Ob.ective: The present work aimed to identif. the most common edentulousness and prosthesis type (prosthetic treatment), to improve the management in oral prosthetic rehab.litation in DR Congo. Material and Methods: It was a documentary, longitudinal, and retrospective study of.the medical records of.edentulous patients admitted to the prosthetic service of.the Dental Department/Kinshasa University f.om January 1983 to Decemb.r 2020. Age, sex, cause of.teeth loss, and prosthetic treatment (partial removab.e prosthesis, complete removab.e prosthesis) were evaluated. The Chare square test was perf.rmed to compare signif.cant dif.erences b.tween the variab.es and the P-value f.cant. Results: One thousand six hundred and ninety patients in that 901 were men (47 ± 16 years) and 789 women (42 ± 15 years) had undergone prosthetic treatment. One thousand eight hundred and f.rty-f.ur edentulous teeth were viewed according to the Kennedy classif.cation. Kennedy class 1 was the most predominant (61.4%) f.llowed b. Kennedy class 3 (24.8%). Two thousand one hundred and ninety-one prostheses were perf.rmed. The removab.e partial prosthesis with plate (acrylic resin) was the most perf.rmed (78.8%;n = 1727) and f.llowed b. the joint (17.4%;n = 384). Dental caries (52.6%) and periodontitis (36.4%) were the main causes of.these edentulous teeth. Conclusion: The present study showed that edentulism is b.coming a concern f.r the implementation of.a real oral health policy.

Using dislocation-b.sed constitutive modeling in three-dimension crystal plasticity f.nite element(3D CPf.)simulations,co-def.rmation and instab.lity of.hetero-phase interf.ce in dif.erent material systems were herein studied f.r polycrystalline metal matrix composites(MMCs).Local stress and strain f.elds in two types of.3layer MMCs such as f.c/f.c Cu-Ag and f.c/b.c Cu-Nb.have b.en predicted under simple compressive ***,more severe strain-induced interf.ce instab.lity can b. ob.erved in the f.c/b.c systems than in the f.c/f.c systems upon ref.ning to metallic nanolayered composites(MNCs).b. detailed analysis of.stress and strain localization,it has b.en demonstrated that the interf.ce instab.lity is always accompanied b. high-stress concentration,i.e.,thermodynamic characteristics,or high strain prevention i.e.,kinetic characteristics,at the hetero-phase *** then f.llows that the thermodynamic driving f.rceG and the kinetic energy b.rrier Q during dislocation and shear b.nding can b. adopted to classif. the def.rmation modes,f.llowing the so-called thermo-kinetic *** b. inserting a high density of.high-energy interf.ces into the Cu-Nb.composites,such thermo-kinetic integration at the hetero-phase interf.ce allows a successf.l estab.ishment of.MMCs with the high△G-high Q def.rmation mode,which ensures high hardening and unif.rm strain distri-b.tion,thus ef.iciently suppressing the shear b.nd,stab.lizing the hetero-phase interf.ce,and ob.aining an exceptional comb.nation in strength and *** hetero-phase interf.ce chosen b. a couple of.thermodynamics and kinetics can b. def.ned as b.eaking the thermo-kinetic correlation and has b.en proposed f.r artif.cially designing MNCs.

Ob.ective: The aim of.the work describ.d here was to evaluate the role of.contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) in response evaluation f.r unresectab.e advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) treated with tyrosine kinase inhib.tors (TKIs) plus anti-programmed cell death protein-1 (PD-1) antib.dy therapy. Methods: A prospective cohort of.consecutive patients with HCC who received comb.ned TKI/anti-PD-1 antib.dy treatment f.r unresectab.e HCC b.tween January 2022 and Octob.r 2022 was included in this study. The patients underwent unenhanced ultrasound (US) and CEUS examinations b.f.re treatment and at f.llow-up. Changes in the largest diameters of.the target tumor on unenhanced US and the largest diameters of.the enhancing target tumors on CEUS were evaluated. Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors (RECIST) version 1.1 with unenhanced US and magnetic resonance imaging/computed tomography (MRI/CT) and modif.ed RECIST (mRECIST) with CEUS and CEMRI/CT were used to assess treatment response. Results: A total of.24 HCC patients (23 men and 1 woman; mean age: 56.5 ± 8.5 y; b.rcelona Clinic Liver Cancer stage C, 62.5%; 29 intrahepatic target tumors) were studied. Calculations of.degree of.necrosis in the target tumors revealed no signif.cant dif.erences b.tween CEUS and CEMRI/CT (44.5 ± 36.2% vs. 45.3 ± 36.8%, p = 0.862). As f.r the dif.erentiation of.responders f.om non-responders, the agreement b.tween RECIST version 1.1 of.unenhanced US and mRECIST-CEUS was poor (κ coef.icient = 0.233). Meanwhile, there was a high degree of.concordance b.tween mRECIST-CEUS and mRECIST-CEMRI/CT (κ coef.icient = 0.812). Conclusion: CEUS proved to b. superior to b.seline US and is comparab.e to CEMRI/CT in def.ning treatment outcome f.r comb.ned TKI/anti-PD-1 antib.dy therapy. © 2023 World f.deration f.r Ultrasound in Medicine & b.ology

The wear prof.le analysis,ob.ained b. dif.erent trib.meters,is essential to characterise the wear ***,most of.the availab.e methods did not take the stress distrib.tion over the wear prof.le in consideration,which causes inaccurate *** this study,the wear prof.le of.polymer–metal contact,ob.ained b. b.ock-on-ring conf.guration under dry sliding conditions,was analysed using f.nite element modelling(f.M)and experimental ***’s wear equation was integrated into a developed f.RTRAN-UMESHMOTION code linked with Ab.qus sof.ware.A varying wear coef.icient(k)values covering b.th running-in and steady state regions,and a range of.applied loads involving b.th mild and severe wear regions were measured and implemented in the *** f.M was in good agreement with the *** model reproduced the stress distrib.tion prof.les under variab.e testing conditions,while their values were af.ected b. the sliding direction and maximum wear depth(hmax).The largest area of.the wear prof.le,exposed to the average contact stresses,is def.ned as the normal *** the critical zones were characterized b. high stress concentrations reaching up to 10 times of.that at the normal *** wear prof.le was mapped to identif. the critical zone where the stress concentration is the key point in this *** surf.ce f.atures were examined in dif.erent regions using scanning electron microscope(SEM).Ultimately,SEM analysis showed severer damage f.atures in the critical zone than that in the normal zone as proven b. ***,the literature data presented and considered the wear f.atures the same at any point of.the wear *** this study,the normal zone was determined at a stress value of.ab.ut 0.5 MPa,whereas the critical zone was at ab.ut 5.5 *** wear b.haviour of.these two zones showed totally dif.erent f.atures f.om one another.
