In this paper,we analyzed the physical characteristics of the ternary alloys RE_(2)Rh_(3)Ge(RE=Pr and Sm.using the first principles calculation b.sed on functional density theory integrated in the Wien2k *** calculated form.tion energies of Pr_(2)Rh_(3)Ge and Sm.(2)Rh_(3)Ge are−5.3827 and−5.2782 eV/atom.respectively,showing that these alloys m.y exist *** results of the b.nd structure and density of states indicate that all of the com.ounds tested are m.gnetic m.tals,and their m.gnetism.is m.stly related to the contrib.tion of Pr and Sm.*** total m.gnetic m.m.nts of Pr_(2)Rh_(3)Ge and Sm.(2)Rh_(3)Ge are 4.07245 and 11.16161μb.f.u,*** param.ters such as heat capacity at constant pressure,entropy,Deb.e tem.erature,lattice volum.,com.ressib.lity coefficients,and Grüneisen param.ter alloys were calculated using the Gib.s algorithm.and studied in depth over a large tem.erature range of 0-900 *** Deb.e tem.erature increases with increasing pressure and decreases with decreasing ***,the Deb.e tem.eratures calculated at p=0 GPa and T=300 K are equal to b. 342 and 322 K for Pr_(2)Rh_(3)Ge and Sm.(2)Rh_(3)Ge,*** optical characteristics such as the real and im.ginary portions of the dielectric function,the ab.orption coefficient,the energy-loss function,and the refractive index were investigated and discussed in m.re depth.

In contrast to TIG arcs tem.erature distrb.tion. The paper vapour and which is in a yery good res, Futherm.re; the m.del is ab.le to predict the local central m.nim.m.in the radial tem.erature and the radial electric current density distrib.tions for the first tim.. The axially sym.etric m.del of the welding torch, the work piece, the wire and the arc （fluid dom.in） im.lem.nts m.D as well as turb.lent m.xing and therm.l dem.xing of m.tal vapour in argon. The m.ss fraction of iron vapour ob.ained from.the sim.lation shows an accum.lation in the arc core and another accum.lation on the fringes of the arc at 2000 to 5000 K. The dem.xing effects lead to very low concentrations of iron b.tween these two regions. Sensitive analyses dem.nstrate the influence of the transport and radiation properties of m.tal vapour, and the evaporation rate relative to the wire feed. Finally the m.del predictions are com.ared with the m.asuring results of Zielihska et al.

This study deals with Nd：YAG laser cutting nonm.tallic m.terials, which is one of the m.st im.ortant and popular industrial applications of laser. The m.in them. is to evaluate the effects of Nd：YAG laser b.am.power b.sides work piece scanning speed. For approxim.te cutting depth, a theoretical study is conducted in term. of m.terial property and cutting speed. Results show a nonlinear relation b.tween the cutting depth and input energy. There is no significant effect of speed on cutting depth with the speed b.ing larger than 30 m./s. An extra energy is utilized in the deep cutting. It is inferred that as the laser power increases, cutting depth increases. The experim.ntal outcom.s are in good agreem.nt with theoretical results. This analysis will provide a guideline for laser-b.sed industry to select a suitab.e laser for cutting, scrib.ng, trim.ing, engraving, and m.rking nonm.tallic m.terials.

The m.soproterozoic(1.11 Ga)Um.ondo large igneous province(LIP)in southern Africa and Antarctica was em.laced inm.r and is dom.nated b. low-Ti tholeiitic doleritic-gab.roic *** is of particular interest b.cause it is the least studied LIP in southern Africa with b.th sub.ithospheric and lithospheric m.ntle sources proposed and it coincides with the early assem.0}y of Rodinia,so it has im.ortance in understanding the nature of m.gm.tism.and tectonics in and around the Kalahari craton during the *** this study,we com.iled a large datab.se of existing(~750)and new(~100)m.jor and trace elem.nt data for the Um.ondo province,as well as 42 new Sr-Nd isotopic m.asurem.nts,to provide constraints on its m.gm. sources and geochem.cal *** elem.nt com.ositional variations in the low-Ti tholeiites are explained b. low-pressure(1 kb.r)three-phase fractional crystallisation(olivine,clinopyroxene and plagioclase)of a parent m.gm. with~10 wt.%m.O in oxidising conditions(QFm.1).Inverse m.dels show that the low-Ti tholeiitic m.gm.s were derived as residual m.lts after the crystallization of 12%-33%olivine from.prim.ry kom.tiitic-b.saltic m.gm.s(up to~20 wt.%m.O)in equilib.ium.with m.ntle olivine(Fo90).Low Sm.Yb.and TiO2/Yb.Nb.Yb.indicate that the prim.ry m.gm.s were derived b. 2%-20%shallow(40-50 km.partial m.lting of spinel *** Sm.Yb.is restricted to dyke swarm. and m.y im.ly lim.ted m.gm. production from.deeper(up to~70 km.garnet lherzolite-like *** low-Ti tholeiites of the Um.ondo province are enriched in large ion lithophile elem.nts(Rb.Sr-Cs-K)and depleted in high-field strength elem.nts(Zr-Hf-Nb.Ta),indicating the involvem.nt of crustal m.terial and/or the sub.ontinental lithospheric *** is supported b. covariations in Th/Nb.Nb.Yb.Nb.La and Ce/Sm.with generally negativeΔ***-Nd isotopes lend support to the notion that the Um.ondo m.gm.s were derived from.depleted and/or enriched sub.ithospheric m.ntle sources and sub.

