SnS is a promising Ⅳ-Ⅵ semiconductor,which is very less explored for diluted magnetic semiconducting and dielectric *** this study,the Ni doping(xNi=0-10mol%) effects on SnS host lattice were investigated.A simple and low cost co-precipitation technique was employed to grow Ni doped SnS *** X-ray diffraction confirmed single phase orthorhombic structure with a nano-crystalline nature that was further verified through the surface structure observed by scanning electron *** edge x-ray absorption fine structure spectroscopy revealed a shift in the Ni absorption edge towards higher energy,depicting the formation of Ni+3oxidation *** impedance measurements,in the frequency range 1 kHz to 20 MHz,depict that owing to the excellent sensitivity to the electromagnetic radiations at the low energy,the Ni doped SnS finds potential applications in various energy related *** sample magnetometer measurements have elucidated room temperature ferromagnetism,which depicts potential memory device applications.

How does the stand structure of treeline-forming species shape the treeline ecotone in different regions of the Nepal Himalayas?

Stand structure dynamics are considered as major happenings in any forest as a response to environmental ***,this important topic is underrepresented in the treeline studies in the Nepal *** aimed to investigate site-as well as species-specific changes in morphometric features(basal diameter,crown cover,density,and height)along the elevational gradient across treeline ecotones in response to recent environmental *** stand structure characteristics of Abies spectabilis,Pinus wallichiana,and betula utilis across the treeline ecotone of three study sites in Eastern(barun),Central(Manang),and Western(Dhorpatan)Nepal were analyzed to elucidate structural ***,eight transects(20 m×(60–250 m))across the treeline ecotone were *** of all life forms,trees(>2 m),saplings(0.5–2 m),and seedlings(basal area increment was higher in barun,but the Manang treeline,despite profound regeneration in recent years,had a low annual basal area ***,the altitudinal distribution of age and morphometry were not consistent among those ***,intra-specific competition was not *** site-specific stand structure dynamics explain why treelines do not respond uniformly to increasing *** invokes,in further studies,the incorporation of the tree’s morphometric adaptation traits,phenotypic plasticity,and interactions between species genotype and the environment.

Supercapacitors have attracted much attention in the field of electrochemical energy ***,material preparation,stability,performance as well as power density limit their applications in many ***,a sponge-like red phosphorus@graphene(rP@rGO)negative electrode and a Ni2P positive electrode were prepared using a simple one-step *** electrodes showed excellent performances(294 F g^−1 and 1526.6 F g^−1 for rP@rGO and Ni2P,respectively),which seem to be the highest among all rP@rGO-and Ni2P-based electrodes reported so *** asymmetric solid-state supercapacitor was assembled by sandwiching a gel electrolyte-soaked cellulose paper between rP@rGO and Ni2P as the negative and positive *** to other asymmetric devices,the device,which attained a high operating window of up to 1.6 V,showed high energy and power density values of 41.66 and 1200 W kg−1,*** also has an excellent cyclic stability up to 88%after various consecutive charge/discharge ***,the device could power commercial light emitting diodes and fans for 30 ***,the ease of the synthesis method and excellent performance of the prepared electrode materials mat have significant potential for energy storage applications.

The alpine treeline ecotone is an important component of mountain ecosystems of the Nepal Himalaya; it plays a vital role in the livelihood of indigenous people,and provides ecosystem services. However,the region faces a problem of paucity of data on treeline characteristics at the regional and landscape scales. Therefore,we used Remote Sensing(RS),and Geographic Information Science(GIS) approaches to investigate cross-scale interactions in the treeline ecotone. Additionally,European Space Agency land cover map,International Center for Integrated Mountain Development(ICIMOD) land cover map,ecological map of Nepal,and United States Geological Survey Shuttle Radar Topography Mission-Digital Elevation Model were used to analyze treeline pattern at the regional scale. Digital Globe high-resolution satellite imagery of barun(eastern Nepal) and Manang(central Nepal) were used to study treeline patterns at the landscape scale. Treeline elevation ranges from 3300-4300 m above sea level. Abies spectabilis,betula utilis,and Pinus wallichiana are the main treeline-forming species in the Nepal Himalaya. There is an east to west treeline elevationgradient at the regional scale. No slope exposure is observed at the regional scale; however,at the landscape scale,slope exposure is present only in a disturbed area(Manang). Topography and human disturbance are the main treeline controlling factor in barun and Manang respectively.

brick kiln is well known as one of the main sources of air pollution;however,the pollutants produced from it do not remain in the air,they ultimately fall down to the soil and pollute the surroundings,therefore,this study was carried out to assess the status of macro(N,P,K and S)and micro nutrients(Fe,Mn and Zn,Cu)in the agricultural environment near the brick kilns of Young brahmaputra and Jamuna Floodplain *** soil and plant samples were collected from four distances such as 250 m,500 m,1000 m,and 1500 m in three different ***(2352-3378 mg kg^-1),Zn(86-156 mg kg^-1)and Cu(24.7-46.9 mg kg^-1)are found in the elevated levels near brick kiln soils that is released due to burning of poor quality coal and fire *** alarming news is that plant uptake of S and micro nutrients in the nearest areas of the brick kilns are significantly higher than the areas far from the brick production and their concentration ranges from 23 mg kg^-1 to 101 mg kg^-1 for Zn,10-41 mg kg^-1 for Cu,35-1309 mg kg^-1 for Fe,26-126 mg kg^-1 for Mn and 2590-mg kg^-1 for *** indicates both soil and plant received maximum amount of micronutrients and S concentrations within 500-1000 m distances from brick *** and Mn concentrations vary within a permissible limit but the plant uptake is *** concentrations is increasing with the distance from the brick kilns in both soils and plants but no definite pattern of P and K accumulation was *** suggested avoiding agricultural practice nearby brick kiln soils due to micronutrient contamination in order to preserve adjoined agricultural environment.

