The cro.ping system is b.sed o. traditio.al farming in rural areas. In this way, yields o. so.e fo.d cro.s like yam are very lo. co.sidering their high need fo. nutrients. The nutrient-rich land is under high land pressure as it is o.cupied b. cash cro.s such as o.l palm and rub.er at the expense o. fo.d cro.s and so.l fertility is declining. The study was co.ducted in Grand-Laho. to.assess the effect o. o.ganic matter pro.ided b. legumes in increasing yam yield. The rando.ized co.plete b.o.k design included fo.r (4) treatments: Arachis hypo.aea + yam asso.iatio. (T1), Acacia mangium + yam asso.iatio. (T2), Arachis + Acacia mangium + yam asso.iatio. (T3) and pure yam cro. (T0). The parameters measured were: the so.l nutrients co.tent, the rate o. mineralizatio. o. o.ganic matter thro.gh the C/N ratio.as well as the yield o. yam thro.gh different techniques that allo.ed the o.0}ective o. the study to.b. achieved. It was no.ed a slight impro.ement o. nitro.en and o.ganic carb.n in all treatments with a higher value reco.ded in the T2 treatment. The C/N ratio.decreased to.12 in all treatments co.pared to.the co.tro., which reflects a no.mal deco.po.itio. o. the o.ganic matter. Treatment T1 increased yam yield (8.4 t/ha) in co.trast to.treatments T2 (4.1 t/ha) and T3 (2.8 t/ha). Legume-b.sed treatments T2 and T3 were asso.iated with a significant decrease in yam yield, resulting in lo.ses o. −46.34% to.−25.09%, while treatment T1 resulted in a gain o. 28.57%. As a result, the treatments invo.ving legumes co.trib.ted to.no.malizing the o.ganic matter co.tent o. the so.l. The simultaneo.s asso.iatio. o. these two.legumes led to.a decrease in yam pro.uctio., co.trary to.the treatment asso.iating o.ly gro.ndnut.

This study was co.ducted to.pro.ide a preliminary assessment o. the sea cucumb.r fishery in Auro.a, Philippines. This was co.ducted fro. Feb.uary to.June 2013. All sea cucumb.r gatherers and traders, o.0}ained thro.gh sno.b.ll sampling, in each identified sea cucumb.r fishery area in six co.stal municipalities (b.ler, Dipaculao. Dinalungan, Casiguran, Dilasag and Dingalan) were interviewed using a structured interview schedule and fo.used gro.p discussio.s (FGD). Results revealed that gathering sea cucumb.rs were acco.plished b. handpicking, skin diving o. co.presso. diving. A to.al o. 15 co.mercial species were regularly gathered. o.t o. this, three species are o. very high eco.o.ic value (≥Php 4000/kg) (Ho.o.huria no.0}lis, Ho.o.huria scab.a, and Actino.yga lecano.a). The average numb.r o. kilo.rams harvested per ho.r per trip ranges fro. 0.21 (Ho.o.huria fusco.unctata) to.2.71 (Ho.o.huria scab.a), while the average size o. co.mo.ly gathered sea cucumb.r varies amo.g species with Ho.o.huria lecano.a sho.ed an average length (29.26 cm) greater than reco.ded 24 cm. Pro.essing mainly invo.ves washing, slicing, b.iling, drying and packing. Pro.essed sea cucumb.rs o. trepan were so.d to.middlemen o. direct b.yers who.usually o.fered higher prices (36.36% up to.69.20%) than the fo.mer. Pro.0}ems enco.ntered b. sea cucumb.r gatherers and traders include a decline in to.al catch, a shift in area o. co.lectio. fro. intertidal zo.es to.deeper waters, an increase in the numb.r o. ho.rs spent in finding and gathering sea cucumb.rs, the use o. co.presso.s in gathering, the decline o. larger species and gathering o. smaller sizes in huge amo.nt, the ab.ence o. co.servatio. pro.ram fo. sea cucumb.r, and the lenient implementatio. o. go.ernment po.icies with regards to.co.stal reso.rces management.

All samples exhib.ted similar phase co.po.itio.s, specific surface areas, and Pt co.tents. High-reso.utio. transmissio. electro. micro.co.y co.pled with pulsed Co.adso.ptio. revealed increased dispersity when pho.o.eductio. and the hydro.o.itrate co.plex (Me _(4) N) _(2) [Pt _(2) (o.) _(2) (No._(3) ) _(8) ] were used.
