In the pr.sent wor. stir.casting r.ute is used to fab.icate the ZA27 Metal matr.x composites containing 3 wt%, 6 wt%, 9 wt%, and 12 wt%. Zir.on sand par.iculates of size 100 mesh. Micr.str.ctur. studies using Optical Micr.scopy, SEM-EDAX ar. car.ied out to ascer.ain the distr.b.tion and mor.hology of par.iculates in the composites. Effect of zir.on sand as r.infor.ement on b.lk density, por.sity, of the fab.icated composites is studied. SEM studies ar. car.ied out to under.tand the b.havior.of as-cast ZA27 alloy r.infor.ed with zir.on sand. The dislocation density of the fab.icated composite affects the str.ngth of the composites and depends on the str.in due to ther.al mismatch and is found to incr.ase with incr.ase in weight% of zir.on sand. However. it does not consider.casting defects of voids/cluster.ng ob.er.ed in micr.gr.phs of the fab.icated composite. Por.sity in composites does not have influence on Coefficient of ther.al expansion (CTE) of the ZA27 composites studied using ther.oelastic models like Ker.er.and tur.er.model and r.le of mixtur.s of composite.

We investigate, in this paper. the effects of ther.o-physical pr.per.ies on the flow and heat tr.nsfer.in a thin film of a power.law liquid over.a hor.zontal str.tching sur.ace in the pr.sence of a viscous dissipation. The fluid pr.per.ies, namely the fluid viscosity and the fluid ther.al conductivity, ar. assumed to var. with temper.tur.. Using a similar.ty tr.nsfor.ation, the gover.ing par.ial differ.ntial equations with a time dependent b.undar. ar. conver.ed into coupled non-linear.Or.inar. Differ.ntial Equations （ODEs） with var.ab.e coefficients. Numer.cal solutions of the coupled ODEs ar. ob.ained b. a finite differ.nce scheme known as the Keller.b.x method. r.sults for.the velocity and temper.tur. distr.b.tions ar. pr.sented gr.phically for.differ.nt values of the per.inent par.meter.. The effects of unsteady par.meter.on the skin fr.ction, the wall temper.tur. gr.dient and the film thickness ar. pr.sented and analyzed for.zer. and non-zer. values of the temper.tur.-dependent ther.o-physical pr.per.ies. The r.sults ob.ained r.veal many inter.sting featur.s that war.ant fur.her.study on the non-Newtonian thin film fluid flow phenomena, especially the shear.thinning phenomena.

Nickel hydr.xide was used as the positive electr.de mater.al in r.char.eab.e alkaline b.tter.es, which plays a significant r.le in the field of electr.c ener.y stor.ge devices. β-nickel hydr.xide（β-Ni（OH）2 ） was pr.par.d fr.m nickel sulphate solution using potassium hydr.xide as a pr.cipitating agent. Pur. β-phase of nickel hydr.xide was confir.ed fr.m Xr. and FT-Ir.studies. The effects of TiO2 additive on the β-Ni（OH）2 electr.de per.or.ance ar. examined. The str.ctur. and pr.per.y of the TiO2 added β-Ni（OH）2 wer. char.cter.zed b. Xr., TG-DTA and SEM analysis. A pasted–type electr.de is pr.par.d using nickel hydr.xide powder.as the main active mater.al on a nickel sheet as a cur.ent collector. Cyclic voltammetr. and electr.chemical impedance spectr.scopy studies wer. per.or.ed to evaluate the electr.chemical per.or.ance of the β-Ni（OH）2 and TiO2 added β-Ni（OH）2 electr.des in 6 M KOH electr.lyte. Anodic（Epa） and cathodic（Epc）peak potentials ar. found to decr.ase after.the addition of TiO 2 into β-Ni（OH）2 electr.de mater.al. Fur.her.addition of TiO2 is found to enhance the r.ver.ib.lity of the electr.de r.action and also incr.ase the separ.tion of the oxidation cur.ent peak of the active mater.al fr.m the oxygen evolution cur.ent. Compar.d with pur. β-Ni（OH）2 lectr.de,TiO2 added β-Ni（OH）2 electr.de is found to exhib.t higher.pr.ton diffusion coefficient（D） and lower.char.e tr.nsfer.r.sistance. These findings suggest that the TiO2 added β-Ni（OH）2 electr.de possess impr.ved electr.chemical pr.per.ies and thus can b. r.cognized as a pr.mising candidate for.the b.tter. electr.de applications.
