The objective of the present work is to analyze the flow,heat and mass transfer characteristics in a thin nanofluid film over a heated stretched sheet in the presence of a non-uniform heat source/sink and thermal *** variables are used to transform the partial differential equations into a system of ordinary differential *** resulting system of nonlinear ordinary differential equations is then solved numerically by using the Runge-Kutta-Fehlberg integration scheme with a shooting *** effects of the unsteadiness parameter,the thermal radiation,the non-uniform heat source/sink parameter on flow and heat transfer fields are *** is found that an increase in the unsteadiness parameter is to increase the velocity and temperature gradient ***,an increase in the thermal radiation parameter affects the nanoparticle temperature gradient of the nanofluid film but the reversed is true with the concentration gradient.

Study of electron drift velocity caused by E ×b motion is done with the help of a Mach probe in a dc cylindrical magnetron sputtering system at different plasma discharge parameters like discharge voltage, gas pressure and applied magnetic field strength. The interplay of the electron drift with the different discharge parameters has been investi- gated. Strong radial variation of the electron drift velocity is observed and is found to be maximum near the cathode and it decreases slowly with the increase of radial distance from the cathode. The sheath electric field, E measured experimentally from potential profile curve using an emissive probe is contributed to the observed radial variation of the electron drift velocity. The measured values of the drift velocities are also compared with the values from the con- ventionM theory using the experimental values of electric and magnetic fields. This study of the drift velocity variation is helpful in providing a useful insight for determining the discharge conditions and parameters for sputter deposition of thin film.

Cholera,caused by the infection of toxigenic Vibrio cholerae(***) to humans,is a life threatening diarrheal disease with epidemic and pandemic *** ***,both 01 and 0139 serogroups,produce a potent enterotoxin(cholera toxin) responsible for the lethal symptoms of the *** O1 serogroup has two biotypes(phenotypes),classical and El Tor;each of which has two major serotypes(based on antigenic responses),Ogawa and Inaba and the extremely rare *** O1 strains interconvert and switch between the Ogawa and Inaba *** and electrolyte replacement is the mainstay of treatment of cholera patients;the severe cases require antibiotic treatment to reduce the duration of illness and replacement of fluid *** antibiotic therapy cunenlly has faced difficulties due to the rapid emergence and spread o(multidrug resistant *** causing several outbreaks in the ***,cholera has been becoming endemic in an increasing number of geographical areas,reflecting a failure in implementation of control ***,the current safe oral vaccines lower the number of resistant infections and could thus represent an effective intervention measure to control antibiotic resistance in ***,the priorities for cholera control remain public health interventions through improved drinking water,sanitation, surveillance and access to health care facilities,and lurther development of safe,effective and appropriate ***,this review describes the facts and phenomena related to the disease cholera,which is still a great threat mainly to the developing countries,and hence a grave global concern too.

We present a theoretical study on the effects of intense laser field(ILF)and static electric field on the linear and nonlinear optical properties of a cylindrical quantum dot with Rosen-Morse axial potential under the framework of effective mass and parabolic band *** study also takes into account the effects of the structure parameters(η,V1,and R).The analytical expressions of the linear,third-order nonlinear and total optical absorption coefficients(TOACs)and the relative refractive index changes(RRICs)are obtained by using the compact-densitymatrix *** results of numerical calculations show that the resonant peak position of the TOACs and RRICs shifts towards lower energies and the magnitude of the peak increases with the effect of the static electric field and *** addition,it is observed that while the resonant energies of the TOACs and RRICs of system shift towards the higher(lower)energies with the enhancement ofη,V1,they decrease with the augmentation of ***,the findings of this study show that the optical properties of the structure can be adjusted by changing the magnitude of structure parameters and applied external fields.

