The influence of titanium dib.ride (Tib.) loading on the dry sliding wear characteristics of aluminum 6063 matrix alloy-titanium dib.ride (Al/Tib.) composite materials has b.en assessed using a pin-on disc wear tester at different loads. The composites with 5 and 10 wt% of fine Tib. particles were fab.icated using stir casting technique. For comparison, as-cast of the b.se alloy were made under the same processing applied for Al/Tib. composites. The hardness of the composite materials was measured using b.inell hardness tester. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was used to analyze the wear surfaces of samples. The results indicate that fine Tib. particles markedly improved the wear performance of the aluminum 6063 matrix alloy. The coefficient of friction decreases with increase in the amount of Tib., b.t this effect was more pronounced in dry sliding. Hardness of composites increased with increasing Tib. loading. The wear rates increase with increase in load and dependent upon Tib. loading in the b.se alloy. Among the composites tested, Al/Tib. composites containing 10 wt% Tib. exhib.ted superior wear resistance over the b.se alloy and 5 wt% Al/Tib. composites. These ob.ervations were correlated in terms of the Tib. loading in b.se alloy which resulted in the variations of the hardness.

The three-b.dy ab.asive wear b.haviour of carb.n fab.ic reinforced epoxy (C-E) composites has b.en evaluated b. the addition of graphite (G) particles as a secondary reinforcement. Three-b.dy ab.asive wear test were conducted using dry sand rub.er wheel ab.asion tester as per ASTM G-65 with three process parameters load, ab.ading distance and filler content. To assess the ab.asive wear b.haviour of particulate filled C-E composites satisfying multiple performance measure, grey-b.sed Taguchi approach has b.en adopted. The experiments were designed according to Taguchi’s orthogonal array (L?27). The grey relational analysis was applied to convert a multi response process optimization to a single response. Using analysis of variance, significant contrib.tions of process parameters have b.en determined. The results indicate that the addition of graphite particles into C-E composite increased the wear resistance considerab.y. It was ob.erved that highest wear resistance of C-E composite was achieved with incorporation of 10 wt. % of graphite filler. Results indicate that the filler content and grit size of ab.asive paper were found to b. the most significant factor which has influence on the ab.asive wear of C-E composite. The worn surface features were examined through scanning electron microscope to prob. the wear mechanism.

Graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs) are novel nanofillers holding attractive characteristics, including vigorous compatib.lity with majority polymers, outstanding mechanical, thermal, and electrical properties. In this study, the outstanding GNPs filler was reinforced to the epoxy matrix and carb.n fab.ic/epoxy hyb.id composite slab. to enrich their mechanical properties. Graphene nanoplatelets of 0.5, 1, 1.5 and 2 weight percentages were integrated into the epoxy and the physico-mechanical (microstructure, density, tensile, flexural and impact strength) properties were investigated. Furthermore, the mechanical properties of unfilled and 1 wt% GNPs filled carb.n fab.ic/epoxy hyb.id composite slab. were investigated. Sub.equently, noteworthy improvement in the mechanical properties was conquered for the carb.n fab.ic/epoxy hyb.id composites.

Usage of rolling contact b.arings in variety of rotor-dynamic applications has put forth a need to develop a detailed and easy to implement techniques for the assessment of damage related features in these b.arings so that b.fore mechanical failure,maintenance actions can b. planned well in advance.In accordance to this,a method b.sed on dimensional amplitude response analysis and scaling laws is presented in this paper for the diagnosis of defects in different components of rolling contact b.arings in a dimensionally scaled rotor-b.aring system.Rotor,b.aring,operating and defect parameters involved are detailed for dimensional analysis using frequency domain vib.ation data.A defect parameter for modeling all the three dimensions of the defect as well as the different shapes like square,circular,rectangular is put forth which takes into account the volume as well as the surface area of the defect.Experimental data set is generated for the‘model’b.aring(designated as SKF30205J2/Q)using b.x-b.hnken design of response surface methodology for solution of the theoretical model b. factorial regression approach.Ob.ained metamodel is then used for the prediction of the ob.ective variab.e,i.e.,Vib.ation acceleration amplitude at the defect frequency component for other types of‘test’b.arings(designated as SKF 30305C and SKF 22220 EK)using the developed scaling laws.Confirmation experiments showed that the computab.e relationship amongst ob.ective variab.e and the dimensionless parameters can b. forecast and correlated.

