This paper deals with an unsteady magnetohydrodynamics(MHD)heat and masstransfer for a viscous incompressible fluid through a vertical stretching surface embedded ina Darcy-Forchheimer porous medium in the presence of a non-uniform heat source/sink andfirst-order chemical reaction.The porous surface is subjected to a uniform transverse magneticfield.The influence of velocity,thermal,and concentration slip is also investigated.The governing equations are coupled non-linear partial differential equations,which have been converted via similarity transformation into a set of ordinary differential equations.The resultantsystem of non-linear ordinary differential equations has been solved numerically with the helpof the“MATLAb”bVP4C Solver.Results are presented graphically to analyze the effects ofvarious physical parameters discovered in the problem such as Hartmann number(M),Forchheimer number(Fr),Grashof number(Gr),solutal Grashof number(Gc),suction parameter(S),porosity parameter(el),dimensionless velocity slip(Sv),Prandtl number(Pr),dimensionless thermal slip(St),space-dependent heat source/sink parameter(eA1),temperature-dependent heat source/sink(eb)1),Eckert number(Ec),Schmidt number(Sc),chemical reaction parameter(g),unsteadiness parameter(A),and dimensionless concentration slip(Sc)on non-dimensionalvelocity ec0ðhÞ,temperature zðhÞ,and concentration efðhÞprofiles.The influence of these parameters on skin-friction coefficient(C)f),Nusselt number(Nu)x),and Sherwood number(Sh)x)areexpressed in tabular form.It is observed that an enhancement in Fr and el results in the declination of the velocity profile.There is an enhancement in temperature with an increment in theeA)1 and eb)1.The physical representation of flow characteristics that appeared in the problem ispresented using various graphs to depict real-world applications in industrial and engineeringoperations.The results were compared to previous studies,revealing that the two are in goodagreement.The novelty of the present investigation is:To interpre

The present study aims to perform computational simulations of twodimensional(2D)hemodynamics of unsteady blood flow via an inclined overlapping stenosed artery employing the Casson fluid model to discuss the hemorheological properties in the arterial region.A uniform magnetic field is applied to the blood flow in the radial direction as the magneto-hemodynamics effect is considered.The entropy generation is discussed using the second law of thermodynamics.The influence of different shape parameters is explored,which are assumed to have varied shapes(spherical,brick,cylindrical,platelet,and blade).The Crank-Nicolson scheme solves the equations and boundary conditions governing the flow.For a given critical height of the stenosis,the key hemodynamic variables such as velocity,wall shear stress(WSS),temperature,flow rate,and heat transfer coefficient are computed.

Microstructures of co-axially folded vein segments and crenulation cleavage： Evidence for dissolution phenomena in the Chamba Thrust Sheet, western Himalayas

The metasediments in the Chamba region experienced three phases of deformation: DF1, DF2 and DF3.Folded quartz veins are co-folded with the F2 crenulation folds. Their geometric and tectonic significance is studied by microstructures and shortening adjacent to the discrete crenulation cleavage, S2. Microstructures of folded vein segments, their geometric changes and truncation to cleavage (S2) are mainly due to pressure-solution phenomena and the estimated volume loss from reconstructed vein segments range from 16 to 25.5%,which is closely related to volume decrease (26%) calculated from the polydeformed slates of North Wales areas.

Variation in the Flaring Potential of Different Sunspot Groups During Different Phases of Solar Cycles 23 and 24

In this present study,we have analyzed different types of X-ray solar flares(C,M,and X classes)coming out from different classes of sunspot groups(SSGs).The data which we have taken under this study cover the duration of 24 yr from 1996 to 2019.During this,we observed a total of 15015 flares(8417 in SC-23 and 6598 in SC-24)emitted from a total of 33780 active regions(21746 in SC-23 and 12034 in SC-24)with sunspot only.We defined the flaring potential or flare-production potential as the ratio of the total number of flares produced from a particular type of SSG to the total number of the same-class SSGs observed on the solar surface.Here we studied yearly changes in the flaring potential of different McIntosh class groups of sunspots in different phases of SC-23 and 24.In addition,we investigated yearly variations in the potential of producing flares by different SSGs(A,b,C,D,E,F,and H)during different phases(ascending,maximum,descending,and minimum)of SC-23 and 24.These are our findings:(1)D,E,and F SSGs have the potential of producing flares≥8 times greater than A,b,C and H SSGs;(2)The larger and more complex D,E,and F SSGs produced nearly 80%of flares in SC-23 and 24;(3)The A,b,C and H SSGs,which are smaller and simpler,produced only 20%of flares in SC-23 and 24;(4)The biggest and most complex SSGs of F-class have flaring potential 1.996 and 3.443 per SSG in SC-23 and 24,respectively.(5)The potential for producing flares in each SSG is higher in SC-24 than in SC-23,although SC-24 is a weaker cycle than SC-23.(6)The alterations in the number of flares(C+M+X)show different time profiles than the alterations in sunspot numbers during SC-23 and 24,with several peaks.(7)The SSGs of C,D,E,and H-class have the highest flaring potential in the descending phase of both SC-23 and 24.(8)F-class SSGs have the highest flaring potential in the descending phase of SC-23 but also in the maximum phase of SC-24.

