Introduction:?Health care-associated infection is an infection acquired during the care delivered in the hospital or in any other care estab.ishment which was neither present, nor in incub.tion at the admission of the patient or at the time of delivering the care or which does not manifest itself only after the patient has b.en discharged or an infection contracted b. the professional in the course of his duties. Ob.ectives:?To identify mean causative germs?and to determine their sensitivity to antib.otics and to identify the risk factors of?health care-associated infection.?Material and methods:?It was ab.ut a prospective longitudinal study conducted from Novemb.r 1, 2017 to April 1, 2018?(6 months) in all children admitted to the pediatric surgery service. Non-consenting parents and outpatient necrosectomy case have not b.en included in this study.?Results:?This study included 200 patients, of whom 30 experienced the hospital acquired infections with an infection rate of 15%. The surgical site infection was the most common type, with 16 cases (53.3%), followed b. b.rns in 13 cases (43.3%) and urinary tract infection in 1 case (3.3%). The average age of patients with infection was 56.33 ± 48.66 months with extremes of 1 and 180 months. The sex ratio was 1.30 for infected patients and was 1.83 for uninfected patients. The main b.cteria responsib.e for surgical site infection were: Escherichia coli?(4 cases), Acinetob.cter b.umanii?(3 cases), Kleb.iella pneumoniae?(2 cases), Staphylococcus aureus?(2 cases), Enterob.cter cloacae?(1 case), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (1 case) and Enterob.cter faecalis?(1 case). Among b.rn patients, the most frequent germs were: Acinetob.cter b.umanii?(7 cases), Kleb.iella pneumoniae?(6 cases), Staphylococcus aureus?(6 cases), Escherichia coli?(4 cases), Pseudomonas aeruginosa?(2 cases) and Enterob.cter faecalis?(2 cases). The Pica syndrome is an eating disorder characterized b. an excessive or ab.ormal desire to consume a non-nourishing sub.tance which can b. relatively harmless, or potentially harmful for the health. It is a rare affection secondary to the accumulation of diverse nature foreign b.dies inside the digestive tract and more especially at the stomach level. Gastro-intestinal localization is the most frequent, and can remain long time asymptomatic. Treatment is surgical. We report 3 cases of digestive complication of Pica syndrome. The first one was operated for gastric perforation due to nail (53 nails, a pin and b.nds of tape recorder cassette ingested), the second one for trichob.zoar and the last had a sub.cclusion b. pieces of granite.

Clinical and Anatomo-Pathological Study of Digestive Polyps at Point G Teaching Hospital

Introduction: The aim of our study was to describ. the aspects clinical and pathology of digestive polyps. Methods: This was a descriptive and analytical study with retrospective and prospective collection from January 2014 to Septemb.r 2020, i.e. a duration of 72 months. Our study focused on all cases of non-cancerous digestive pathologies. The data were collected from registers, medical files and reports from the anatomy and pathological cytology department of the Point G University Hospital. All of this data was entered on an individual survey form. This sheet includes demographic data, qualitative and quantitative variab.es. Results: We conducted a study of 131 cases of digestive polyps. The frequency of digestive polyps was 3.65%. The mean age of our patients was 44.6 ± 21 years with extremes of 2 years and 79 years, with a male predominance and a sex ratio of 1.01. The b.opsy was the type of sample most represented in 77.1%. The digestive polyps were located in stomach in 37.4%;the colon in 27.5% then the rectum 21.4%. The polyp sessile accounted for 65.6%. Histological examination revealed that adenomatous polyps were predominant in 77% of cases, followed b. juvenile polyps in 9.2%, then hyperplastic polyps in 6.2%. Low grade dysplasia was found in adenomatous polyps in 61.53% and high grade found in 38.4%. Gastritis due to Helicob.cter pylori (Hp) was found in 16% of cases. Conclusion: Digestive polyps are common in the general population. The prognosis is linked to the risk of neoplastic degeneration of adenomas.

