The sorption of and from aqueous solution on AFN membrane has been studied and the equilibrium isotherms determined. The experimental data have been analyzed using the Langmuir, Freundlich, Temkin and Dubinin-Radushkevich isotherm models at different temperatures varying from 283 to 313 K. The results were analyzed using three kinetic models, Lagergen first order, second order and the Elovich model. The obtained results show that the best-fit correlation of the experimental data was obtained using the second order model. Thermodynamic parameters for the adsorption system were determined at 283, 298 and 313 K.

Saline waters treatment has become increasingly important for drinking water supply in a greater part of the world. However, some serious limitations had recently been discovered during water treatment, among them the boron problem seems to have a critical meaning. According to the WHO regulations (2011), the boron concentration should be reduced to less than 2.4 mg/L for drinking water. The purpose of this study is to investigate the feasibility of electrocoagulation (EC) as a pretreatment process to remove boron from saline waters. To optimize the experimental conditions of boron removal, the effects of some parameters were studied such as inter-electrode distance (die), electrode connection mode, (S/V) ratio, pHi and initial conductivity of the solution (σi). Subsequently, an experimental design methodology was implemented to evaluate statistically the most significant operating parameters. The effects of current density, EC time and initial boron concentration and their mutual interaction were investigated using 23 full factorial design. At optimal conditions, boron removal from synthetic aqueous solutions containing initial boron concentrations of 5 and 50 mg/L reached 81% and 79%, respectively. Applied to boron removal from seawater samples, EC reduces boron concentration to less to 2.4 mg/L with excessive energy consumption under optimal parameters.

In order to improve the selectivity of anion exchange resin, the surface of gel type anion exchange resin was modified with polyethyleneimine (PEI). In the proposed work an attempt to the utilization of commercial anion exchange resin modified by adsorption of polyethyleneimine was investigated. Many conditions of modification of anion exchange resin surface were studied. The influent parameters on the DOWEX 1X8 resin modification were determined using a factorial experimental design. The ion exchange reactions were studied for modified and unmodified resin and electrolyte solutions containing Cl-,NO3-,SO42-. All experiments were performed at constant ionic strength I = 0.3 mol·L-1 and constant temperature T = 298 K. Ionic exchange isotherms were established for the binary systems:Cl-/NO3-,Cl-/SO42- and NO3-/SO42-. The obtained results show that nitrate ion was more sorbed than chloride and sulfate. The order of preference for the anions studied in this investigation is:NO3->Cl->SO42-. All the results given by this resin were compared with those obtained with the AMX anion exchange membrane. Selectivity coefficients and thermodynamic constants for the three binary systems and for the two resins were determined. The modified resin became more selective towards monovalent anions.

In the paper,we propose a fuzzy logic controller system to be implemented for smart mobility management in the 5G wireless communication *** management is considered as a main issue for all-IP mobile networks future *** a network-based mobility management protocol,Internet Engineering Task Force developed the Proxy Mobile IPv6(PMIPv6)in order to support the mobility of IP devices,and many other results were presented to reduce latency handover and the amount of PMIPv6 signaling,but it is not enough for the application needs in *** present paper describes an approach based on the IEEE 802.21 Media Independent Handover(MIH)standard and PMIPv6,so we present a new vertical handover algorithm for anticipating handover process *** object is to propose a smart mobility management that contribute in 5G wireless communication system network operating *** proposed dynamic thresholds were successfully made to guaranty process triggering,and a new primitive MIH is proposed for signaling a needed handover to be *** results demonstrate a significant reduction of the handover delay,packet loss,handover blocking probability and signaling *** results and tests are accomplished.

A probabilistic study of a circular tunnel excavated in a soil mass using the response surface methodology(RSM)is presented.A deterministic model based on two-dimensional numerical simulations in a transversal section is used,and the serviceability limit state(SLS)is considered in the *** model permits the surface settlement curve and the bending moment on the tunnel lining to be *** the soil parameters are considered as random ***ﬁrst-order reliability method(FORM)and the response surface methodology(RSM)are utilized for the assessment of the Hasofer-Lind reliability index(bHL)optimized by the use of a genetic algorithm(GA).Two assumptions(normal and non-normal distribution)were used for the random *** comparison analysis considering a correlation between the friction angle and the cohesion indicates that the results are conservative if a negative correlation among strength parameters is not taken into *** assumption of a non-normal distribution for the random variables has an important effect on the reliability index for the practical range of values of surface settlements.

This paper presents a reliability analysis of the pseudo-static seismic bearing capacity of a strip foundation using the limit equilibrium theory. The first-order reliability method(FORM) is employed to calculate the reliability index. The response surface methodology(RSM) is used to assess the Hasofer e Lind reliability index and then it is optimized using a genetic algorithm(GA). The random variables used are the soil shear strength parameters and the seismic coefficients(khand kv). Two assumptions(normal and non-normal distribution) are used for the random variables. The assumption of uncorrelated variables was found to be conservative in comparison to that of negatively correlated soil shear strength parameters. The assumption of non-normal distribution for the random variables can induce a negative effect on the reliability index of the practical range of the seismic bearing capacity.

A series of novel adsorbents composed of cellulose(CL)with Ca/Al layered double hydroxide(CC_(x)A;where x represent the Ca/Al molar ratio)were prepared for the adsorption of antimony(Sb(V))and fluoride(F^(-))ions from aqueous *** CC_(x)A was characterized by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),brunauer–Emmett–Teller(bET),elemental analysis(CHNS/O),thermogravimetric analysis(TGA-DTA),zeta potential,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)and scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive Xray spectroscopy(SEM-EDX)*** effects of varying parameters such as dose,pH,contact time,temperature and initial concentration on the adsorption process were *** to the obtained results,the adsorption processes were described by a pseudo-second-order kinetic *** adsorption isotherm model provided the best fit for the experimental data and was used to describe isotherm *** maximum adsorption capacity was found to be 77.2 and 63.1 mg/g for Sb(V)and F^(-),respectively by CC_(3)A(experimental conditions:pH 5.5,time 60 min,dose 15 mg/10 mL,temperature 298 K).The CC_(3)A nanocomposite was able to reduce the Sb(V)and F^(-)ions concentration in synthetic solution to lower than 6μg/L and 1.5 mg/L,respectively,which are maximum contaminant levels of these elements in drinking water according to WHO guidelines.
