biodiversity Assessment of Avifauna in the Forest Reservation of Aurora State college of Technology (AScOT), Philippines

The research study was conducted to assess and quantify the current status of avifauna biodiversity assets of Aurora State college of Technology’s Forest Reservation in baler, Aurora, Philippines. Assessment of avifaunal diversity was undertaken by traversing the four established circular plots having a radius of 125 meters or 250 meters diameters each as permanent monitoring stations. Study revealed a total number of 151 Individual species, classified into 23 genera and 21 families. Eighteen of these species are endemic while the remaining five were fully migrated birds. All birds observed were classified as Least concern (Lc) species according to the International Union for conservation of Nature’s Red List of Threatened Species and the updated list of the birds of the World online. Its abundance, richness and diversity index were calculated using Shannon Diversity Index (H') while Pielou’s evenness (J') for distribution of species. Forest reservation of AScOT has more even (0.756 J') and moderate diversity (2.812 H') observation on avifauna in general. However, this avian population evaluation was threatened into a verge of extinction due to natural and anthropological threats that causes forest deforestation. Such deforestation of habitat causes dwindling of wildlife territory leading to the scarcity of bird’s population. Thus, the assessment was conducted to aid AScOT administration find significant plans to ensure sustainable conservation and protection of the remaining avifauna species in the reservation area.

Spinal cord injury(ScI)is one of the most devastating traumas,and the aberrant proliferation of astrocytes usually causes neurological ***,the mechanism underlying astrocyte over-proliferation after ScI is ***2c(glutamate ionotropic receptor type 2c)plays an essential role in cell *** bioinformatic analysis indicated that Grin2c and ca^(2+)transport functions were inhibited in astrocytes after *** of Grin2c stimulated astrocyte proliferation by inhibiting the ca^(2+)/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase 2b(caMK2b)pathway in *** screening different inflammatory factors,interleukin 1α(IL1α)was further found to inhibit Grin2c/ca^(2+)/caMK2b and enhance astrocyte proliferation in an oxidative damage *** of IL1αusing neutralizing antibody resulted in increased Grin2c expression and the inhibition of astrocyte proliferation ***,this study suggests that IL1αpromotes astrocyte proliferation by suppressing the Grin2c/ca^(2+)/caMK2b pathway after ScI,revealing a novel pathological mechanism of astrocyte proliferation,and may provide potential targets for ScI repair.

background Pediatric post coronavirus disease 2019(cOVID-19)condition(PPcc)is a heterogeneous syndrome,which can significantly affect the daily lives of *** study aimed to identify clinically meaningful phenotypes in children with PPcc,to better characterize and treat this *** Participants were children with physician-diagnosed PPcc,referred to the academic hospital Amsterdam UMc in the Netherlands between November 2021 and March *** factors and information on post-cOVID symptoms,comorbidities,and impact on daily life were *** clusters were identified using an unsupervised and unbiased approach for mixed data *** Analysis of 111 patients(aged 3–18 years)revealed three distinct clusters within *** 1(n=62,median age=15 years)predominantly consisted of girls(74.2%).These patients suffered relatively more from exercise intolerance,dyspnea,and smell *** 2(n=33,median age=13 years)contained patients with an even gender distribution(51.5%girls).They suffered from relatively more sleep problems,memory loss,gastrointestinal symptoms,and *** 3(n=16,median age=11 years)had a higher proportion of boys(75.0%),suffered relatively more from fever,had significantly fewer symptoms(median of 5 symptoms compared to 8 and 10 for clusters 1 and 2 respectively),and experienced a lower impact on daily *** This study identified three distinct clinical PPcc phenotypes,with variations in sex,age,symptom patterns,and impact on daily *** findings highlight the need for further research to understand the potentially diverse underlying mechanisms contributing to post-cOVID symptoms in children.

