Efficacy of adjuvant mitomycin-c and triamcinoloneimpregnated nasal packing for endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy

●AIM:To compare the success rate and complications of adjuvant use of mitomycin c and triamcinoloneimpregnated biodegradable nasal packing(TAbP)in endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy(DcR).And to evaluate the efficacy of combining intraoperative mitomycin c and TAbP for endoscopic DcR.●METHODS:A total of 198 eyes of 148 patients who underwent endoscopic DcR for acquired nasolacrimal duct obstruction were retrospectively *** patients were randomly divided into three groups:Group A included patients treated without intraoperative mitomycin c but with TAbP,Group b included patients treated without triamcinolone but with intraoperative mitomycin c and normal saline-impregnated nasal packing,and Group c included patients treated with intraoperative mitomycin c and TAbP.●RESULTS:The results revealed no significant difference in the overall success rates between Groups A(86.8%)and b(89.2%;P=0.377).However,Group c(97.5%)showed a significantly higher overall success rate than Groups A and *** incidence of granulomas was significantly lower in group c(5%)than in Groups A(20.8%)and b(15.2%;P=0.009).Other complications,such as crust,synechiae,and revision surgery,did not differ significantly among the three groups.●cONcLUSION:The combination of intraoperative mitomycin c and TAbP effectively prevents granulomas and enhances surgical success ***,there is no statistically significant difference observed between the use of mitomycin c or TAbP alone.

Gravity models given by higher-order scalar curvature corrections are believed to bear important consequences. Einstein-bel-Robinson (EbR) gravity with quartic curvature modification motivated Sajadi et al. to explore static spherically symmetric black hole solutions using perturbative methods. In this study, inspired by their work, we investigate AdS black hole shadows in EbR gravity and demonstrate how the gravity parameter alters the energy emission rate. Finally, we address the same problem in the presence of plasma, because the black holes are thought to be surrounded by a medium that changes the geodesic of photons.

Semi-analytical investigation of heat transfer in a porous convective radiative moving longitudinal fin exposed to magnetic field in the presence of a shape-dependent trihybrid nanofluid

The thermal examination of a non-integer-ordered mobile fin with a magnetism in the presence of a trihybrid nanofluid(Fe_3O_4-Au-Zn-blood) is carried out. Three types of nanoparticles, each having a different shape, are considered. These shapes include spherical(Fe_3O_4), cylindrical(Au), and platelet(Zn) configurations. The combination approach is utilized to evaluate the physical and thermal characteristics of the trihybrid and hybrid nanofluids, excluding the thermal conductivity and dynamic viscosity. These two properties are inferred by means of the interpolation method based on the volume fraction of nanoparticles. The governing equation is transformed into a dimensionless form, and the Adomian decomposition Sumudu transform method(ADSTM) is adopted to solve the conundrum of a moving fin immersed in a trihybrid nanofluid. The obtained results agree well with those numerical simulation results, indicating that this research is reliable. The influence of diverse factors on the thermal overview for varying noninteger values of γ is analyzed and presented in graphical representations. Furthermore, the fluctuations in the heat transfer concerning the pertinent parameters are studied. The results show that the heat flux in the presence of the combination of spherical, cylindrical, and platelet nanoparticles is higher than that in the presence of the combination of only spherical and cylindrical nanoparticles. The temperature at the fin tip increases by 0.705 759% when the value of the Peclet number increases by 400%, while decreases by 11.825 13% when the value of the Hartman number increases by 400%.

Urotensin-I(UI)is a peptide belonging to the corticotropin-releasing hormone family,produced in the urophysis of *** investigation was undertaken to examine the effect of UI on the hypothalamo-hypophyseal-ovarian axis in the Mozambique tilapia,a cichlid *** the first experiment,administration of UI(2μg/100μL saline)for 22 days caused a significant reduction in the number of follicles at stages I,II,III(previtellogenic),IV(vitellogenic),and V(preovulatory),concomitant with a significant increase in the percent atresia of follicles at stages II,III,and IV than in *** the pituitary,gonadotropin-releasing hormone(GnRH)-positive fibres were detected in the proximal pars distalis(PPD)in both controls and UI-treated fish;however,there was a significant reduction in the intensity and percent area of GnRH-immunoreactive fibres in fish treated with UI compared with *** serum luteinizing hormone(LH)level was significantly lower,whereas a significant rise in the serum level of cortisol was noticed in UI-treated fish compared with *** the second experiment,treatment with a low dose of UI(10 mM)did not affect the number of AcTH-secreting cells in vitro,but the number of these cells was significantly higher in high-dose UI(50 mM)-treated pituitaries compared to ***,the present investigation reveals for the first time that the treatment of UI affects the follicular development process through the downregulation of the GnRH-LH axis and activation of the pituitary-interrenal pathway in teleosts.

The role of extracorporeal life support and timing of repair in infants with congenital diaphragmatic hernia

Extracorporeal life support(EcLS)serves as a rescue therapy for patients with congenital diaphragmatic hernia(cDH)and severe cardiopulmonary failure,and only half of these patients survive to *** costly intervention has a significant complication risk and is reserved for patients with the most severe disease physiology refractory to maximal cardiopulmonary *** contraindications to EcLS do exist such as coagulopathy,lethal chromosomal or congenital anomaly,very preterm birth,or very low birth weight,but many of these limits are being evaluated through further *** guidelines from the past decade vary in recommendations for EcLS use in patients with cDH but this therapy appears to have a survival benefit in the most severe subset of *** outcomes have been observed for patients treated at high-volume *** review details the evolving literature surrounding management paradigms for timing of cDH repair for patients receiving preoperative *** recent data support early repair following cannulation to avoid non-repair which is uniformly fatal in this *** EcLS runs are associated with decreased survival,and patient physiology should guide EcLS weaning and eventual decannulation rather than limiting patients to arbitrary run *** of care across centers is a major focus to limit unnecessary costs and improve short-term and long-term outcomes for these complex patients.

