The interaction of human serum albumin with divalent nickel ion was studied by equilibrium dialysis, isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and circular dichroism (CD) in 30 mmol/L Tris buffer , pH=7 0. There is a set of 8 identical binding sites for nickel binding on the protein at two temperatures of 300 K and 310 K. The cooperativity in the binding is observed at 310 K. The Hill coefficients at 300 K and 310 K are 0 97 and 1 25, respectively. The interaction between nickel ions and HSA is exothermic. A value of -36 5 kJ for enthalpy of interaction ( 1∶1 stoichiometry) was obtained. The secondary structure of HSA dose not show any change during the binding nickel ions process. However, the tertiary structure of the protein changes, which shows the existence of two natives like states.

During recent years,atmospheric water generation(AWG)has garnered significant attention among researchers as a viable solution to the water-scarcity ***,AWG requires dehumidification,which includes two main principles of refrigeration and *** refrigeration methods,thermoelectric coolers are suitable and,among sorption methods,it is best to utilize desiccant materials with high sorption capacity and low heat *** the present study,a portable hybrid/integrated solar AWG system was designed and tested under realistic conditions of babol,Iran(36.5387°N,52.6765°E)over four typical summer days between 14 and 31 August *** models(Models A and b)were designed and ***,relative humidity,solar irradiance and water-production data were recorded to assess the system performance(*** ratio between the generated water and consumed power in ml/***)and economically analyse the *** on the results acquired,the maximum water production in the proposed configuration(acquired from Model b)was 2.12 l/m^(2).day at an average relative humidity and a temperature of 52%and 36°C,*** desired AWG system had a system performance of 0.19 ml/***,annual water production of 774.4 l/m^(2),production cost of 0.0246$/l/m^(2)and a payback period of 1.19 years.

An alloy of A1-8wt% Si-0.8wt% Fe was cast in a metallic die, and its microstrucmral changes due to Ti-b refiner and Sr modifier additions were studied. Apart from usual refinement and modification of the microstructure, some mutual influences of the additives took place, and no mutual poisoning effects by these additives, in combined form, were observed. It was noticed that the dimensions of the iron-rich intermetallics were influenced by the additives causing them to become larger. The needle-shaped intermetallics that were obtained from refiner addition became thicker and longer when adding the modifier. It was also found that a-Al and eutectic silicon phases preferentially nucleate on different types of intermetallic compounds. The more iron content of the intermetallic compounds and the more changes in their dimensions occurred. Formation of the shrinkage porosities was also observed.

A tunable continuous wave（cw） mid-infrared（MIR） laser based on difference-frequency generation（DFG） in a 1.5-cm long AgGaS2 nonlinear crystal for trace gas detection is *** visible and near-infrared diode lasers were used as pump and signal *** MIR-DFG laser was tunable in a wavelength range of 4.75 μm-4.88 μ*** phase-matching（PM） condition was non-critically achieved by adjusting the temperature of the crystal for fixed pairs of input pump and signal *** required PM temperatures of the generated MIR-DFG wavelengths have been calculated by using three sets of recent Sellmeier equations and the temperature-dispersion equations of AgGaS2 given by Willer U,et al.（Willer U,blanke T and Schade W 2001 ***.40 5439）.Then the calculated PM temperatures are compared with the experimental *** performance of the MIR-DFG laser is shown by the trace detection of the P（16） carbon monoxide（12C16O） absorption line in a laboratory-fabricated absorption *** enhanced sensitivity of about 0.6×10 4 was obtained through the long path absorption provided by consecutive reflections between coated cylindrical mirrors of a constructed cell.

background： Lipid-lowering effect ofRhus coriaria L. （Rhus） has been investigated in multiple animal stud- ies with promising results. Nonetheless, its clinical efficacy has not been adequately examined. Objective： The aim of this study was to evaluate the lipid-lowering effects of Rhus among patients with hyperlipidemia. Design, setting, participants and interventions： The study was designed as a two-arm, double-blind placebo-controlled randomized clinical trial, using a parallel design. Eighty patients with primary hyper- lipidemia were randomly assigned to receive Rhus capsules or placebo for 6 weeks. Main outcome measures： The serum lipid levels, apolipoprotein-A1 （Apo-A1） and apolipoprotein-b （Apo-b） were measured. Results： Mean serum high-density lipoprotein cholesterol （HDL-C） and Apo-Al levels were significantly increased in the Rhus group, compared with the placebo group, after 6 weeks of intervention （P= 0.001）. The analysis of covariance test including age, gender, body mass index （bMI）, and smoking as co-variables revealed that the increase in HDL-C and Apo-A1 levels remained significant, and increases in HDL-C were dependent on the increase in Apo-A1 levels. No significant difference was observed between Rhus and placebo groups in terms of mean reductions in total cholesterol, low-density lipopro- tein cholesterol and triglyceride levels; however, more significant improvement was observed among obese patients （bMI≥ 30 kg/m^2）. Conclusion： The study showed significant increases in HDL-C and Apo-Al levels in response to Rhus sup- plementation in patients with hyperlipidemia. Trial registration： *** ID： NCT02295293.