The application of extracellular vesicles,particularly exosomes(EXs),is rapidly expanding in the field of medicine,owing to their remarkable properties as natural carriers of biological *** study investigates utilization of exosomes derived from stromal cells of tumor adjacent normal tissues(NAF-EXs)for personalized medicine,which can be derived at the time of diagnosis by endoscopic ***,we show that exosomes(EXs)derived from NAFs demonstrate differential bio-physical characteristics,efficient cellular internalization,drug loading efficiency,pancreatic tumor targeting and delivery of ***-derived EXs(NAF-EXs)were used for loading ormeloxifene(ORM),a potent anti-cancer and desmoplasia inhibitor as a model *** found that ORM maintains normal fibroblast cell phenotype and renders them incompatible to be triggered for a cAF-like phenotype,which may be due to regulation of ca^(2+) influx in fibroblast ***-EXs-ORM effectively blocked oncogenic signaling pathways involved in desmoplasia and epithelial mesenchymal transition(EMT)and repressed tumor growth in xenograft mouse *** conclusion,our data suggests preferential tropism of NAF-EXs for PDAc tumors,thus imply feasibility of developing a novel personalized medicine for PDAc patients using autologous NAF-EXs for improved therapeutic outcome of anti-cancer ***,it provides the opportunity of utilizing this biological scaffold for effective therapeutics in combination with standard therapeutic regimen.

Invariant natural killer T(iNKT)cells are part of the family of unconventional T cells,and they recognize glycolipid antigens presented on the MHc class I like molecule cD1^([1]).In humans there are five cD1 molecules named cD1a to cD1e,whereas mice use only cD1d for lipid ***,iNKT cells can elicit both cytotoxicity similarly to conventional cD8 T cells and secrete cytokines that influence the adaptive immune response including providing direct T cell help to b cells^([2]).In the context of tumors,they can use both release of granzyme b and use Fas-mediated mechanisms for killing of tumor *** iNKT cells use a restricted TcR repertoire and cD1 molecules are non-heterogenous the risk of graft vs host disease is limited and thus these T cells have been an attractive option for off the shelf immunotherapy to treat cancer^([3]).

Piezoelectric constant temperature dependence in strained [111]-oriented zinc-blende MQW-SOAs

Here,we present a study of the effective piezoelectric constant(e_(14_(e)))temperature dependence in strained[111]-oriented zinc-blende quantum wells(QWs)embedded within a semiconductor optical amplifier(SOA).We determined e_(14_(e)) using a method that was insensitive to the segregation phenomenon and to the temperature dependence of the bandgap energy,which required neither fitting parameters nor temperature-dependent expressions for energy and out-of-plane effective masses of electrons and heavy *** e_(14_(e))=−0.0534±0.0040 c·m^(−2) at 23°c was obtained for an SOA with 1.2 nm[111]-oriented strained In0.687Ga0.313As/In0.807Ga0.193As0.304P0.696 *** previously published research,where e_(14_(e)) magnitude increased as temperature rised,we extracted an e_(14_(e)) magnitude that decreased as temperature increased.

background Schistosomiasis is highly endemic in sub-Saharan Africa and frequently imported to Europe. Male urogenital manifestations are often neglected. We aimed to ascertain the prevalence of genitourinary clinical signs and symptoms among long-term African migrants in a non-endemic European country using a serology *** We carried out a prospective, community-based cross-sectional study of adult male migrants from sub-Saharan Africa living in *** serology tests and microscopic urine examinations were carried out, and clinical data were obtained from an electronic medical record search and a structured *** We included 388 adult males, mean age 43.5 years [Standard Deviation (SD) = 12.0, range: 18–76]. The median time since migration to the European Union was 17 [Interquartile range (IQR): 11–21] years. The most frequent country of origin was Senegal (N = 179, 46.1%). Of the 338, 147 (37.6%) tested positive forSchistosoma. Parasite eggs were present in the urine of only 1.3%. Nine genitourinary clinical items were significantly associated with positiveSchistosoma serology results: pelvic pain (45.2%;OR = 1.57, 95%cI: 1.0–2.4), pain on ejaculation (14.5%;OR = 1.85, 95%cI: 1.0–3.5), dyspareunia (12.4%;OR = 2.45, 95%cI: 1.2–5.2), erectile dysfunction (9.5%;OR = 3.10, 95%cI: 1.3–7.6), self-reported episodes of infertility (32.1%;OR = 1.69, 95%cI: 1.0–2.8), haematuria (55.2%;OR = 2.37, 95%cI: 1.5–3.6), dysuria (52.1%;OR = 2.01, 95%cI: 1.3–3.1), undiagnosed syndromic STIs (5.4%), and orchitis (20.7%;OR = 1.81, 95%cI: 1.0–3.1). clinical signs tended to *** Urogenital clinical signs and symptoms are prevalent among male African long-term migrants with a positiveSchistosoma serology results.
