A tri-specific hybrid with delayed pigment gland morphogenesis was obtained by crossing the amphi- diploid of (G. arboreum×G. bickii) F1 and an upland cotton germplasm with pigment gland genotype of Gl2Gl2gl3gl3. The tri-specific hybrid was a typical interspecific hybrid with high sterile, and the chromosome configuration at meiosis MI of PMC was 2n = 52 = 41.04Ⅰ+ 4.54Ⅱ + 0.57Ⅲ + 0.04. The crossover value of bivalent was 1.19. Two fertile plants with objective character were obtained in bC8 population by continuously backcrossing with Gl2Gl2gl3gl3 as recurrent parent to the tri-specific hybrid, and a new upland cotton germplasm, named AbH-0318, with delayed pigment gland morphogenesis trait was developed through selfing and screening. The pigment gland trait of AbH-0318 was stable, and there were almost no pigment glands observed in the dormant seeds, although there were a few pigment glands confined to cotyledon edges, and the gossypol content in the dormant seeds was 0.017% only, being a typical low gossypol cotton type. However, a large quantity of pigment glands emerged in cotyledons and other main organs of plant after seed germination, and the gossypol contents in the upper parts of the plant were similar to that of ordinary glanded cotton types. Genetic analysis demonstrated that the delayed pigment gland morphogenesis trait of this germplasm was controlled by the interaction of the genes located in two pig- ment gland loci, Gl2 and Gl3. Among them, the gene located in locus of Gl2, derived from ***, was dominance to up- land cotton pigment gland alleles, Gl2 and gl2 , but was reces- sive epistatic to another glanded gene Gl3, which was named Gl2 temporarily. While the gene located in the locus of Gl3 b was a recessive gene come from upland cotton.

The xNi_(0.83)Co_(0.15)Cu_(0.02)Fe_(1.9)O_(4-δ)+PbZr_(0.52)Ti_(0.48)O_(3)(PZT)particulate magneto ferroelectric composites with x=0,0.1,0.2,0.3,0.4,0.5 and 0.6 mole fraction were prepared by conventional ceramic double sintering *** presence of two phases(perovskite structure of ferroelectric phase and spinal structure of ferromagnetic phase)was confirmed by X-ray *** magnetoelectric(ME)property of the particulate composites was determined at room temperature as a function of intensity of magnetic *** temperature variation of the longitudinal modulus(L)and the internal friction(Q−1)of these particulate composites at 104.3 kHz was studied in the wide temperature range 30-420℃.The temperature variation of the longitudinal modulus in each composition of these particulate composites showed two abrupt *** minimum coincided with the ferroelectric-paraelectric Curie transition temperature(θE)and the other with the ferromagnetic-paramagnetic Curie transition temperature(θM).The internal friction measurement also showed two sharp peaks in each composition corresponding to those temperatures where the minima were noticed in the temperature variation of the longitudinal modulus behaviour.

The development of a bifunctional photocatalyst that can be utilized for both energy conversion and envi-ronmental remediation is of great practical *** addition,an S-scheme charge transfer process can assist a photocatalyst in efficiently separating photoexcited electrons and holes while maintaining the strong reducibility and oxidizability of the former and the latter,*** developed a bifunctional S-scheme hybrid photocatalyst comprising CdS nanorods and biOIO_(3)(bIO) nanosheets for efficient antibi-otic degradation and cocatalyst-and sacrificial reagent-free CO_(2) *** combination of visible-light-responsive one-dimensional(1D)CdS and UV-light-responsive 2D bIO resulted in a CdS/bIO hybrid photocatalyst with effective 1D/2D(line)interfacial contact and a broadened optical absorption ***,the CdS/bIO hybrid exhibited exceptional diclofenac degradation and mineralization as well as outstanding CO_(2) reduction activity for CO production,with 95.4%CO selectivity over H_(2)*** exceptional performance of the hybrid catalyst is primarily attributed to the accelerated photoexcited charge transfer caused by the 1D/2D line interfacial contact and the high charge separation and strong redox power of the separated charges,both of which stem from the effective S-scheme charge transfer *** addition,photocorrosion of CdS was substantially mitigated,resulting in the high photocat-alytic performance of the hybrid catalyst even after repeated test *** study provides insight into the rational design of bifunctional S-scheme hybrid photocatalysts for CO_(2) reduction and pollutant degra-dation.

