAl3 whiskers are found to be produced simultaneously during the formation process of Tib2 Particulates fabricated by in situ reaction in molten aluminum. The thec t of temperature of molten aluminum on the morphologies of the TiAl3 whiskers and the growth mechanism of the whiskers are studied in this paper. The results show that the aspect rutio of the TiAl3 whiskers decreases with the increase of the temperoture. The growth of the whiskers is proved to be controlled by a Vapor-Liquidsoltd (VLs) mechanism. The titanium and aluminum atoms in the catalytic droplet,however, have been coofrmed to react with each othen which is dtherent from other whlskcrs growing by a VLs mcchanism where the compostion in the catalytic droplet is a constant.

This paper introduces an Improved RC6(IRC6)cipher for data encryption based on data-dependent *** proposed scheme is designed with the potential of meeting the needs of the Advanced Encryption standard(AEs).Four parameters are used to characterize the proposed *** parameters are the size of the word(w)in bits,the number of rounds(r),the length of the secret key(b)in bytes,and the size of the block(L)in *** main feature of IRC6 is the variable number of working registers instead of just four registers as in RC6,resulting in a variable block size for plaintext and *** IRC6 cipher is designed to improve the robustness against attacks by increasing the diffusion for each round and providing greater security with fewer *** effectiveness of the proposed IRC6 scheme is verified against theoretical *** proposed IRC6 scheme depends on full diffusion and confusion mechanisms regardless of the utilized block *** proposed IRC6 scheme saves 70%of the encryption time and 64%of the decryption time of *** simulation results prove that the IRC6 achieves a better encryption/decryption time compared to the ***,the proposed IRC6 is anticipated to fulfill the market needs and system security requirements.

bACKGROUND： schwann cells （sCs） are the glial cells of the peripheral nervous system, which forms a thick insulating structure around the axons. Hyperglycemia is known physiologic conditions in both type Ⅰ and type Ⅱ diabetes which causes diabetic neuropathy. but the sC possesses insulin receptors even though glucose uptake is independent of insulin. since the insulin level is highly altered in diabetes, it is of greater importance to evaluate their role in the schwann cell survival and death. METHODs： schwann cells were isolated from neonatal pups and grown with and without insulin in hyperglycemic medium to mimic diabetic condition for 24 and 48 h. We studied the cell viability using 3 （4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl） 2,5- diphenyltetrazolium bromide （MTT） and mitochondrial membrane potential （MMP） assay at different time interval on sCs. We also studied the protein and gene expression of Protein Kinase b （AKT） and Jun N-terminal kinase （JNK）, which are greatly involved in cell survival and cell death respectively. REsULTs： The result shows that, high glucose levels for 48 h decrease the sC viability. Hyperglycemic condition induces the sC death by increasing the JNK expression which in turn reduces the MMP of glial cells. However, insulin administration for sCs grown in high glucose condition can reduce the JNK expression by activating AKT signaling pathway. CONCLUsION： These observations demonstrate that the proper insulin balance is required for schwann cells survival in hyperglycemic condition. Therefore, altered insulin signaling can be one of the reasons for demyelination of peripheral neurons in diabetic neuropathy.

The diet of Common Kestrels Falco tinnunculus was studied during the breeding seasons from 2004 to 2008 in Northeast *** was determined by direct observation of the prey brought to nests,and analysis of prey remains collected from *** vertebrate species from three classes,and two groups of insects were identified as prey *** were the main prey items,comprising 93.9% of the total prey items(TPI) and 97.0%of total prey biomass(TPb).birds,frogs and insects were also *** kestrels preferred to prey on small rodents(mean weight 20-40 g) and displayed density-dependent prey *** prey consumption of an adult and a nestling was 2.6 individual rodents or 87.6 g,and 1.7 individual vertebrates or 48.2 g,*** estimated prey consumption of a breeding pair(adults and nestlings) during the breeding season was 520.1 individual vertebrates or 19.7 kg.