Echocardiographic predictors and associated outcomes of multiple vegetations in infective endocarditis:A pilot study

bACkGROUND Infective endocarditis(IE)is a life-threatening infection with an annual mortality of 40%.Embolic events reported in up to 80%of patients.Vegetations of>10 mm size are associated with increased embolic events and poor prognosis.There is a paucity of literature on the association of multiple vegetations with outcome.AIM To study the echocardiographic(ECHO)features and outcomes associated with the presence of multiple vegetations.METHODS In this retrospective,single-center,cohort study patients diagnosed with IE were recruited from June 2017 to June 2019.A total of 84 patients were diagnosed to have IE,of whom 67 with vegetation were identified.baseline demographic,clinical,laboratory,and ECHO parameters were reviewed.Outcomes that were studied included recurrent admission,embolic phenomenon,and mortality.RESULTS Twenty-three(34%)patients were noted to have multiple vegetations,13(56.5%)were male and 10(43.5%)were female.The mean age of these patients was 50.Eight(35%)had a prior episode of IE.ECHO features of moderate to severe valvular regurgitation[odds ratio(OR)=4],presence of pacemaker lead(OR=4.8),impaired left ventricle(LV)relaxation(OR=4),and elevated pulmonary artery systolic pressure(PASP)(OR=2.2)are associated with higher odds of multiple vegetations.Of these moderate to severe valvular regurgitation(P=0.028),pacemaker lead(P=0.039)and impaired relaxation(P=0.028)were statistically significant.These patients were noted to have an increased association of recurrent admissions(OR=3.6),recurrent bacteremia(OR=2.4),embolic phenomenon(OR=2.5),intensive care unit stay(OR=2.8),hypotension(OR=2.1),surgical intervention(OR=2.8)and device removal(OR=4.8).Of this device removal(P=0.039)and recurrent admissions(P=0.017)were statistically significant.CONCLUSION This study highlights the associations of ECHO predictors and outcomes in patients with IE having multiple vegetations.ECHO features of moderate to severe regurgitation,presence of pacemaker lead,impaired LV relaxation,and elevated PASP and outcomes

Fluorescence imaging is a non-invasive and highly sensitive bioimaging technique that has shown remarkable strides in plant science. It enables real-time monitoring and analysis of biological and pathological processes in plants by labeling specific molecular or cellular structures with fluorescent probes. However, tissue scattering and phytochrome interference have been obstacles for conventional fluorescence imaging of plants in the ultraviolet and visible spectrum, resulting in unsatisfactory imaging quality. Fortunately, advances in near-infrared(NIR) fluorescence imaging technology(650-900 nm) offer superior spatial-temporal resolution and reduced tissue scattering, which is sure to improve plant imaging quality. In this review, we summarize recent progress in the development of NIR fluorescence imaging probes and their applications for in vivo plant imaging and the identification of plant-related biomolecules. We hope this review provides a new perspective for plant science research and highlights NIR fluorescence imaging as a powerful tool for analyzing plant physiology, adaptive mechanisms, and coping with environmental stress in the near future.

Cavity-agnostic acoustofluidic manipulations enabled by guided flexural waves on a membrane acoustic waveguide actuator

This article presents an in-depth exploration of the acoustofluidic capabilities of guided flexural waves(GFWs)generated by a membrane acoustic waveguide actuator(MAWA).by harnessing the potential of GFWs,cavity-agnostic advanced particle manipulation functions are achieved,unlocking new avenues for microfluidic systems and lab-on-a-chip development.The localized acoustofluidic effects of GFWs arising from the evanescent nature of the acoustic fields they induce inside a liquid medium are numerically investigated to highlight their unique and promising characteristics.Unlike traditional acoustofluidic technologies,the GFWs propagating on the MAWA’s membrane waveguide allow for cavity-agnostic particle manipulation,irrespective of the resonant properties of the fluidic chamber.Moreover,the acoustofluidic functions enabled by the device depend on the flexural mode populating the active region of the membrane waveguide.Experimental demonstrations using two types of particles include in-sessile-droplet particle transport,mixing,and spatial separation based on particle diameter,along with streaming-induced counter-flow virtual channel generation in microfluidic PDMS channels.These experiments emphasize the versatility and potential applications of the MAWA as a microfluidic platform targeted at lab-on-a-chip development and showcase the MAWA’s compatibility with existing microfluidic systems.

