New analyses of earlier ALMA ob.ervations of oxygen-rich AGb.star EP Aquarii are presented,which complete a previously pub.ished analysis and offer a different interpretation of the morpho-kinematics of the circumstellar *** b.rth of the equatorial density enhancement(EDE)is shown to occur very close to the star where evidence for rotation has b.en *** to the star and where outflows have b.en ob.erved:their interaction with the gas of the nascent EDE is seen to play an important role in the development of the wind and the evolution of its radial velocity from 8 to 10 km s^(-1) on the polar symmetry axis to~2 km s^(-1) at the *** implies complex morpho-kinematics:making reliab.e interpretations with reasonab.e confidence is *** particular,it questions an earlier interpretation implying the presence of a white dwarf companion orb.ting the star at an angular distance of -0″4 from its *** proposes instead an interpretation in terms of a standard mass ejection associated with a shock wave leaving a void of emission in its *** Doppler velocity wings are seen to consist of two components,the upper velocity end of the glob.l wind,reaching ab.ve±12 km s^(-1),and an effective line b.oadening,confined within 200 mas from the center of the star,reaching ab.ve±20 km s^(-1) and interpreted as caused b. the pattern of shock waves resulting from the interaction b.tween stellar pulsation and convective cell partition.

Pollution of rivers is mainly caused b. anthropogenic activities such as discharge of effluent from industrial facilities,maintenance of sewage/effluent treatment plants,and dumping of solid waste on river *** study dealt with the pollution issues of the Cooum River in the well-known city of Chennai in South *** samples from 27 locations were collected and analyzed for 12 elements,including b.,b.and Al,as well as heavy metals such as Pb.Cr,Mn,Fe,Co,Ni,Cu,Zn,and *** samples showed levels of these elements that exceeded World Health Organization *** correlation analysis revealed the inter-dependency among elements,and the contrib.tion of each element b.sed on factor loadings showed its percentage contrib.tion compared to *** samples from six significant locations were chosen for remediation with three algae:Chlorella vulgaris,Scenedesmus dimorphus,and Phormedium *** uptake of pollutants led to the continuous growth of algae during the incub.tion period of 15 d,effectively removing heavy metals from the river *** increasing levels of algal counts and the chlorophyll a content confirmed the algal growth during the incub.tion period,followed b. a declining stage after the incub.tion *** scanning electron microscopic images of algae b.fore and after the remediation showed no remarkab.e modification of morphological *** study showed that the uptake of heavy metals using algae is an effective water pollution remediation measure,making the process practicab.e in the field on a large scale in the near future.

Slits have b.en widely used in laser-plasma interactions as plasma optical components for generating high-harmonic light and controlling laser-driven particle ***,we propose and demonstrate that periodic thin slits can b. regarded as a new b.eed of optical elements for efficient focusing and guiding of intense laser *** fundamental physics of intense laser interaction with thin slits is studied,and it is revealed that relativistic effects can lead to enhanced laser focusing far b.yond the pure diffractive focusing *** addition,the interaction of an intense laser pulse with periodic thin slits makes it feasib.e to achieve multifold enhancement in b.th laser intensity and energy transfer efficiency compared with conventional *** results provide a novel method for manipulating ultra-intense laser pulses and should b. of interest for many laser-b.sed applications.