Honne oil(tamanu)(H),a non-edible vegetable oil is native for northwards of Northern Marianas islands and the Ryukyu Islands in southern Japan and westward throughout *** has remained as an untapped new possible source of alternative fuel that can be used as diesel engine *** pertaining to use of vegetable oil in diesel engine with kerosene and dimethyl carbonate(DMC)is *** present research is aimed to investigate experimentally the performance,exhaust emission and combustion characteristics of a direct injection(DI)diesel engine,typically used in agricultural sector,over the entire load range,when fuelled with neat diesel(ND)and blends of diesel fuel(D)/DMC/H/kerosene(K).DMC/D/H/K blends have a potential to improve the performance and emissions and to be an alternative to *** have been conducted when fuelled with H20(20%H+80%D),HK(20%H+40%K+40%D)and HKD5(20%H+40%K+35D+5%DMC)to HKD15 in steps of 5%DMC keeping H and K percentages *** emissions(CO,HC and smoke density(SD))of fuel blend HKD15 are found to be lowest,with SD dropping *** NOx level is slightly higher with HKD5 to HKD15 as compared to *** brake thermal efficiency of HKD5 to HKD15 is same and it is higher than that of *** is a good trade off between NOx and *** cylinder pressure and premixed combustion phase increases as DMC content increase.

The Schottky barrier junction parameters and structural properties of Zr/p-GaN Schottky diode are explored at various annealing *** analysis showed that the barrier height（bH）of the Zr/pGa N Schottky diode increases with annealing at 400°C（0.92 eV（I–V）/1.09 e V（C–V））compared to the asdeposited one（0.83 eV（I–V）/0.93 eV（C–V））.However,the bH decreases after annealing at 500°***,at different annealing temperatures,the series resistance and bH are assessed by Cheung’s functions and their values ***,the interface state density（NSS/of the diode decreases after annealing at 400°C and then somewhat rises upon annealing at 500°*** reveals that the maximum bH is obtained at 400°C,and thus the optimum annealing temperature is 400°C for the *** XPS and XRD analysis revealed that the increase in bH may be attributed to the creation of Zr–N phases with increasing annealing up to 400°*** bH reduces for the diode annealed at 500°C,which may be due to the formation of Ga–Zr phases at the *** AFM measurements reveal that the overall surface roughness of the Zr film is quite smooth during rapid annealing process.

The present work examines the use of a non-edible vegetable oil namely honne oil,a new possible source of alternative fuel for diesel engine.A Direct Injection(DI)diesel engine typically used in agricultural sector was operated on Neat Diesel(ND)and neat honne oil(H100).At maximum load,with H100,brake thermal efficiency and NOx emission decreased where as emissions like CO,HC,smoke opacity *** H100,peak cylinder pressure and maximum rate of pressure rise decreased compared to *** H100,occurrence of peak pressure is away from top dead center compared to *** H100,ignition delay and combustion duration increased compared to ND.

Perturbations in Earth’s Atmosphere over An Indian Region during the Total Solar Eclipse on 22 July 2009

During a total solar eclipse(TSE)on 22 July 2009,atmospheric perturbations were monitored from the surface to thermosphere to understand TSE’s impact on the meteorological(temperature,relative humidity,wind speed,and wind direction)and chemical(O3 and NOx)parameters around Kadapa(14.28°N,78.42°E),a tropical semi-arid region of *** this purpose,an experiment was conducted at Yogi Vemana University Campus,Kadapa,India,to measure the temperature,wind speed,wind direction,and concentrations of ozone(O3),NO,NO2,and NOx by using the automatic weather station(AWS)and O3 *** the eclipse day(22 July 2009),the surface observations at Kadapa showed a reduction in temperature(about 1.1℃)because of the solar *** of the thermal,dynamical(wind),and chemical parameters on the TSE day with control days[preceding(21 July 2009)and succeeding(23 July 2009)the TSE]illustrated the influence of solar *** the eclipse period,the O3 mixing ratio decreased,while NO2 and NOx increased;however,NO remained *** addition,radio occultation(RO)temperature profiles from Constellation Observing System for Meteorology,Ionosphere,and Climate(COSMIC)/Formosat Satellite Mission(FORMOSAT-3)and Thermosphere,Ionosphere,and Mesosphere Energetics and Dynamics(TIMED)satellites were utilized to understand the impact of TSE on dynamics of the middle and upper atmosphere from tropopause to the *** vertical resolution COSMIC observations revealed that during the solar eclipse,tropopause was cooler with twin peaks(double tropopause).The lower thermosphere between 110 and 130 km became warmer during the TSE,which might be caused by the dynamical response of the atmosphere in this region to the solar *** experimental data have provided very fine-scale variations of the atmospheric parameters both in time and height and also constituted a new set of results on TSE for further research.