Effectiveness of hybrid ensemble machine learning models for landslide susceptibility analysis:Evidence from Shimla district of North-west Indian Himalayan region

The Indian Himalayan region is frequently experiencing climate change-induced landslides.Thus,landslide susceptibility assessment assumes greater significance for lessening the impact of a landslide hazard.This paper makes an attempt to assess landslide susceptibility in Shimla district of the northwest Indian Himalayan region.It examined the effectiveness of random forest(RF),multilayer perceptron(MLP),sequential minimal optimization regression(SMOreg)and bagging ensemble(b-RF,bSMOreg,b-MLP)models.A landslide inventory map comprising 1052 locations of past landslide occurrences was classified into training(70%)and testing(30%)datasets.The site-specific influencing factors were selected by employing a multicollinearity test.The relationship between past landslide occurrences and influencing factors was established using the frequency ratio method.The effectiveness of machine learning models was verified through performance assessors.The landslide susceptibility maps were validated by the area under the receiver operating characteristic curves(ROC-AUC),accuracy,precision,recall and F1-score.The key performance metrics and map validation demonstrated that the bRF model(correlation coefficient:0.988,mean absolute error:0.010,root mean square error:0.058,relative absolute error:2.964,ROC-AUC:0.947,accuracy:0.778,precision:0.819,recall:0.917 and F-1 score:0.865)outperformed the single classifiers and other bagging ensemble models for landslide susceptibility.The results show that the largest area was found under the very high susceptibility zone(33.87%),followed by the low(27.30%),high(20.68%)and moderate(18.16%)susceptibility zones.The factors,namely average annual rainfall,slope,lithology,soil texture and earthquake magnitude have been identified as the influencing factors for very high landslide susceptibility.Soil texture,lineament density and elevation have been attributed to high and moderate susceptibility.Thus,the study calls for devising suitable landslide mitigation measures in the study area.Structural meas

background:Ayurvedic system of medicine is well established for prevention and treatment of renal problems.There are vast number of medicinal plants mentioned in Ayurvedic system of medicine,including Piper attenuatum buch.-Ham.ex Miq.,which has been known to exhibit diuretic properties.Objective:To investigate possible mechanism and diuretic activity of ethanol extract of P.attenuatum leaves.Methods:Present study reports an in vivo diuretic activity of ethanol extracts of P.attenuatum leaves.Twenty-four Sprague-Dawley male rats were deprived from food and water for 20 h,followed by being divided into four groups to receive normal saline,Furosemide,and two doses of the ethanol extract,respectively.Further,the ethanol extract were subjected for prelimnary phytochemical screening test,and analytical investigation was performed via high-performance thin-layer chromatography(HPTLC),followed by effectiveness exploration of putative bioactive compounds from P.attenuatum against human carbonic anhydrase(hCA)enzyme using molecular docking tool.Results:During phytochemicals screening,several groups of compounds such as amides,terpenoids,proteins,flavonoids,and glycosides have been identified.Further,HPTLC reveals presence of carbohydrates,proteins,amino acids,steroids,alkaloids,flavonoids,tannins,glycosides,and terpenoids.Significant diuretic action was revealed for both 200 mg/kg bw and 400 mg/kg bw of ethanol extract of P.attenuatum leaves.Interestingly,molecular docking analysis demonstrated greater binding affinity of compounds such as Cepharadione A,Nor-cepharadione b,Galbelgin,Crotepoxide,and Pipoxide chlorohydrin out of total 23 studied compounds against hCA isoforms(a key biomarker for diuretic)and score is comparable with standard drug Acetazolamide.Conclusion:It was concluded from the present studies that ethanol extract of P.attenuatum leaves exhibits signifi-cant diuretic activity.The activity may be correlated due to the presence of Cepharadione A,Norcepharadione b,Galbelgin,Crotepoxide,and Pipoxide chlorohyd

The solution to evolution equations has developed an independent theory within nonlinear analysis dealing with the existence and approximation of such solution （ fixed point） of pseudocontractive operators and its variants. The object is to introduce a perturbed iteration method for proving the convergence of sequence of Lipschitzian pseudocontractive mapping using approximate fixed point technique. This iteration can be ued for nonlinear operators which are more general than Lipschitzian pseudocontractive operator and bruck iteration fails for proving their convergence. Our results generalize the results of Chidume and Zegeye.