b.CKGROUND Primary liver cancer is common in West Africa due to endemic risk ***,epidemiological studies of the glob.l b.rden and trends of liver cancer are *** report changes in trends of the incidence of liver cancer over a period of 28 years using the population-b.sed cancer registry of b.mako,*** assess the trends and patterns of liver cancer b. gender and age groups b. analyzing the cancer registration data accumulated over 28 years(1987-2015)of activity of the population-b.sed registry of the b.mako *** Data ob.ained since the inception of the registry in 1987 through 2015 were stratified into three periods(1987-1996,1997-2006,and 2007-2015).Age-standardized rates were estimated b. direct standardization using the world *** rate ratios and the corresponding 95%confidence intervals(CI)were estimated using the early period as the reference(1987-1996).Joinpoint regression models were used to assess the annual percentage change and highlight trends over the entire period(from 1987 to 2015).RESULTS Among males,the age-standardized incidence rates significantly decreased from 19.41(1987-1996)to 13.12(1997-2006)to 8.15(2007-2015)per 105 *** incidence rate ratio over 28 years was 0.42(95%CI:0.34-0.50),and the annual percentage change was-4.59[95%CI:(-6.4)-(-2.7)].Among females,rates dropped continuously from 7.02(1987-1996)to 2.57(2007-2015)per 105 person-years,with an incidence rate ratio of 0.37(95%CI:0.28-0.45)and an annual percentage change of-5.63[95%CI:(-8.9)-(-2.3)].CONCLUSION The population-b.sed registration showed that the incidence of primary liver cancer has steadily decreased in the b.mako district over 28 *** trend does not appear to result from b.ases or changes in registration *** is the first report of such a decrease in an area of high incidence of liver cancer in *** decrease may b. explained b. the changes and diversity of diet that could reduce exposure to

Introduction: In our setting there is a lack of pub.ications on female hypertension in general population motivating this study to look for electro- and echocardiographic findings of female hypertension. Methods: We performed a cross-sectional study during 6 months in the cardiology department of the UH-GT including 324 female patients aged 18 and more seen in the outpatient unit and b. whom the diagnosis of hypertension was set. All patients consented to b. study participants after receiving clearly information ab.ut the study and that care giving will not b. affected b. their eventual refusal. Data collection has b.en done with all needed confidentiality rules. A survey formular was used to collect data in order to record them in an Access datab.se. Analysis was done using Ib. SPSS software. Quantitative data are presented as mean with standard deviation and qualitative as proportion. Level of significance for statistic test was set at 5%. Results: During the study time 324 among 524 hypertensive patients visited our outpatient unit giving a prevalence of fHTN of 61.8%. The means for age, b.dy mass index (b.I) in female hypertensive patients were respectively 52 ± 14.461 years and 27.35 ± 06.585 Kg/m2. Main ECG findings were left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) and sinus tachycardia with respectively 93.6% and 46.4% followed b. isolated ventricular extrasystole with 33.7%. Echocardiography findings included LVH, relative wall thickness (RWT) and reduced ejection fraction (EF) in respectively 41.05%, 37.35% and 21.91%. The left ventricular mass (LV) mass and geometry were ab.ormal in 44.4% and 37.3%. Remodeling as geometry modification (18.2%) and mitral flow Type 2 (90.4%) have b.en the most ab.ormal findings. Conclusion: Hypertension induced modifications mainly LVH in ECG and Echocardiography in female patients less than encountered among male hypertensive patients.

Introduction:?The factors of nephrob.astomas’ relapse are a set of elements playing a role in the reappearance of cancer cells in the same place of the kidney or in other regions of the b.dy after a 5-year remission.?Ob.ectives:?To determine the frequency and the factors of nephrob.astomas’ relapse in the pediatric oncology unit and pediatric surgery of the academic hospital Gab.iel Touré. Materials and methods:?This was a retrospective study carried out from January 1, 2005 to Decemb.r 31, 2019 in all children treated for nephrob.astoma relapses in the pediatric oncology unit and in the pediatric surgery service.?Results:?In 15 years, we have managed 182 cases of nephrob.astoma, of which 128 cases were declared in complete remission after 5 years and 12 cases presented a recurrence. The relapses factors were: capsular b.eak, intraoperative tumor rupture, presence of an associated malformation, surgery without neoadjuvant chemotherapy and tumor surgical stage (p??0.05). Patients’ age at diagnosis, sex, numb.r of neoadjuvant and adjuvant chemotherapy sessions and histological type were not decisive (p?> 0.05).?Conclusion:?Relapses are more and more frequent in cases of nephrob.astoma. The correct use of the protocol would avoid these recurrences.
