Uncertainty is an important factor that needs to be considered while analyzing the performance of any engineering system.In order to quantify uncertainty,fuzzy set theory is frequently used by most of researchers,including energy system experts.According to the classical reliability theory,component lifetimes have crisp parameters,but due to uncertainty and inaccuracy in data,it is sometimes very difficult to determine the exact values of these parameters in real-world systems.To overcome this difficulty in the current research,failure and repair rates were taken as triangular fuzzy numbers to determine the fuzzy availability of a system undergoing calendar-based periodic inspection subject to multiple failure modes(Fms).It was assumed that each component in the system had an exponential failure rate and repair rate with fuzzy parameters.System Fms were explicitly taken into account when a functional state of the system was considered.Each Fm had a random failure time.On the occurrence of any failure,a random time was selected for the relevant corrective repair work.The proposed research was studied for one of the major sources of green energy,namely a wind turbine system wherein all the derived propositions have been implemented on it.

Wireless sensor networks are a collection of intelligent sensor devices that are connected to one another and have the capability to exchange information packets amongst themselves.In recent years,this field of research has become increasingly popular due to the host of useful applications it can potentially serve.A deep analysis of the concepts associated with this domain reveals that the two main problems that are to be tackled here are throughput enhancement and network security improvement.The present article takes on one of these two issues namely the throughput enhancement.For the purpose of improving network productivity,a hybrid clustering based packet propagation protocol has been proposed.The protocol makes use of not only clustering mechanisms of machine learning but also utilizes the traditional forwarding function approach to arrive at an optimum model.The result of the simulation is a novel transmission protocol which significantly enhances network productivity and increases throughput value.

This paper describes how to produce a wearable dry electrode at a reasonable cost and how to use it for the monitoring of biopotentials in electrocardiography.Smart textiles in wearable technologies have made a great advancement in the health care management and living standards of humans.Graphene was manufactured using the low-cost single-step process,laser ablation of polyimide,a commercial polymer.Graphene dispersions were made using solvent isopropyl alcohol which has low boiling point,nontoxicity,and environmental friendliness.After successive coating of the graphene dispersion on the cotton fabric to make it conductive,the sheet resistance of the resulting fabric dropped to 3% of its initial value.The laser-induced graphene(LIG)cotton dry electrodes thus manufactured are comparable to Ag/AgCl wet electrodes in terms of the skin-to-electrode impedance,measuring between 78.0 and 7.2 kΩ for the frequency between 40 Hz and 1 kHz.The LIG cotton electrode displayed a signal-to-noise ratio of 20.17 db.Due to its comfort,simplicity,and good performance over a longer period of time,the textile electrode appears suited for medical applications.

In the present study,we applied Tsallis non-extensive statistics to investigate the thermodynamic properties and phase diagram of quark matter in the Polyakov chiral SU(3)quark mean field model.Within this model,the properties of the quark matter were modified through the scalar fieldsσ,ζ,δ,χ,vector fieldsω,ρ,ϕ,and Polyakov fieldsΦandΦ¯at finite temperature and chemical potential.Non-extensive effects were introduced through a dimensionless parameter q,and the results were compared to those of the extensive case(q→1).In the non-extensive case,the exponential in the Fermi-Dirac(FD)function was modified to a q-exponential form.The influence of the q parameter on the thermodynamic properties,pressure,energy,and entropy density,as well as trace anomaly,was investigated.The speed of sound and specific heat with non-extensive effects were also studied.Furthermore,the effect of non-extensivity on the deconfinement phase transition as well as the chiral phase transition of u,d,and s quarks was explored.We found that the critical end point(CEP),which defines the point in the(T−μ)phase diagram where the order of the phase transition changes,shifts to a lower value of temperature,TCEP,and a higher value of chemical potential,μCEP,as the non-extensivity is increased,that is,q>1.

Application of Response Surface methodology for Analysing and Optimizing the Finned Solar Air Heater

In this research paper,a solar air heater with triangular fins has been experimentally analysed and optimized.Initially,an experimental set-up of a solar air heater having triangular fins has been developed at the location of 28.10°N,78.23°E.The heat transfer rate through fins and fins efficiency has been determined by the Finite Difference method model equations.The experimental data and modeled data of response parameters have been optimized in mINITAb-17 software by the Response Surface methodology tool.For creating the response surface design,three input parameters have been selected namely solar intensity,Reynolds number,and fin base-to-height ratio.The range of solar intensity,Reynolds number,and fin base-to-height ratio is 600 to 1000W/m^(2),4000 to 6000,and 0.4 to 0.8 respectively.The response surface design has been analyzed by calculating the outlet temperature,friction factor,Nusselt number,fin efficiency,thermal performance factor,and exergy efficiency.The optimum settings of input parameters:solar intensity is 1000 W/m^(2);Reynolds number is 4969.7,and the fin base to height ratio is 0.6060,on which these response:namely outlet temperature of 92.531℃,friction factor of 0.2350,Nusselt number of 127.761,thermal efficiency of 50.836%,thermal performance factor of 1.4947,and exergy efficiency of 8.762%.

Investigating the Evolution of Amati Parameters with Redshift

Gamma-ray bursts(GRbs) are among the brightest objects in the Universe and, hence, can be observed up to a very high redshift. Properly calibrated empirical correlations between intensity and spectral correlations of GRbs can be used to estimate the cosmological parameters. However, the possibility of the evolution of GRbs with redshift is a long-standing puzzle. In this work, we used 162 long-duration GRbs to determine whether GRbs below and above a certain redshift have different properties. The GRbs are split into two groups, and we fit the Amati relation for each group separately. Our findings demonstrate that estimations of the Amati parameters for the two groups are substantially dissimilar. We perform simulations to investigate whether the selection effects could cause the difference. Our analysis shows that the differences may be either intrinsic or due to systematic errors in the data, and the selection effects are not their true origin. However, in-depth analysis with a new data set comprised of 119 long GRbs shows that intrinsic scatter may partly be responsible for such effects.

