Within density functional theory based on the full potentiM-linearized augmented plane wave method, we carry out the first-principles calculation of the structural, electronic, and optical properties of the zinc blende quaternary alloy Zn1-xbexsyse1-y. The Perdew-burke-Ernzerhof generaized gradient approximation based on the optimization of total energy and the Engel-Vosko generalized gradient approximation based on the optimization of the corresponding potential are used. Our investigation on the effect of the composition on lattice constants, bulk modulus, band gap, optical dielectric constant, and refractive index shows a non-linear dependence. The energy gap Eg（x, y） has been determined over the entire compositions x and y. In addition, the energy band gap of the technologically important quaternary alloy Znl-xbexsyse1-y in conditions of being lattice matched to Zns substrate has been investigated. It is noteworthy that the present work is the first theoretical study of the quaternary alloy of interest.

The paper is devoted to a study of the electro-osmotic flow of a micropolar bio-fluid, when the flow takes place between two plates that are in a state of periodic vibrations. Considering blood as a micropolar fluid, it is found that the amplitude of oscillation of the microparticles of blood increases when the micropolar effect is pronounced more and more and that a rise in DebyeHtickel parameter enhances both the velocity and microrotation gradient. The results provide guidelines for the improvement of design of bio-sensing and micro-fluidic devices. The study leads to the conclusion that electrical double layers formed in the vicinity of the wall can significantly alter the flow dynamics of physiological fluids in micro-bio-fluidic devices.

Comparison of different lymph node staging systems in prognosis of gastric cancer:a bi-institutional study from Hungary

Objective： The Union for International Cancer Control （UICC） Node （N） classification is the most common used staging method for the prognosis of gastric cancer. It demands adequate, at least 16 lymph nodes （LNs） to be dissected; therefore different staging systems were invented. Methods： between March 2005 and March 2010, 164 patients were evaluated at the Department of General surgery in the Ken^zy Gyula Hospital and at the Department of General, Thoracic and Vascular surgery in the Kaposi M6r Hospital. The 6th, 7th and 8th UICC N-staging systems, the number of examined LNs, the number of harvested negative LNs, the metastatic lymph node ratio （MLR） and the log odds of positive LNs （LODDs） were determined to measure their 5-year survival rates and to compare them to each other. Results： The overall 5year survival rate for all patients was 55.5% with a median overall survival time of 102 months. The tumor stage, gender, UICC N-stages, MLR and the LODDs were significant prognostic factors for the 5-year survival with univariate analysis. The 6th UICC N-stage did not follow the adequate risk in comparing N2 vs. NO and N3 vs. NO with multivariate investigation. Comparison of performances of the residual N classifications proved that the LODDs system was first in the prediction of prognosis during the evaluation of all patients and in cases with less than 16 harvested LNs. The MLR gave the best prognostic prediction when adequate （more than or equal to 16） lymphadenectomy was performed. Conclusions： We suggest the application of LODDs system routinely in western patients and the usage of MLR classification in cases with extended lymphadenectomy.

Electrolytic deposition of super-smart composite coating of Zn-V2O5-NbO2 on low carbon steel for defence application

Despite the massive usages of low carbon steel in automobile for engineering components, its corrosion and high friction coefficient in aggressive environment make it limited in service. This paper is aimed at modifying low carbon steel structural component with thin film composite for enhanced mechanical and corrosion properties. The steel structure was electrodeposited with Zn-V_2 O_5 and embedded with varied NbO_2 weight concentration of 6-12 wt % based electrolyte. scanning electron microscope(sEM) and high optical microscope was used to study the microstructural evolution of the fabricated coatings. The thermal stability of the fabricated coatings was studied in an isothermal furnace at 300 ℃ and 600 ℃ and further characterized using a high tech optical microscope. Potentiodynamic polarization technique was used to investigate the corrosion behavior of the composites in 3.65% NaCl. From the result, the effect of NbO_2 on Zn-V_2 O_5-NbO_2 was massive with improved crystal grain within the coatings lattices. The coating possesses strong metallurgical bonding and good corrosion resistance properties of about 0.315 mm/yr corrosion rate compare to 4.1 mm/yr of as-received sample. No doubt the impact of thermal shock on the resilient characteristics of the composite coating was moderate owing to the stable adherent properties of the deposited coatings.

The dynamic pressure distribution on a rectangular plate attached to a rigid wall and supporting an infinitely large extent of fluid subjected to a harmonic ground excitation is evaluated in the time domain. Governing equations for the fluid domain are set considering the compressibility of the fluid with negligibly small change in density and a linearized free surface. A far boundary condition for the three-dimensional fluid domain is developed so that the far boundary is truncated at a closer proximity to the structure. The coupled problem is solved independently for the structure and the fluid domain by transferring the acceleration of the plate to the fluid and pressure of the fluid to the plate in sequence. Helmholtz equation for the three-dimensional fluid domain and Mindlin＇s theory for the two-dimensional plate are used for the solution of the interacting domains. Finite element technique is adopted for the solution of this problem with pressure as nodal variable for the fluid domain and displacement for the plate. The time dependent equations are solved in each of the interacting domain using Newmark-fl method. The effectiveness of the technique is demonstrated and the influences of surface wave, exciting frequency and flexibility of the plate on dynamic pressure are investigated.

Global Workspace theory and Global Neuronal Workspace hypothesis are frameworks about the mechanism of the consciousness, which argued that it is the global workspace that makes awareness. These two theories ignored an important fact that the content of consciousness is not only from the instant sensory input, but also from the inward mind representation. The existence of the default mode network of brain indicates that without the sensory input from instant environment, the brain can carry out organized activities which have intense relationship with inward information processing. This article combines the hypothesis of brain’s default mode network and the classical Global Workspace theory, and put forward an extended theory about global workspace of consciousness.

Potential energy curves for the lowest electronic states of Lab and Lab- have been calculated by ab initio *** diffusion Monte Carlo method has been employed in combination with three different trial functions. spectroscopic constants have also been numerically derived for the neutral molecule and compared with the only available theoretical work;^（[19]） however, predictions are provided for the corresponding constants for the anionic species which have not been reported yet. Our calculations suggest the high spin quintet state of Lab as the ground state with the triplet state higher in energy irrespective of the type of the functional used. This suggestion is in good accordance with the previous theoretical results calculated at b3LYP/LANL2DZ level of theory, whereas it contradicts with the prediction based upon b3LYP/sDD calculations in the same study. Moreover, variations of the permanent dipole moments as a function of the internuclear separations for the two electronic states of the neutral molecule have been studied and analyzed.
