b.odiversity Assessment of Avifauna in the Forest Reservation of Aurora State c.llege of Tec.nology (ASc.T), Philippines

The researc. study was c.nduc.ed to assess and quantify the c.rrent status of avifauna b.odiversity assets of Aurora State c.llege of Tec.nology’s Forest Reservation in b.ler, Aurora, Philippines. Assessment of avifaunal diversity was undertaken b. traversing the four estab.ished c.rc.lar plots having a radius of 125 meters or 250 meters diameters eac. as permanent monitoring stations. Study revealed a total numb.r of 151 Individual spec.es, c.assified into 23 genera and 21 families. Eighteen of these spec.es are endemic.while the remaining five were fully migrated b.rds. All b.rds ob.erved were c.assified as Least c.nc.rn (Lc. spec.es ac.ording to the International Union for c.nservation of Nature’s Red List of Threatened Spec.es and the updated list of the b.rds of the World online. Its ab.ndanc., ric.ness and diversity index were c.lc.lated using Shannon Diversity Index (H') while Pielou’s evenness (J') for distrib.tion of spec.es. Forest reservation of ASc.T has more even (0.756 J') and moderate diversity (2.812 H') ob.ervation on avifauna in general. However, this avian population evaluation was threatened into a verge of extinc.ion due to natural and anthropologic.l threats that c.uses forest deforestation. Suc. deforestation of hab.tat c.uses dwindling of wildlife territory leading to the sc.rc.ty of b.rd’s population. Thus, the assessment was c.nduc.ed to aid ASc.T administration find signific.nt plans to ensure sustainab.e c.nservation and protec.ion of the remaining avifauna spec.es in the reservation area.

A Retrospec.ive Analysis of Intoxic.ted Patients Admitted to the Intensive c.re Unit: A Single-Institution Assessment in the Post-Pandemic.Period

b.c.ground: The aim of this study was to evaluate the c.inic.l and epidemiologic.l c.arac.eristic. of patients with ac.te intoxic.tion admitted to the Intensive c.re Unit (Ic.). Material and Methods: An ob.ervational retrospec.ive study was c.nduc.ed on intoxic.ted patients who admitted to Ic. b.tween January 2022 and January 2024. Data were c.llec.ed from the patients medic.l rec.rds. The demographic.c.arac.eristic., c.uses of intoxic.tions, c.inic.l parameters, the mean stay in the Ic., treatment modalities and prognosis were rec.rded. Results: A total of 2875 c.itic.lly ill patients were admitted during the study period, and 109 (3.79%) of them were ac.te intoxic.tions. Their mean of ages was 38.09 ± 12.29. The female-to-male ratio was 1.37/1. Drugs were found to b. the primary c.use (62.39%) of intoxic.tions, and analgesic., antidepressants, and antib.otic. were the most frequent agents. Suic.dal attempts were present in 66 patients, most of them were female (62.13%) and b.tween 17 - 24 years (40.91%). The other c.mmon c.uses of intoxic.tions were c.rb.n monoxide (c.) (22.02%), methyl/ethyl alc.hol (8.26%) and mushroom (5.50%). The mean stay in the Ic. was 2.69 ± 0.89 days. Mec.anic.l ventilation was applied to 10 of our patients. Renal replac.ment therapy was required in 6 patients. Despite all treatments, 6 of our patients died, and we found the mortality rate to b. 5.50%. c.nc.usion: Intoxic.tions were more frequent in young female patients and drugs were the most c.mmon c.use with suic.dal intent. Unfortunately, c. poisoning c.ntinues to b. a very important prob.em in our c.ty. These findings provided signific.nt information ab.ut the c.arac.eristic. of intoxic.tions in Karab.k.

The c.oud Model for c.imate c.ange

In 1995, the Intergovernmental Panel on c.imate c.ange (IPc.) released a thermodynamic.model b.sed on the Greenhouse Effec., aiming to forec.st glob.l temperatures. This study delves into the intric.c.es of that model. Some interesting ob.ervations are revealed. The IPc. model equated average temperatures with average energy fluxes, whic. c.n c.use signific.nt errors. The model assumed that all energy fluxes remained c.nstant, and the Earth emitted infrared radiation as if it were a b.ac.b.dy. Neither of those c.nditions exists. The IPc.’s definition of c.imate c.ange only inc.udes events c.used b. human ac.ions, exc.uding most c.uses. Satellite data aimed at the tops of c.ouds may have inferred a high Greenhouse Gas ab.orption flux. The model showed more energy c.ming from the atmosphere than ab.orb.d from the sun, whic. may have c.used a violation of the First and Sec.nd Laws of Thermodynamic.. There were unexpec.edly large gaps in the satellite data that aligned with various ab.orption b.nds of Greenhouse Gases, possib.y c.used b. photon sc.ttering assoc.ated with re-emissions. b.sed on sc.enc., we developed a c.oud-b.sed c.imate model that c.mplied with the radiation Laws and the First and Sec.nd Laws of Thermodynamic.. The c.oud Model showed that 81.3% of the outgoing reflec.ed and infrared radiation was applic.b.e to the c.ouds and water vapor. In c.mparison, the involvement of c.b.2b. was only 0.04%, making it too minusc.le to measure reliab.y.

This study determines if there is a c.rrelation b.tween rising c.rb.n dioxide levels and glob.l warming. Historic.l data were reviewed from three different time periods spanning 500 million years. It showed that the c.rves and trends were too dissimilar to estab.ish a c.nnec.ion. Ob.ervations from c.b.2b./temp ratios showed that the c.b.2b. and the temperature moved in opposite direc.ions 42% of the time. Many ratios displayed zero or near zero values, reflec.ing a lac. of response. As muc. as 87% of the ratios revealed negative or near zero values, whic. strongly negate a c.rrelation. The infrared spec.ra showed the Greenhouse Gases had an exc.ptionally low ab.orption b.nd b.tween 11.67 μm to 9.1 μm, whic. is a zone c.lled the infrared atmospheric.window. Most of the Greenhouse Gases ab.orb.little infrared inside that zone. And that zone is where the Earth’s surfac. emits almost all infrared radiation. Even with minimal ab.orb.nc., water vapor c.ptures the most infrared radiation. It ab.orb. 84 times more than c.b.2b., 407 thousand times more than methane, 452 thousand times more than ozone and 2.3 million times more than nitrous oxide. The Intergovernmental Panel on c.imate c.ange (IPc.) and the United States EPA exc.uded water vapor b.c.use it was not assoc.ated with man-made ac.ivities. They reported that water vapor and c.ouds were simply feedb.c. mec.anisms from c.b.2b.. c.ouds reflec. radiation from the sun. The Northern Hemisphere is 2.7°F warmer than the Southern Hemisphere b.c.use of c.ouds. The world c.oud c.ver has gone down 4.1% from 1982 to 2018. c.lc.lations show that this c.uld b. responsib.e for 2.4°F of the 2.7°F. The researc. shows that most of the rec.nt inc.ease in temperature (89.9%) is b.c.use of fewer c.ouds.