Sodium alginate(SA)/chitosan(CH)polyelectrolyte scaffold is a suitable substrate for tissue-engineering application.The present study deals with further improvement in the tensile strength and biological properties of this type of scaffold to make it a potential template for bone-tissue regeneration.We experimented with adding 0%–15%(volume fraction)gelatin(GE),a protein-based biopolymer known to promote cell adhesion,proliferation,and differentiation.The resulting tri-polymer complex was used as bioink to fabricate SA/CH/GEmatrices by three-dimensional(3D)printing.morphological studies using scanning electron microscopy revealed the microfibrous porous architecture of all the structures,which had a pore size range of 383–419μm.X-ray diffraction and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy analyses revealed the amorphous nature of the scaffold and the strong electrostatic interactions among the functional groups of the polymers,thereby forming polyelectrolyte complexes which were found to improve mechanical properties and structural stability.The scaffolds exhibited a desirable degradation rate,controlled swelling,and hydrophilic characteristics which are favorable for bone-tissue engineering.The tensile strength improved from(386±15)to(693±15)kPa due to the increased stiffness of SA/CH scaffolds upon addition of gelatin.The enhanced protein adsorption and in vitro bioactivity(forming an apatite layer)confirmed the ability of the SA/CH/GE scaffold to offer higher cellular adhesion and a bone-like environment to cells during the process of tissue regeneration.In vitro biological evaluation including the mTT assay,confocal microscopy analysis,and alizarin red S assay showed a significant increase in cell attachment,cell viability,and cell proliferation,which further improved biomineralization over the scaffold surface.In addition,SA/CH containing 15%gelatin designated as SA/CH/GE15 showed superior performance to the other fabricated 3D structures,demonstrating its potential for use in bone-tissue engineering.

The present study is a systematic effort to investigate the structure-sensitive magnetic parameters of Ce^(3+) substituted ba-Sr hexaferrite nanocrystals chemically formulated as ba_(0.5)Sr_(0.5)Ce_(x)Fe_(12-x)O_(19) where x=0.0-0.2 with Δx=0.05.The hexaferrite powders were prepared using the sol-gel self-ignition route and structurally characterized by means of powder X-ray diffraction and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy.The creation of the m-type hexaferrite phase within the synthesized samples was revealed from the Rietveld refinement of the X-ray diffractograms.The occurrence of a secondary phase of CeO_(2) was revealed within the hexaferrites for the substitution,x> 0.The refined X-ray diffraction data were utilized to compute the lattice parameters,X-ray density,and lattice parameter ratio.The crystal structure plotted from the refined XRD data reveals the occupancy of the ions at different lattice sites.The XPS data of the hexaferrite were analyzed to confirm the oxidation states of the constituent elements.The nanocrystalline nature of the hexaferrites was revealed from the crystallite sizes calculated using Scherer's formula.The analysis of FTIR spectra confirms that only a fraction of Ce^(3+)accommodated in the lattice and the remaining Ce content reside in the form of the CeO_(2) phase.The morphology of the hexaferrites was analyzed from the FESEm profiles of the ferrite samples.The magnetic behavior study was performed by analyzing the Curie temperature,hysteresis loops,and hyperfine interactions by means of susceptibility,V.S.m,and mossbauer spectroscopy,respectively.The hexaferrites with increasing coercivity,decreasing saturation magnetization,and decreasing Curie temperature are reported in the study.The substituted Ce^(3+)ions inhibit the grain growth and create lattice imperfections giving rise to hexaferrites with tuned magnetic parameters suitable for different applications.

Endosperm tissue is crucial to seed development.monocots and dicots have evolved different fates for their endosperm:it is usually consumed in dicots during seed development,while monocot seeds retain the endosperm until maturity.Recently,Wu et al.(2022)addressed the role of divergent epigenetic regulation over the functionally conserved IKU2 gene contributing to silenced or persistent endosperm proliferation and have provided insights into divergent seed ontogeny patterns in plants.Here,we highlight the novel findings from this study and their potential significance.

Wastewater contamination by heavy metals and synthetic dyes presents a significant environmental challenge, necessitating effective and sustainable separation techniques. This review article provides a detailed examination of magnesium oxide(mgO) nanoparticles as an innovative nanoadsorbent for wastewater treatment, with a specific focus on heavy metal and dye removal. The review comprehensively explores various aspects of mgO nanoparticles, including their structural characteristics and synthesis techniques. The article delves into the morphology and crystallographic arrangement of mgO nanoparticles, offering insights into their structural attributes. Given the complexity of adsorption processes, the review identifies and analyzes parameters influencing the adsorption efficiency of mgO nanoparticles, such as temperature, pH, contact time, initial concentration, and co-existing ions. The interplay between these parameters and the adsorption capability of mgO nanoparticles emphasizes the importance of optimizing operational conditions. Furthermore, the review assesses various synthesis methods for mgO nanoparticles, including sol-gel, hydrothermal, precipitation, green synthesis, solvothermal, and template-assisted techniques. It discusses the advantages, limitations, and resulting nanoparticle characteristics of each method, enabling readers to grasp the implications of synthesis processes on adsorption efficiency. This comprehensive review consolidates current insights into the effectiveness of mgO nanoparticles as a potent nanoadsorbent for removing heavy metals and dyes from wastewater covering a wide spectrum of aspects related to mgO nanoparticles. moreover, there is a need to investigate the use of mgO in the treatment of actual wastewater or river water,in order to leverage its cost-effectiveness and high efficiency for practical water treatment applications in real-time.