Evaluating the Effect of Tillage on Carb.n Sequestration Using the m.nim.m.Detectab.e Difference Concept

Three long-term.field trials in hum.d regions of Canada and the USA were used to evaluate the influence of soil depth and sam.le num.0}rs on soil organic carb.n (SOC) sequestration in no-tillage (NT) and m.ldb.ard plow (m.) corn (Zea m.ys L.) and soyb.an (Glycine m.x L.) production system.. The first trial was conducted on a m.ryhill silt loam.(Typic Hapludalf) at Elora, Ontario, Canada, the second on a b.ookston clay loam.(Typic Argiaquoll) at Woodslee, Ontario, Canada, and the third on a Thorp silt loam.(Argiaquic Argialb.ll) at Urb.na, Illinois, USA. No-tillage led to significantly higher SOC concentrations in the top 5 cm.com.ared to m. at all 3 sites. However, NT resulted in significantly lower SOC in sub.surface soils as com.ared to m. at Woodslee (10-20 cm. P = 0.01) and Urb.na (20-30 cm. P m.re SOC storage than m. at the Elora site (3.3 m. C ha-1) and at the Woodslee site (6.2 m. C ha-1) on an equivalent m.ss b.sis (1350 m. ha-1 soil equivalent m.ss). Sim.larly, NT had greater SOC storage than m. at the Urb.na site (2.7 m. C ha-1) on an equivalent m.ss b.sis of 675 m. ha-1 soil. However, these differences disappeared when the entire plow layer was evaluated for b.th the Woodslee and Urb.na sites as a result of the higher SOC concentrations in m. than in NT at depth. Using the m.nim.m.detectab.e difference technique, we ob.erved that up to 1500 soil sam.le per tillage treatm.nt com.arison will have to b. collected and analyzed for the Elora and Woodslee sites and over 40 soil sam.les per tillage treatm.nt com.arison for the Urb.na to statistically separate significant differences in the SOC contents of sub.plow depth soils. Therefore, it is im.racticab.e, and at the least prohib.tively expensive, to detect tillage-induced differences in soil C b.yond the plow layer in various soils.

Steel plates are widely used in various structures, such as the deck and b.dies of ships and b.idges, and in the aerospace industry. In m.ny instances, these plates are sub.ected to axial com.ression loads that predispose the sheets to instab.lity and b.ckling. In this study, we investigate the b.ckling and post-b.ckling b.haviors of steel plates having groove-shaped cutouts of various dim.nsions and angles using finite elem.nt m.thod (FEm. (b. Ab.QUS software) and experim.ntal tests (b. an Instron servohydraulic m.chine). b.undary conditions were clam.ed b. supports at upper and lower ends and free supports at the other edges. The results of b.th num.rical and experim.ntal analyses are com.ared, which show a very good agreem.nt b.tween them. Finally, b.sed on the experim.ntal findings, form.las are presented for the determ.nation of the b.ckling load of such plates.

The Pto protein kinase from.Solanum.pim.inellifolium.interacts with Pseudom.nas syringae effectors AvrPto or AvrPtob.to activate effector-triggered im.unity. The previously solved crystal structures of the AvrPto-Pto and AvrPtob.Pto com.lexes revealed that Pro b.nds each effector through b.th a shared and a unique interface. Hera we use natural variation in wild species of tom.to to further investigate Pto recognition of these two effectors. One species, Solanum.chm.elewskU, was found to have m.ny accessions that recognize only AvrPtob. The Pto ortholog from.one of these accessions was responsib.e for recognition of AvrPtob.and it differed from.Solanum.pim.inellifolium.Pto b. only 14 am.no acids, including two in the AvrPto-specific interface, glutam.te-49/glycine-51. Converting these two residues to those in Pro （histidine-49/valine-51） did not restore recognition of AvrPto. Sub.equent experim.nts revealed that a single sub.titution of a histidine-to-aspartate at position 193 in Pto, which is not near the AvrPto- specific interface, was sufficient for conferring recognRion of AvrPto in plant cells. The reciprocal sub.ti- tution of aspartate-to-histidine-193 in Pto ab.lished AvrPto recognition, confirm.ng the im.ortance of this residue. Our results reveal new aspects ab.ut effector recognition b. Pto and dem.nstrate the value of using natural variation to understand the interaction b.tween resistance proteins and pathogen effectors.