Effect of heavy load carriage on cardiorespiratory responses with varying gradients and modes of carriage

background: The present study was undertaken to determine the effect of different uphill and downhill gradients on cardiorespiratory and metabolic responses of soldiers while carrying heavy military loads in two different ***: Eight physically fit male soldiers with a mean age 32.0±2.0 years, a mean height of 169.5±4.9 cm, and a mean weight of 63.8±8.4 kg volunteered for this study. Each volunteer completed treadmill walking trials at a speed of 3.5 km/h while carrying no external load, 31.4 kg load in a distributed mode(existing load carriage ensembles) and compact mode(new back pack) over 5 different downhill and uphill gradients(–5%, –10%, 0%, 5%, 10%) for 6 min at each gradient. During the walking trials, heart rate(HR), oxygen uptake(VO_2), respiratory frequency(RF) and energy expenditure(EE) were determined by the process of breath-by-breath gas analysis using a K4 b2 system. The average of the last 2 min data from each 6 min walking trial for each individual was subjected to statistical ***: All parameters(HR, VO_2, RF, and EE) gradually increased with the change in gradient from downhill to level to uphill. The distributed mode showed higher values compared to compact mode for all gradients, e.g., for VO_2, there was a 10.7, 7.4, 5.1, 28.2 and 18.7% increase in the distributed mode across the 5 different ***: It can be concluded from the present study that the compact mode of load carriage is more beneficial than the distributed mode in terms of cardiorespiratory responses while walking on downhill and uphill surfaces with a 31.4 kg load.

Consider the heterogeneity(e.g.,heterogeneous social behaviour,heterogeneity due to different geography,contrasting contact patterns and different numbers of sexual partners etc.)of host population,in this paper,the authors propose an infection age multigroup SEIR epidemic *** model system also incorporates the feedback variables,where the infectivity of infected individuals may depend on the infection *** the direction of mathematical analysis of model,the basic reproduction number R_0 has been *** global stability of disease-free equilibrium and endemic equilibrium have been established in the term of R_(0).More precisely,for R_(0)≤1,the disease-free equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable and for R_(0)>1,they establish global stability of endemic equilibrium using some graph theoretic techniques to Lyapunov function *** considering a numerical example,they investigate the effects of infection age and feedback on the prevalence of the *** result shows that feedback parameters have different and even opposite effects on different ***,by choosing an appropriate value of feedback parameters,the disease could be eradicated or maintained at endemic ***,the infection age of infected individuals may also change the behaviour of the disease,global stable to damped oscillations or damped oscillations to global stable.

bACKGROUND Hip fractures and proximal humerus fractures are known to be associated with increased mortality,but the impact on mortality of combining these two common injuries is not well *** To compare mortality,inpatient stay and discharge destination for patients with combined hip and proximal humerus fractures with those sustaining isolated hip *** Using the United Kingdom national hip fracture database,we identified all hip fracture patients over the age of 60 admitted to a single trauma unit from *** sustaining a proximal humerus fracture in addition to their hip fracture were identified using hospital coding *** calculated the 30-d and one-year mortality for both the hip fracture cohort and the combined hip and proximal humerus fracture *** variables recorded included age,gender and whether the proximal humerus was treated with or without an *** We identified 4131 patients with hip fractures within the study period and out of those 40 had sustained both a hip and a proximal humerus *** age in the hip fracture cohort was 80.9 years and in the combined fracture group 80.3 *** of the 40 patients in the combined group four were treated *** 30-d mortality for our hip fracture cohort was 7.2%compared to the mortality of our combined cohort of 12.5%(p=0.163).The one-year mortality for our hip fracture cohort was 26.4%compared to 40%for the combined fracture cohort(p=0.038).We also found patients with combined injuries were less likely to return to their own *** The 30-d and one-year mortality is higher for those patients who have sustained a combined hip and proximal humerus fracture when compared to those with a hip fracture alone.

Laboratory simulated dissipation of metsulfuron methyl and chlorimuron ethyl in soils and their residual fate in rice, wheat and soybean at harvest

Two sulfonylurea herbicides, metsulfuron methyl （Ally 20 Wp） and chlorimuron ethyl （Classic 25 Wp） were evaluated for their dissipation bchaviour in alluvial, coastal saline and laterite soils under laboratory incubated condition at 60% water holding capacity of soils and 30 ℃ temperature was maintained. In field study herbicides were applied twice for the control of grasses, annual and perennials broad leaves weeds and sedges in rice, wheat and soybean to find out the residual fate of both the herbicides on different matrices of respective crops after harvest. Extraction and clean up methodologies for the herbicides were standardized and subsequently analyzed by HpLC. The study revealed that the half-lives of metsulfuron methyl and chlorimuron ethyl ranged from 10.75 to 13.94 d irrespective of soils and doses applied. Field trials with rice, wheat and soybean also revealed that these two herbicides could safely be recommended for application as no residues were detected in the harvest samples.