bACKGROUND： Pancreaticoduodenectomy is a high risk, complex, technically challenging operation associated with significant perioperative morbidity and mortality. This study on the surgical management of periampullary cancer patients is based on our experience in a period of nearly 13 years. METHODS： The study was conducted on two groups of patients： group A included 42 patients who were treated between January 2000 and September 2005 and group b included 134 patients who were treated between October 2005 to October 2012. Preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative details of all these patients were collected, tabulated and analyzed to assess the impact of the selective approach introduced in the department with effect from October 2005. RESULTS： Intraoperative details revealed highly significant differences in the management of the two groups of patients in respect of operative time （250.4 vs 126.6 minutes; P〈0.001）, operative blood loss （1070.2 vs 414.9 mL; P〈0.001） and intraoperative blood transfusion （1A vs 0.2 units; P〈0.001）. Variations between the two groups in the frequency of complications were found to be statistically insignificant. However, the difference between the two groups in the overall morbidity of patients （47.6% vs 26.1%; P=0.009） and the length of their hospital stay （11.8 vs 7.8 days; P〈0.001） were significant. CONCLUSION： A selective approach applied to the surgical management of periampullary cancer patients is a step in the right direction.

甘露糖-6-磷酸(M6P)是一种重要的磷酸糖,其可以参与多种生理功能,在药物合成方面有重要应用。然而,传统方法生产甘露糖-6-磷酸需要用ATP作为磷酸供体,合成成本高昂。为了解决这一问题,在本课题中,我们以甘露糖为底物,使用无机多磷酸盐为磷酸供体,利用甘露糖激酶(glucomannokinase)催化合成M6P,从而避免ATP的使用。我们从草分枝杆菌(Mycobacterium phlei)中克隆出甘露糖激酶基因,并将其转化到大肠杆菌中进行诱导表达,随后获得的酶被纯化。甘露糖激酶蛋白大小30kDa,纯化结果由蛋白电泳检测。最终,我们获得了 0.69mg/mL的甘露糖激酶,其纯度超过90%。动力学研究表明,该酶对多磷酸盐和葡萄糖的催化性能优于ATP和甘露糖,其米氏常数KM值分别为1.7μM,9.5 μM,4.6 μM和203.7 μM。进一步实验表明,甘露糖-6-磷酸生产的最适反应条件是:pH8.5,25℃,多磷酸盐/甘露糖=3:1。另外,一定浓度的Mg2+有助于提高酶活性。结果说明来自草分枝杆菌的葡糖甘露糖酶有工业化生产甘露糖-6-磷酸的潜力。此外,本课题还进行了另一方面的研究——蛛丝蛋白的MaSp2的合成。丝是一种重要的生物产品,其可以用来制作许多重要的生物材料,如缝合线等。一般地,丝含有两种重要的蛋白质,壶腹蛛丝蛋白1和2(MaSp1;MaSp1)。在本课题中,我们尝试使用大肠杆菌bL21(DE3)作为宿主,人工合成MaSp2。起初,我们构建了名为gene unit的丝基因的单体单元(约100bp)。随后,这些单链寡核苷酸gene unit被头尾连接,以得到不同长度的聚合gene unit(聚合度为2-64)。这些聚合gene unit被插入到质粒中。质粒pET28a(+)和pET22b(+)分别带有MaSp2和Ala/glyc-tRNA基因,其被转化到在大肠杆菌bL21(DE3)中共表达。重组大肠杆菌在含有0.05%丙氨酸和甘氨酸的培养基中培养(避免蛋白翻译在早期停止)。最终,我们得到了大小为55和110 kDa的人工MaSp2蛋白。结果说明了 MaSp2能够被人工合成,工程化大肠杆菌可以被用于表达高分子量和具有重复氨基酸序列的蛋白质。

Type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)and post-transplant diabetes mellitus(PTDM)share a common ***,diabetes mellitus is a complex disease,and T2DM and PTDM have different etiologies.T2DM is a metabolic disorder,characterized by persistent hyperglycemia,whereas PTDM is a condition of abnormal glucose tolerance,with variable onset after organ *** KCNQ1 and KCNJ11 gene encode potassium channels,which mediate insulin secretion from pancreatic b-cells,and KCN gene mutations are correlated with the development of ***,no studies have been carried out to establish an association between KCNQ1 and KCNJ11 gene polymorphisms and T2DM and ***,our study was aimed at the identification of the role of KCNQ1 and KCNJ11 gene polymorphisms associated with T2DM and the risk of developing PTDM in the Asian Indian *** have carried out a caseecontrol study including 250 patients with T2DM,250 control subjects,42 patients with PTDM and 98 subjects with ***-RFLP analysis was carried out following the isolation of genomic DNA from EDTA-blood *** results of the present study reveal that two single nucleotide polymorphisms(rs2283228 and rs5210,of the KCNQ1 and KCNJ11 genes,respectively)are associated with both T2DM and *** results of our study suggest a role of KCNQ1 and KCNJ11 gene variants in the increased risk of T2DM and PTDM in the Asian Indian population.