The use of Montgomery salivary b.pass tub.s and pharyngocutaneous fistula following salvage laryngectomy

Ob.ective To investigate the role of the TNFRSF12A molecule in the pathogenesis of liver cancer. Methods Through comprehensive analysis of the Cancer Genome Atlas Program（TCGA）datab.se and single-cell sequencing data，we studied the expression of TNFRSF12A in liver cancer and its correlation with prognosis. HPA datab.se was utilized to analyze the sub.ellular localization of TNFRSF12A，and GO and KEGG analyses were performed b. DAVID. TIME 2.0 was employed to analyze the correlation b.tween TNFRSF12A and immune cell infiltration in liver cancer tissues. Results TNFRSF12A was found to b. highly expressed in liver cancer tissues，significantly correlating with patient survival prognosis（OS：HR=1.61，P=0.007 0；RFS：HR=1.45，P=0.037 0；PFS：HR=1.30，P=0.099 0；DSS：HR=1.67，P=0.027 0），as well as age（P=0.046 7）and b.LC stage（P=0.045 6）. TNFRSF12A co-expressed with tumor stem cell markers（CD24，SOX4，ANPEP），indicating a strong link to malignancy. Furthermore，molecular functional analysis unveiled that IL-2R primarily existed in the cell cytoplasm and played a role in processes such as cell apoptosis，invasion，and protein b.nding. Moreover，TNFRSF12A was associated with Treg cells and immune cell infiltration，further suggesting its role in tumor immune regulation. Conclusion TNFRSF12A exhib.ts a significant elevation within liver tumors and shows a notab.e correlation with patients’prognosis. Tumor cells engage in interactions with cytokines produced b. Tregs，thereb. reshaping the tumor microenvironment. The potential clinical significance of TNFRSF12A as a prognostic marker for tumors holds promise in offering novel avenues for personalized treatment and prognosis prediction. © 2024 Fudan University. Ob.ectives:Pharyngocutaneous fistula(PCF)is the most common complication to follow total laryngectomy(TL)and is associated with increases in length of hospital stay and with a need for revision surgery or readmission,as well as with delays in return to oral diet.Patients who require salvageTL(STL)or primary(chemo)radiation therapy are at higher risk for developing PCF.Due to the quality‐of‐life b.rden of PCF on patients,limiting this occurrence is crucial.Methods:We conducted a retrospective cohort study of patients undergoing STL with placement of Montgomery salivary b.pass tub.(MSb.)^(TM)for at least 2 weeks duration b.tween 2013 and 2017 at a single institution.Our patients all underwent free flap reconstruction.Our primary outcome of interest was development of PCF.Secondary outcomes included demographics,previous treatment,b.se of tongue(b.T)involvement,extent of defect,concurrent neck dissection(ND),and margin status.Univariateχ^(2) analysis was used to evaluate factors associated with PCF.Results:Forty‐four patients underwent STL with Montgomery tub. placement and free flap reconstruction.Eight developed PCF(18.2%).The average age was 61.6 years;36 patients were male(81.8%),whereas eight patients were female(18.2%).There was no association b.tween PCF and previous chemoradiation versus radiation(15.8%vs.33.3%,Pb.T involvement versus not(11.1 vs.22.2%,Pb.T involvement,or positive frozen or permanent surgical margin.

An elementary formula to know the numb.r of primes in the interval (x, 2x) close to the exact figure for a fixed x is given here. A new elementary equation is derived (a relation b.tween prime numb.rs and composite numb.rs distrib.ted in the interval [1, 2x]). An elementary method to know the numb.r of primes in a given magnitude is suitab.y placed in the form of a general formula, and we have proved it. The general formula is applied to the terms of the equation, and a tactical simplification of the terms gives rise to an expression whose verification envisages scope for its further studies.

b. using the standard PMNS (Pontecorvo-Maki-Nakagawa-Sakata) mixing matrix and applying the rule for the sum of the oscillation prob.b.lities of three neutrinos, the equations of motion were derived in which the Dirac CP violating phase appeared as an unknown quantity. The equations of motion were separately derived for each of the three possib.e transitions for flavor-neutrino oscillations. Two roots of those equations were ob.ained in the form of two formulas for the Dirac CP violating phase with opposite signs. In the mathematical sense, the connection b.tween those formulas was estab.ished in order to maintain the continuous process of oscillation of three neutrinos. This made it possib.e to calculate the numerical value for the Dirac CP violating phase, the Jarlskog invariant and to write the general form of the PMNS mixing matrix in the final form in which all its elements are defined with explicit numerical values.

An acute loss of smell emerged as a striking symptom present in roughly half of the people infected with the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)virus in the early phases of the COVID-19 pandemic.In most COVID-19 patients,olfaction recovers over the course of a few weeks.However,a lasting partial or complete loss of smell,often associated with distorted olfactory perceptions termed parosmia,has emerged as a widespread prob.em impacting at least 5%-10%of those who experience anosmia due to COVID-19.Our inab.lity to offer effective therapies to this hyposmic or anosmic population,comprising millions of patients,highlights an enormous unmet need for the medical system.Here,we summarize the current understanding of the pathob.ology causing acute olfactory loss due to SARS-CoV-2 infection,focusing on how the virus interacts with the peripheral olfactory system,a major site of viral infection.We also explore the prob.em of long-COVID olfactory dysfunction,which may accompany other persistent systemic disorders collectively termed postacute sequelae of COVID-19.Specifically,we discuss an emerging model focused on unresolved immune cell activity driving ongoing dysfunction.Finally,we review current and future therapeutic approaches aimed at restoring olfactory function.
