Floristic composition and edaphic relationships in ferruginous campo rupestre reference ecosystems

Land use change and occupation have led to modifications in the environment causing loss of biodiversity and ecosystem services throughout the *** environments with high economic relevance,such as the ferruginous campo rupestre(rupestrian grassland known as Canga in brazil),are even more susceptible to severe impacts due to their extreme habitat conditions and low *** determination of reference ecosystems based on the intrinsic characteristics of the ecosystem is essential for conservation as well as to the implementation of ecological *** proposed the reference ecosystem of the three main types of habitats of the ferruginous campo rupestre based on their floristic *** described the floristic composition of each habitat and evaluated the physicochemical properties of the soils and the relationship between plants and *** three habitats showed high diversity of plant species and many endemic species,such as Chamaecrista choriophylla,Cuphea pseudovaccinium,Lychnophora pinaster,and Vellozia *** distribution of vegetation was strongly related with the edaphic characteristics,with a set of species more adapted to high concentration of base saturation,fine sand,organic carbon,and iron,while another set of species succeeded in more acidic soils with higher S and silt *** provide support for the contention that the ferruginous campo rupestre is a mosaic of different habitats shaped by intrinsic local *** to recognize the floristic composition of each particular habitat can lead to inappropriate restoration,increased habitat homogenization and increased loss of biodiversity and ecosystem *** study also advances the knowledge base for building the reference ecosystem for the different types of ferruginous campo rupestre habitats,as well as a key database for highlighting those species contribute most to community assembly in this diverse and threatened tropical mountain ecosystem.

We have investigated the phase stability,magnetic properties,and martensitic transformation thermodynamics/kinetics of the Ni_(24-x)Mn_(18+x+y)Sn_(6-y)(x,y=0,1,2)system by combining the first-principles calculations and *** calculation results show that the optimized lattice parameters are consistent with the experimental ***,we obtain the relation equation for the austenite formation energy(e_(form-A))and Mn content(X_(Mn)):e_(form-A)=507.358X_(Mn)-274.126,as well as for the six-layer modulated(6M)martensi.e formation energy(e_(form-6M))and Ni content(X_(Ni)):e_(form-6M)=-728.484X_(Ni)+*** ternary phase diagram of the total magnetic moment was *** excess Mn will reduce the total magnetic moment of 6M(Mag6M)and non-modulated(NM)(MagNM)martensi.es,with the following equations relating the total magnetic moment and Mn content:Mag_(6M)=-15.905X_(Mn)+7.902and Mag_(NM)=-14.781X_(Mn)+7.411,while the effect on austenite is *** variation of total magnetic moment is mainly dominated by the Mn atomic magnetic *** 3d electrons of Mn_(Sn)(Mn at Sn sublattice)play an important role in magnetic properties from the perspective of the electronic density of *** on the thermodynamics of martensitic transformation,the alloys will likely undergo austenite?6M?NM transformation *** the thermodynamic and kinetic results,the martensitic transformation temperature decreases with x increasing and increases with y *** results are expected to provide reference for predicting the phase stability and magnetic properties of NiMn-Sn alloys.

Josephson vortices and intrinsic Josephson junctions in the layered iron-based superconductor Ca_(10)(Pt_(3)As_(8))((Fe_(0.9)Pt_(0.1))_(2)As_(2))_(5)

Modulated electronic state due to the layered crystal structures brings about moderate anisotropy of superconductivity in the iron-based superconductors and thus Abrikosov vortices are expected in the mixed ***,based on the angular and temperature dependent transport measurements in iron-based superconductor Ca_(10)(Pt_(3)As_(8))((Fe_(0.9)Pt_(0.1))_(2)As_(2))_(5) with Tc(≌)12 K,we find clear evidences of a crossover from Abrikosov vortices to Josephson vortices at a crossover temperature T*(≌)7 K,when the applied magnetic field is parallel to the superconducting FeAs layers,i.e.,the angle between the magnetic field and the FeAs layers θ=0°.This crossover to Josephson vortices is demonstrated by an abnormal decrease(increase)of the critical current(flux-flow resistance)below T*,in contrast to the increase(decrease)of the critical current(flux-flow resistance)above T* expected for Abrikosov ***,when θ is larger than 0.5°,the flux-flow resistance and critical current have no anomalous behaviors across T*.These anomalous behaviors can be understood in terms of the distinct transition from the well-pinned Abrikosov vortices to the weakly-pinned Josephson vortices upon cooling,when the coherent length perpendicular to the FeAs layers ξ⊥ becomes shorter than half of the interlayer distance d/*** experimental findings indicate the existence of intrinsic Josephson junctions below T* and thus quasi-two-dimensional superconductivity in Ca10(Pt3As8)((Fe0.9Pt0.1)2As2)5,similar to those in the cuprate superconductors.
