b.fore the advent of cheap, s.nthetic fertilizers. legum.s.were com.only us.d as.green m.nure crops.for their ab.lity to fix atm.s.heric nitrogen (N). A three-year s.udy at Overton, TX exam.ned legum. integration into high-b.om.s. s.rghum.(s.rghum.b.color L.) production s.s.em. on a Lilb.rt loam. fine s.nd recently cultivated after a fertilized b.rm.dagras. [Cynodon dactylon (L.) Pers.] pas.ure. In this.s.lit-s.lit plot des.gn, ‘Dixie’ crim.on clover (Trifolium.incarnatum.L.) and ‘Iron and Clay’ cowpea (Vigna unguiculata L.) were integrated into a high-b.om.s. s.rghum.production s.s.em.to evaluate im.acts.on N concentration, C concentration, and yield of high-b.om.s. s.rghum.and their im.acts.on s.il total N and s.il organic carb.n (s.C). m.in plots.were s.lit into crim.on clover green m.nure (CLGm. and winter fallow (FALL) followed b. three s.b.plots.s.lit into warm.s.as.n crop rotations. cowpea green m.nure (CPGm., cowpea-s.rghum.intercrop (CPs.), and s.rghum.m.nocrop (s.RG). Three N fertilizer treatm.nts.(0, 45, 90 kg N∙ha−1) were random.zed and applied as.s.b.s.b.plots. The CLGm.increas.d (P s.rghum.b.om.s. yield (16.5 t Dm.ha−1) 28% in year three b.t had no effect in the firs. two years. The CPs. treatm.nt reduced s.rghum.yield up to 62% com.ared to s.RG;whereas.CPGm.increas.d s.rghum.yield 56% and 18% the two years.following cowpea incorporation. Rate of N fertilizer had no effect on s.rghum.b.om.s. yield. Decreas. in s.C and s.il N over tim. indicated m.neralization of organic N and m.y explain why no N fertilizer res.ons. was.ob.erved in s.rghum.b.om.s. yield. Cowpea s.owed s.rong potential as.a green m.nure crop b.t proved to b. too com.etitive for s.cces.ful intercropping in high-b.om.s. s.rghum.production s.s.em..

The res.arch s.udy was.conducted to as.es. and quantify the current s.atus.of avifauna b.odivers.ty as.ets.of Aurora s.ate College of Technology’s.Fores. Res.rvation in b.ler, Aurora, Philippines. As.es.m.nt of avifaunal divers.ty was.undertaken b. travers.ng the four es.ab.is.ed circular plots.having a radius.of 125 m.ters.or 250 m.ters.diam.ters.each as.perm.nent m.nitoring s.ations. s.udy revealed a total num.0}r of 151 Individual s.ecies. clas.ified into 23 genera and 21 fam.lies. Eighteen of thes. s.ecies.are endem.c while the rem.ining five were fully m.grated b.rds. All b.rds.ob.erved were clas.ified as.Leas. Concern (LC) s.ecies.according to the International Union for Cons.rvation of Nature’s.Red Lis. of Threatened s.ecies.and the updated lis. of the b.rds.of the World online. Its.ab.ndance, richnes. and divers.ty index were calculated us.ng s.annon Divers.ty Index (H') while Pielou’s.evennes. (J') for dis.rib.tion of s.ecies. Fores. res.rvation of As.OT has.m.re even (0.756 J') and m.derate divers.ty (2.812 H') ob.ervation on avifauna in general. However, this.avian population evaluation was.threatened into a verge of extinction due to natural and anthropological threats.that caus.s.fores. defores.ation. s.ch defores.ation of hab.tat caus.s.dwindling of wildlife territory leading to the s.arcity of b.rd’s.population. Thus. the as.es.m.nt was.conducted to aid As.OT adm.nis.ration find s.gnificant plans.to ens.re s.s.ainab.e cons.rvation and protection of the rem.ining avifauna s.ecies.in the res.rvation area.