Slits have been widely used in laser-plasma interactions as plasma optical components for generating high-harmonic light and controlling laser-driven particle ***,we propose and demonstrate that periodic thin slits can be regarded as a new breed of optical elements for efficient focusing and guiding of intense laser *** fundamental physics of intense laser interaction with thin slits is studied,and it is revealed that relativistic effects can lead to enhanced laser focusing far beyond the pure diffractive focusing *** addition,the interaction of an intense laser pulse with periodic thin slits makes it feasible to achieve multifold enhancement in both laser intensity and energy transfer efficiency compared with conventional *** results provide a novel method for manipulating ultra-intense laser pulses and should be of interest for many laser-based applications.

Thermal properties and high-temperature ablation of high-entropy (Ti_(0.25)V_(0.25)Zr_(0.25)Hf_(0.25))b_(2) coating on graphite substrate

An entropy-stabilized multicomponent ultrahigh-temperature ceramic(UHTc)coating,(Ti_(0.25)V_(0.25)Zr_(0.25)Hf_(0.25))b_(2),on a graphite substrate was in-situ sintered by spark plasma sintering(SPs)from constituent transition metal diboride ***(Ti_(0.25)V_(0.25)Zr_(0.25)Hf_(0.25))b_(2) coating had a hardness of 31.2±2.1 GPa and resisted 36.9 GPa of stress before delamination,as observed at the *** temperature-dependent thermal properties of the multicomponent diboride(Ti_(0.25)V_(0.25)Zr_(0.25)Hf_(0.25))b_(2) were obtained by molecular dynamics(MD)simulations driven by a machine learning force field(MLFF)trained on density functional theory(DFT)*** thermal conductivity,density,heat capacity,and coefficient of thermal expansion obtained by the MD simulations were used in time-dependent thermal stress finite element model(FEM)*** low thermal conductivity(component diboride coupled with its similar coefficient of thermal expansion to that of graphite indicated that stresses of less than 10 GPa were generated at the interface at high temperatures,and therefore,the coating was mechanically resistant to the thermal stress induced during *** experiments at 220℃ showed that the multicomponent diboride coating was resistant to thermal stresses with no visible cracking or *** ablation mechanisms were mechanical denudation and evaporation of b_(2)O_(5) and light V-Ti oxides,which caused a decrease in the mass and thickness of the coating and resulted in mass and linear ablation rates of-0.51 mg·s^(-1) and -1.38μm·s^(-1),respectively,after 60 *** findings demonstrated the thermal and mechanical stability of multicomponent entropy-stabilized diborides as coatings for carbon materials in engineering components under extreme environments.

The cUL3A–LFH1–Ubc15 ubiquitin ligase complex mediates SHORT VEGETATIVE PHASE degradation to accelerate flowering at high ambient temperature

Ambient temperature affects flowering time in plants,and the MADS-box transcription factor SHORT VEGETATIVE PHASE(SVP)plays a crucial role in the response to changes in ambient *** protein stability is regulated by the 26S proteasome pathway and decreases at high ambient temperature,but the details of SVP degradation are ***,we show that SVP degradation at high ambient temperature is mediated by the cULLIN3–RING E3 ubiquitin ligase(cRL3)complex in Arabidopsis *** identified a previously uncharacterized protein that interacts with SVP at high ambient temperature and contains a bTb/POZ *** named this protein LATE FLOWERING AT HIGH TEMPERATURE 1(LFH1).Single mutants of LFH1 or cULLIN3A(cUL3A)showed late flowering specifically at 27***1 protein levels increased at high ambient *** found that LFH1 interacts with cUL3A in the cytoplasm and is important for SVP–cUL3A complex *** in cUL3A and/or LFH1 led to increased SVP protein stability at high ambient temperature,suggesting that the cUL3–LFH1 complex functions in SVP *** E2 ubiquitin-conjugating enzymes(Ubcs)using RING-bOX PROTEIN 1(RbX1),a component of the cRL3 complex,as bait identified ***15 mutants also showed late flowering at high ambient *** vitro and in vivo ubiquitination assays using recombinant cUL3A,LFH1,RbX1,and Ubc15 showed that SVP is highly ubiquitinated in an ATP-dependent ***,these results indicate that the degradation of SVP at high ambient temperature is mediated by a cRL3 complex comprising cUL3A,LFH1,and Ubc15.

Rescattering of stimulated Raman side scattering(SRSS)is observed for the first time via two-dimensional(2D)particle-in-cell(PIc)*** construct a theoretical model for the rescattering process,which can predict the region of occurrence of mth-order SRSS and estimate its *** rescattering process is identified by the 2D PIc simulations under typical conditions of a direct-drive inertial confinement fusion *** electrons produced by second-order SRSS propagate nearly perpendicular to the density gradient and gain nearly the same energy as in first-order SRSS,but there is no cascade acceleration to produce superhot *** studies for a wide range of ignition conditions show that SRSS and associated rescatterings are robust and important processes in inertial confinement fusion.