Today reliability is one of the serious requirements of electronic systems. The numbers of system failures, repair cost, guarantee, etc. are estimated by reliability estimation. In this paper reliability of a switching power supply, which is used for personal computers, is evaluated. It will show that the most of failure rates depends on power circuit because of more stresses and dissipations. Derating effect of devices on the failure rate is discussed. A prototype power supply＇s waveforms are used for stress detection and calculation of dissipations.

Nowadays, switching power supplies are used in almost all electronic devices to regulate the voltage amplitude. The only obstacle on using these devices is the production of high frequency harmonics that violates different standards such as （FCC, VDE, 461 ）. In this paper the sources of various noises in switching power supplies will be introduced. Then, using appropriate model for high frequency transformers, a sample switching power supply will be simulated. In this simulation, the effect of leakage inductance on current and voltage waveforms of the input and output switches, which are the main cause of common mode differential mode noises and radiations, will be discussed and harmonically analyzed. Finally the experimental results will confirm the simulation conclusions.

Association of promoter polymorphism of the CD14 C (-159) T endotoxin receptor gene with chronic hepatitis b

AIM: To investigate whether single-nucleotide polymor- phisms in the promoter regions of endotoxin-responsive genes CD14 C (-159) T is associated with chronic hepatitis b. METHODS: We obtained genomic DNA from 80 patients with established diagnosis of chronic hepatitis b and 126 healthy subjects served as a control population. The CD 14 C (-159) T polymorphism was investigated using an allele specific PCR method. RESULTS: Twenty seven percent of chronic hepatitis b patients and 75% of controls were heterozygous for CT genotype. The difference between the chronic hepatitis b and control groups was statistically significant [P b and patients 12.3% of the control group were heterozygous for TT genotype. The difference between groups was not statistically significant (P = 0.256; OR = 0.658; 95% CI: 0.319-1.358). Forty eight point four percent of chronic hepatitis b patients and 12.7% of control were homozy- gote for CC genotype (P b patients group. The frequency of allele C was 55.2% and allele T was 44.8% for the control group (P = 0.179; OR = 1.319; 95% CI: 0.881-1.977). CONCLUSION: The TT heterozygous genotype was not a risk factor for chronic hepatitis b. CC homozygote genotype is protective for hepatitis b. Lack of heterozy- gosis of genotype CT is a risk factor for chronic hepatitis b. Alleles C or T were not risk factors for chronic hepatitis b. These findings show the role of a single-nucleotide polymorphism at CD14/-159 on the development ofchronic hepatitis b. Endotoxin susceptibility may play a role in the pathogenesis of chronic hepatitis b.

AIM： To study the effect of a one-year lamivudine regimen in patients with chronic hepatitis b. METHODS： Medical records of HbeAg negative hepatitis b patients who attended a hepatitis clinic in Tehran between March 2002-March 2004 were evaluated. The patients received 100 mg lamivudine tablets once daily for at least 12 mo. Liver enzymes and complete blood count were checked at baseline and the end of treatment （12th mo） and 6 mo after discontinuation of treatment. RESULTS： Of all patients, 24 were excluded. Of 71 patients left, 58 （81.7%） were men. Mean age of the patients was 38 ± 14 years. Mean level of ALT in serum was 1437 ± 205 nkat/L at baseline with a significant reduction at the end of treatment to a mean level of 723 ± 92 nkat/L （P = 0.002）. In 38 patients （53.5%）, the ALT level was normal after one-year treatment. Five patients （7.3%） relapsed （biochemically） within 6 mo after discontinuing lamivudine therapy （the patients with good end of treatment response）. Mean level of AST in serum was 1060 ± 105 nkat/L at baseline which decreased significantly to 652 ± 75 nkat/L at the end of treatment （P = 0.002）. CONCLUSION： Over half （53.5%） of chronic hepatitis b patients with HbeAg negative have normal liver enzyme level at 12-mo lamivudine therapy.
